UK - Prince Andrew accused of underage sexual relationship, 1999-2002 *settled* #2

Being held against her will … where does that come into play with being a trafficking victim? I wonder how he concluded a 17 year old girl travelling internationally with a couple of wealthy people was normal.

A person who’s being trafficked does not have the capacity to consent.

Andrew’s behaviour, rudeness, immature jokes (as you put it — at the age of 40-50?) and vulgarity all stand for his character, which will be assessed imo.

The impact of her experiences with Andrew on her emotional/mental health is paramount to this case.

I travelled internationally at the age of 17. Thousands of young adults do, it’s not abnormal at all.

Do you not know of immature, rude and vulgar people of all ages?? I don’t believe that is unusual either.

Nor is it what PA is being tried for…..

Seeing as VG had this lifestyle for quite some time and was with MANY rich and powerful men, I do not believe her reactions all fall to PA. That is totally ludicrous IMO.

How come the RF/PA let his mess go soooo far???

Where are the counsellors?

Media all over the world are having field days with lurid headlines!

I'm lost for words.

Yikes! Are you saying that you were trafficked at the ages of 16 and 17 and coerced into having sex with wealthy men and women while you travelled internationally like Virginia? Otherwise it's not the same experience in the least.

Victim blaming is so uncool in 2022.

to be fair maybe like me the Royal families want proof...and not rumours from the red tops and the Sun at that ugh

Andrew is fighting this as a private citizen...its nothing to do with the Palace. My honest opinion? I believe hes lieing about certain aspects of it but that doesnt necessarily mean I think he is totally guilty of all that he is charged with but in the mean time he is not doing himself any favours. I believe he should tell the total truth whatever that is. IF he is innocent...then in theory what could he do differently? settle? IF innocent? i think he is doing the correct thing in not settling personally BUT...he has to tell the truth and he wont. I certainly dont think he should settle because of any stories from the Sun.

Prince Andrew Drive ‘should be renamed’ in wake of Duke of York sex abuse scandal

1_CASCADE_prince_andrew_drive.jpg

Resident Terry Beech, who said the name didn't bother him

One resident said she may write to Telford and Wrekin Council to request that the road be renamed.

“We think it should change,” she said. “We’ve been thinking about writing to them. It’s not right that it’s named after him.”

Another local said they “wouldn’t mind seeing the back of that name”, but said that they would like it to remain connected to the Royal Family.

Other residents of Prince Andrew Drive disagreed and said they would like the name to stay, including Terry and Kim Beech.

“I don’t think you can change it. You can’t keep rewriting history,” Mr Beech told The Shropshire Star, saying that it “doesn’t really bother” him.

“It’s always been Prince Andrew Drive. We don’t agree with what he might have done, but you can’t keep changing things. You can’t erase history. He’s still part of the Royal Family.”

Scandals, especially moral ones, must be nipped in the bud.

That is the job of well paid advisers.
There were many years to take care of it.

But it was "swept under the rug" and now the whole world is watching in amazement.

Tabloids have no mercy, nothing is sacred any more.
And 90% of population usually reads or browses through such news.

But Arrogance always comes before a Fall.

Revealed: Prince Andrew to be deposed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre's lawyers on March 10 in London

Prince Andrew will be deposed by lawyers for his accuser on March 10 at a “neutral” location in London, The Telegraph understands.

The Duke of York will be forced to make a statement under oath to attorneys representing Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who will be flying in from the US to interview Andrew in person.

Sources with knowledge of the case told The Telegraph that both sides agreed on the date after a lengthy back-and-forth over scheduling issues.
Good! Hope it happens.

In theory I agree but many many homes will not even have the Sun in their houses because of incidents that have happened but to be honest for the most part I am not sure its a big a issue as you might think here. Most have other things to be concerned about with covid, the gas crisis, the cost of living etc. Rightly or wrongly some consider him to be a victim...thats why i think its right he should go to court...to clear himself or not whatever the case might be.

People ALWAYS find time to browse the Internet on their smartphones :)
And nothing is more uplifting than reading about some pompous elite's misfortunes hehe

Perhaps but like I said some see him as the victim....its not as one sided as you might think and I am not saying thats my opinion. Just...at the moment people see it as people coming forward for cash ...i think more will become interested when the depositions come out.

It staggers me the amount of seemingly intelligent people who salivate over every word the tabloids print. A bit of critical thinking wouldn’t go amiss.

My gut feeling on all this is that Andrew is a sleazy, pompous, rude and entitled man who should have just said “yes I slept with her, no of course I didn’t know she was trafficked, I deeply regret the situation and will be in touch with Virginia’s representatives directly”…. and just owned it. He’s made himself look even more sleazy and entitled and that’s what the red tops have jumped on.

Do I think Virginia needs an apology? Yes, yes I do.
Do I think Andrew deserves to be shamed for it? Yes, and that has happened.
Do I think he deserves a criminal record for it? No. And many famous people have done FAR worse, those connected to this case also need to be named and shamed.

As for him being more famous than God? Hahaha. He’s not even that famous in England!

I totally agree with your paragraph that he should have just owned it.

I also agree about the tabloids...people get so excited...about stories paid for cash from papers that can be embellished for money and that are a horrific reputation here and you know exactly what I mean by the Sun :(

The law and morals have nothing to do with one another.

Morals vary greatly around the world and from person to person.

Do you mean taking advantage of the vulnerable is not immoral universally?

I agree with you 100% on this! Perhaps he didn’t consider the age as a concern at the time.
Perhaps he knew she was being “used for sex” but didn’t relate it to trafficking at the time.
And maybe that’s why he has denied meeting her if he knew even some of what was going on. MOO.

He’s not being tried in criminal court though? So I don’t believe he will have a record?

It is interesting, people really should "own" what they have done. PA could have said, "She told me she was 18, how was I supposed to know she was a sex slave? I thought she was friends with JE and GM. We were partying, she came on to me.". And there it is. He is still a slimebag, but completely plausible, and believable.

My personal opinion is that people hated the fact that PA has doubled down on the falsehood that he was not with VRG. He obviously was...
