Asked about stabbing #beckywatts 15 times after her death NM "that's got nothing to do with how I felt about her."

What about the way you treated her after you killed her?
NM:That's got nothing to do with how I felt about her

Final question of the day to Nathan Matthews:

"Did you take pleasure in what you did to Becky?"
Answer: No.

Back tomorrow

BIB I find that just astonishing - doesnt mean he didnt like her, just because he stabbed her body 15 times after she was dead

Planned to tie Becky to a tree, too?

All of it sounds like Nathan sexually enjoys delivering a decent dose of sadism

[h=3]'Shauna wasn't into 🤬🤬🤬🤬'[/h]Prosecutor Mr Mousley said the version of events Matthews and Hoare gave police after their arrest was very similar.
Matthews said: “We would always be together - like most of the time.
“I had difficulty making friends of any age.”

Matthews told the jury the couple had a similar sense of humour.
He said: “I’m interested in gadgets, she’s interested in clothing and fashion games.
“Shauna wasn’t into 🤬🤬🤬🤬. I was the one who was into 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Mr Mousley: “How did that rape video come to be on your computer?”
Matthews: “I don’t know, that’s not one of my fantasies.
“When I paid for an escort I couldn’t get aroused because they only wanted the money not me - so it didn’t happen. They had the money and I left.”

I guess its easy to match stories when you are telling the truth. There isn't any reason to lie or get mixed up about your own life, is there?

Had he told Shauna about his miserable & very sad visit to the escort?

[h=3]'I didn't live in a fantasy world'[/h]Matthews said he had planned to “tie Becky to a tree and scare her” after kidnapping the teenager.
Mr Mousley: “Did you ever think about taking her home and putting her in the attic?”
Matthews: “No”.
Mr Mousley: “And what was going to happen after you finished terrifying her?”
Matthews said he would have let Becky go after warning her to behave and not tell anyone.
Mr Mousley said: “She had been bound, gagged, handcuffed, tied to a tree and terrorised - and you thought she would have just walked off and live her life?
“Did you live in a fantasy world in February this year?”
Matthews, who is 5’5” tall, replied: “I didn’t live in a fantasy world.”

He'd explained yesterday that he'd seen on CSI or something, that the body expanded after death so he did that drain the body to release fluid/gas. I can remember somebody pondering here previously whether that could be the reason. Good catch whoever it was!

I remember that comment about he thought it would remove liquids/gasses .......

what I meant to say ( I didnt phrase it very well ) was the complete matter of fact-ness about his comment - a sort of '' Hey, nothing personal you know, just have to do what I have to do ! ''

I would find it hard enough to hear a killer say that about a stranger, but to be like this about his step sister !

I think he will take NM through every single detail of what he did to Becky. he hasn't even started yet. and then he will dissect the days following to highlight SH's close proximity to everything too.

Nathan Matthews denies he was taking "a pretty big risk" that #beckywatts might go to the police about her ordeal after the kidnap.

I suppose then that he knew Becky must have been afraid of him since he didn't think she would have gone to the police after such an event

[h=3]'I did what I had to do'[/h]Mr Mousley asked Matthews: “Did your attitude towards Becky change after you killed her?”
He replied: “I didn’t have an attitude to her.”
Prosecutor: “What about how you treated her [after she died]?”
Matthews: “That’s got nothing to do with how I felt about her.”
Prosecutor: “What about stabbing her 15 times with a knife?”
Matthews: “That’s nothing to do with how I felt about her.”
Prosecutor: “What about cutting her up into pieces?”
Matthews: “Like I said, I did what I had to do.”
Mr Mousley ended his first day of cross examination by asking: “Did you take pleasure in what you did?”
Tearfully, Matthews answered: “No.”
Court has been adjourned and the trial will continue tomorrow.

If he was anything like his interview video I'd imagine he was sobbing talking about these details again but maybe not, maybe he's come to accept it.

I know most murderers who cut the body up do it to help them dispose of it easier but it's such a horrible added insult to the family, I wish they'd make some law whereby if you cut up a body after death, it takes away your right to plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter/accidental killing.

I certainly hope so. Not what I expected him to ask today, but fingers crossed for tomorrow. He has certainly gently reminded the jury

how unbelievable it is that SH had no knowledge at all.

  • #420
I suppose then that he knew Becky must have been afraid of him since he didn't think she would have gone to the police after such an event

And yet, wasnt he always moaning ( the actual word begins with B ! ) about how Becky got preferential treatment etc etc and ruled the roost.
Surely then, IF he had carried out his kidnap plan and left Becky out in the woods, he must have realised that, when Becky eventually got home, she would tell DG and AG exactly who had done this to her....and this would result in creating the very situation that NM was not happy about. ie' Becky would be the wronged person, NM would be persona non grata at the house ( or even worse if DG told the police what had happened ) and the end result would be Becky probably being spoilt ( in NMs eyes ) to make up for her ordeal.

Edited to add - I know Becky was scared of NM, but surely, after such an ordeal, she would tell who it was. And it would be very believable, NM and SH were there on that day, they had a car and the means to transport Becky elsewhere, she would be believed.
