If he had help, then for me there's not much room for doubt that the bath was the place. The shower curtains could have been draped over the top of the bath as cover, to contain anything which might have flown up. Easy to clean the bath thoroughly (which had clearly been done), and there wouldn't have been much blood anyway. If he was lying about using the bath, I don't think it would have been so thoroughly cleaned.

I still can't find clarity on this, as I asked yesterday.Was it cleaned at all? Can't find a forensic comment to say it was.

All I can find is this

She says there were no traces of blood staining in the bathroom at the home belonging to Shauna and Nathan

'I find it very surprising' no DNA from becky watts was found in the bathroom at all, forensic scientist tells court.

If she was dismembered in the bathroom it would have been a 'combination of covered surfaces and full cleaning', she adds

She says Thorough cleaning with bleach may also have removed any traces but "extremely surprising" not to find anything

The bathroom was closely examined for several days by experts.

It's very frustrating. Was hoping to find a forensics saying that either:
the bathroom was almost devoid of all DNA from all 3 occupants suggesting a recent deep cleaning
or, the bathroom showed typical evidence of the 3 occupants but no blood from NM, BW etc.
or another variation, so something could be deduced!

I've heard that there are different types of bleach and one of them completely removes traces of blood.

The other thing I remember is that a policeman observed that there was nothing around the edges of the bath. no shampoo bottles or other paraphernalia that you would expect to see around a bath. whereas the rest of the bathroom was a tip.

Yes they have lots of battery powered saws you can buy nowadays, I have two. All the Circular saws I've ever seen are designed to be used one handed, I've never attempted using two hands. Was any DNA found on the saw? If it was used it would be all over the inside of the inside of the saw.

Technology has clearly moved on.
Maybe he bought an expensive battery powered version then and he really did operate this, relatively heavy one, using one hand without anything to "rest it on", and nothing to secure the body , no G clamps/vices nor assistance from another.

The forensics said the saw had evidence on it.
The day expert in dismemberment testified, jury were asked to lift the saw to experience it's weight. ( That's the UK Eire FB reports, slightly more in them than the link below )

quoting my own post above, spotted a number 5 to go on the list -

5. I think you would say "I was at the sink". 'would have been at the sink' can only mean in her story.

I couldn't agree more. I would add that the phrase "thrown out" of home is most likely an exaggeration, I've heard people use the phrase for a bit of drama when referring to the kind of situation you describe. They haven't meant it literally.



I don't think anyone's been judgemental about this in regard to Becky's family. My understanding is that DG's father married a second time to a younger lady, and so DG has siblings who are much younger than he is, and only a little older than his own children.

That's my understanding of the situation as well. The post I'm thinking of what quite disparaging in relation to it though. I've looked back to try and find it now but I can't so perhaps it was removed.

it's difficult to tell from the photos if an adult body would be able to lie in that bath fully stretched out. It seems to be on the small side. With rigor he would not have been able to bend the knees up.

I too wonder about her confidence in the lack of DNA evidence.

In a house that I had lived in I would expect my DNA to be every where. Not hard to believe that there could be secondary contact. Yet she appears supremely confident that no DNA evidence would link her to the body. I would suggest that the only way she would know that was if she had helped to wash it all away. Or knew that someone had done that on her behalf.

I still find it incredible that they used a circular saw and managed to some how stop it covering the room with DNA evidence. I've only ever used one for its intended purpose and they kick out wood particles in every direction.

What's with the "to my knowledge"?? She mentions it at the start of every sentence virtually

I've actually thought exactly this - that if kicking Becky out of home was seen as a suitable punishment for disrespect (something SH said happened quite regularly, FWIW) then perhaps in that context this seemingly farfetched kidnap plot didn't seem so drastic after all, even perfectly reasonable...

ETA: I'm with iclaudia on this one - kicking Becky out of home for what was most likely normal teenage behaviour can't have given the kid much sense of a stable home, especially given that her background was pretty unstable anyway. My guess is she went to a friend's or to her boyfriend's house when this happened.

We don't know the context of this supposed "kicking out"..to my knowledge it is only the accused who have mentioned this..how do we know they have their facts right..

When I was a teenager I was terrible, I went to a strict girls school and rebelled terribly when at home. There were plenty of times when my behaviour had caused arguments at home resulting in me storming out and my mom would always say don't come back - so I wouldn't. I would stay at a friends or family for a night or two and then slope back with my tail between my legs

Even more ironic that when he was under arrest on suspicion of kidnapping, he asked if the police had any forensic evidence from CML. They said they'd found blood but forensic analysis was ongoing. He then confessed that he had killed BW. It turned out to be his own blood....

I don't know if the truth is ever going to be revealed. Such a tragic case.

In a way, BW, NM and SH all came from an unstable family set up. None of them lived with their mothers for very long. Becky was apparently living with DG and AG from the age of 3 iirc, NM was brought up by his grandmother (I wonder why AG could bring up BW but not her own son?) and SH was with foster parents for many years. In that way, I have sympathy for them all as children. Did it lead to a rage and irreversible jealousy felt by NM? I think so. That's not the full story though.

I'm sorry but no one's background, whether they have led the most privileged upbringing or was dragged up from the streets, should be an excuse for undertaking such a vile and violent act..

If the dismemberment took place in the loft what reason would Nathan have for keeping Shauna out of the bathroom? And what would be gained by lying about where she was dismembered?

ETA- I am desperate to hear the other 4 give evidence as I think that will clear up some things, IF we can rely on them telling the truth that is ...

Perhaps the parts were stored in the bath after they were cut up.

Idk I honestly can't believe that the dismemberment was carried out in the bathroom for the reasons I have previously stated...however as you say why keep SH out of the bathroom (supposedly) and SH stated she heard the saw being used in the bathroom (supposedly)

Initially NM decided to go about BW's 'disposal' by using Drain cleaners. Hoping that it would disolve the body by acid process. But you would need commercial strength acid for that. So he found to his demise. That method wasn't going to work as he'd wished. So therefore he had to 'thoroughly clean' the bath to rid the area of contamination. I think the loft was just the next best thing. Imo

I don't believe him about the drain cleaner. He bought drain cleaner 12:20pm on Feb 20th. He bought the saw at 12:51pm on Feb 20th. There is no time for him to try using the drain cleaner to "dissolve the body" before realising it wasn't working and then buying the saw.

there wasn't when the police first went in on 24th Feb. these photos were taken after their arrest.

If it's a standard bath then Becky being the height she was would have been slightly too long to be laid completely flat. She would have needed to be places almost as though she was relaxing in the bath with her head resting on the end

Just noticed that toilet is a shambles -toilet seat broke and lid on cistern not on..actually that could back up SH claims that toilets keeps breaking. Our old toilet wouldn't flu properly and we had to keep taking the lid off the cistern to raise the ballcock
