His mental health had been declining, hoarding getting progressively worse & he'd visited the doctor etc (wall punching episode). Correct me if I'm wrong someone but I don't think we've been told the date of when this visit occured.

I don't think we can assume she did it to stop him being violently abusive to her, if she hasn't said so herself. She would have said it if that was the case, but she just says she did it in a sarcastic way, and to get him in a good mood.

Becky Watts trial: Shauna Hoare tells of boyfriend's 'terrifying' violence

<snip>

Hoare also described an earlier argument with Matthews in which she told him to leave and he started stabbing himself with a fork.

“Again we were having a big argument and shouting and I’d had enough and told him to leave,” she said.

“He was eating something and had a fork in his hand and he jumped on me – not hurting me – and started stabbing himself in the chest and was scraping the fork down his face.”

Asked by Andrew Langdon QC, defending, what she thought of that, Hoare replied: “Terrifying.”

I was having regular contact with my social worker. Nathan rarely came with me."

So more times she went out on her own.

And she said she wanted to leave him but had no one to help ............ except the help of a well-qualified person who would be able to put her in touch with every single agency she needed in order to leave him, and who could help SH ensure that NM couldn't find her.

If I was in an abusive relationship (and trust me I have been), it would have been a hell of a lot easier to get out of it if I'd have had regular contact with a social worker!! And already been in the system, via the receipt of benefits in my name (as opposed to relying on the wage of a partner).

So, not "sent" to Costcutters. Sounds like she was telling him where she had been - which suggests she had the opportunity to go out on her own, to a place of her choice.
She's not going to write 'you know you just sent me to Costcutter' ...

I think we're focusing too much on tiny irrelevant details.

For some girls I think it's less threatening as well - more like practice :). In my case it could've been because I went to an all girl's school and had no brothers / a very female dominated family so I was somewhat scared of boys until I was about 16, I had very little contact with them, lol. But I can imagine it might be the same for other girls who may be shy etc
It's also something that girls will do or SAY they've done just get some interest from the boys as it's probably the most common male fantasy.

I don't think so. If she's lying about this she could be lying about other things too. In fact, we know she is capable of lying because she was committing benefit fraud and she lied about the messages initially.

Like the type a parcel delivery driver would use..

Ahh, now that makes sense. lol!

ETA so he really couldn't lift the case into the house then. his body must have been in terrible shape after the fight with Becky. yet he managed to get her in the bath and hold the big heavy vibrating power saw one-handed.

Telling lies and murder are a huge leap. Committing minor acts such as benefit fraud and having no tv licence are a huge leap from what SH is accused of.

When I had my first home I got done for not having a tv licence - doesn't mean I'm capable of murder.

I consider benefit fraud more serious than a minor lie, but that's by the by.

And managed to get into the loft countless times to hide all the evidence and the body parts.

but what is her valid reason for lying about being controlled to that degree by NM?

I agree, not minor but still a huge leap to kidnapping, murderig and dismembering someone I think!

I reckon the pros will pick up on the contradictions. It's just that she's still playing those two cards of not knowing a thing and also of being too scared to say anything if she did. Also means the pros can play it two ways, he can call her out on the contradictions and try to prove she was an equal partner (or even the dominant partner) not a submissive little yes woman and played an equal part in everything that happened to Becky, OR.. he can accept she was the submissive one and ask if this is why she went along with it all and didn't tell.

I'm looking forward to the prosecution cross examining her because if feel that if she IS lying, then this is where her story is going to fall apart under pressure. Conversely, it should also determine if she is telling the truth. I'm open to anything at this point.

I am recovering from two frozen shoulders. I cannot even stretch over the bath to clean the other side without being in agony. he could not peg out the washing. he did not manage the sawing or to restrain Becky on his own (the former with eyes open or closed). I think and hope the jury will see that the physicality of everything he supposedly did on his own does not match his evidence.

I think he has put the nail in SH's coffin.
