The court has heard Hoare has been on anti-depressants for "some months" #beckywatts

I agree with that ColourPurple, but I can't put myself in the mind set of a man who is accused of murder quibbling over benefit fraud :-/ it seems a silly thing to do if it muddies his defence.

If somebody else he cared about was claiming carers allowance to look after him when he didn't really need looking after, he might be worried about getting them into trouble too. The "protective" side of him he's been talking about. (specualtion as we don't know if this was the case)

Had a fun time last night thanks Nathan Matthews and his mummy and step dad got a little bit drunk and ended the night throwing up budwiser lol but had fresh fish and chip this morning now getting a massive pastie for my long journey tomorrow xoxo

FB paints a rather different picture of what we are hearing in court.

He's admitted he was controlling and that she could be too. I think she's exaggerating some areas to make him look worse and herself look like if she did play apart it was a lesser part than him. She contradicts herself, off the top of my head here's a few. Yes we've discussed them already and why she might be contradicting herself but she still IS contradicting herself and that leads to thinking there's lies or exaggeration involved

She says he has control of all her money and bank card- she says she used her bank card to buy 🤬🤬🤬🤬
She says she's too scared to argue with him so they dont argue- he says they do argue and a neighbour heard them argue.
She says he doesn't allow her out without him - we see texts of her texting him wheres she's been
She says he doesn't allow her to smoke- she smokes

and he did explain that she had asked for his help to stop smoking. and also that he was trying to get them both to lose weight - I know she doesn't look overweight but perhaps she would be or had been if they gorged on takeaways and then ate more junk food to follow, like he says they did. No bad thing for one of them to try to restrict the unhealthy foods if you ask me.

the only thing he is being dishonest about is how the murder really happened and the disposal of the body. his reason for lying is to take the blame for everything so SH doesn't go down with him. he's made a vow to her at some point that this is what he will do and he is sticking to it. what does he have to lose?

But thats a matter of opinion, not fact. We don't know if he's been honest about his health. We don't know if he's been honest about other things.

Personally i I don't believe everything he says about the way the murder happened, but at the same I don't think I can whole heartedly accept that his health is as he says but then accept that he is lying about the way the murder happened.

i imagine it isn't as simple as that and there are shreds of truth in amongst lies all over the place.

I think some of you are seeing the controlling nature of their relationship as being very black or white, all or nothing and it's not like that at all. Some days you feel a bit braver or a bit sick of it so you do answer back and argue and other days if he's in a good mood he might be okay with going to the shops other days when he's feeling threatened or just woke up in a bad mood you wouldn't even mention going out alone cause you'd know what could happen if you did ask ...

Thank you for posting this, I've been trying to articulate it all morning but wasn't sure how to explain! I have been in relationships with controlling men before (luckily not physically violent though) and you're right - it is exactly how Shauna says, there are good days and bad days. When they have a good day its enough to convince yourself that they aren't so bad after all, and that is what makes you stay.

SH said Matthews didn’t “particularly” like Becky, but in recent times their relationship had got “less awkward” and better. #beckywatts

I agree, he mentioned BMI or ideal weight so looked like they'd both looked at their weights and dieting.

Thank you for these summaries.
In my opinion this is another huge lie. If he had total control of her bank account how did She pay him? Why would he charge her for cigs if he already had all her money?
Idk...Guess I am trying to find some truth in anything she is saying.

Thank you for this contribution, so logical :)

SH is recounting their trip to the family home on February 19, the day NM admits killing #beckywatts

But thats a matter of opinion, not fact.

<rsbm>

you're quite right. it is just my opinion, and may or may not be proven by the end of the trial.

I agree to a point - I don't think he's being 100% open about how she died or how he dismembered her BUT I don't think he's being vague to protect Shauna - I think HE doesn't want to relive it and he doesn't want to admit some unpleasant details because he doesn't want Shauna and his family to think any worse of him than they already do. It's just the same as saying he didn't mean to drag Shauna by her hair but if he did it was because her hair got caught - I was only moderately violent to you - I believe he planned it and I believe what his plan was but I think what actually happened in Becky's room turned more violent because she at some point fought back - he didn't go there intending to kill her but the minute she fought back he would've 'seen red' not only was she not doing as she was told but she was ruining his plan.

[h=3]'It was meant sarcastically - I have a sarcastic nature'[/h]The messages between Matthews and Hoare mentioned “little sweet 16-year-olds” and “blonde schoolgirls”, the jury heard.
Three messages in December talked about a 16-year-old girl who worked at a Chinese takeaway.
Hoare said: “I knew he found her attractive.”
The jury heard another message Hoare sent to Matthews talked about her bringing teenage girls back to their attic.
Hoare said: “It was meant sarcastically, I have a very sarcastic nature. It wasn’t an actual idea.
“I thought they were completely harmless, inappropriate comments and I could get him in a good mood.
“Sometimes I would make things up to get him in a good mood.”

Another message Hoare sent to Matthews said: “Just went to Costcutters.... saw a very pretty teenage girl....almost brought her home”.
Hoare told the jury she had been to Costcutters but she made up the message.

she'll also appreciate the prosecutor's sarcastic sense of humour too, especially when he gets to the red bucket they used for 3 days.

she probably wondered about the turkey sized cling film parcel in her freezer too.
