I agree that Donovan is saying all the right things and yet ... if all he was doing is occasionally sleeping at Karls house, if there's no forensics to say he touched the packages/bags etc, no prints in shed, no evidence from other defendants to say he did anything then ... why the heck has the CPS agreed to him being charged? Shannon demetrius was also arrested and questioned and yet released without charge so there MUST be something?

Donovan Demetrius talked of 'dodgy dealings'
Employees at the store Donovan Demetrius worked at said in the week leading up to his arrest he was "unusually quiet" and spoke of "dodgy dealings" with his brother.


Demetrius was a lead sales manager at Home Bargains, in Bedminster, where he had worked for nine months.


But in the week leading up to the arrest of Matthews and Hoare for murder, on March 2, colleagues say the usually "bubbly" employee had become "quiet, reserved and withdrawn from conversation.


Colleague Danielle Wood, who worked with Demetrius during the week of February 24, said she had heard a conversation where he mentioned "dodgy dealings".
During that week he was a lot quieter, he kept himself to himself, he was not his bubbly self.

A conversation came up saying how tired he looked and he said he had been up all night waiting for his brother, to go and do some dodgy dealings.


He said he was waiting up for his brother but his brother had come back and said he had already done it and they were going to get a cut of the money but he didn't know how much.

His manager, Benjamin Fairley described Demetrius as a "real asset to the company" who had been improving and improving since starting the job.


But said the week leading up to his arrest he had turned up to work looking visibly tired.
He did look tired, as his manager I asked his whether he had been out. He replied to me 'My brother asked for my help with something, he ended up not needing me, I fell asleep on the sofa, it was a late night.

Could it be as simple as him being inside the house when it happened. Its the same situation as SH - both present when something happened, and both saying they knew nothing about it. In his favour though, it was just the one event.

I guess if he was at the house at the exact time the body parts were taken into the house, and then put into the shed, and he remained in the house in the days afterwards, I can see that CPS might be covering their back and having a jury decide if he is innocent, rather than them making the decision. If that is how it all works ... I have no idea!

At worst, could it be he suspected what had happened sometime after the events, but still wasn't involved himself? Even then, he might just have been worried about what his brother was getting himself into (considering hiding stolen goods etc) but still not actually knowing the reality of what was in the shed, until the arrest of NM?

In an extraordinary moment at Bristol Crown Court, Donovan Demetrius has received a round of applause from the public gallery after verbally attacking killer Nathan Matthews.

He accused Matthews of not being ‘bothered to look at the family he destroyed’ before members of the public gallery burst into loud applause.

ETA - he also spent 5 months on remand before finally being granted conditional bail.

I'm astonished that they charged him on what we've heard. All there seems to be is some hearsay stuff from a couple of people who are applying hindsight and may well have embroidered it.

ETA quiet, worried, on edge - well, he was about to be made homeless, that would be quite enough to make me quiet, worried and on edge.

I think Clio's post just above yours, does that. Or at least gives an explanation. He had been waiting up to help (not knowing what help was needed) but was never asked to help in the end, and was asleep when it all happened.

If true what he said, all could have turned out differently, if DD had been asked to help .... and had asked what was in the bags.

So if WAS asleep on the sofa, he'd have been there when they went into the lounge, when JI stayed in the kitchen. He's claiming he was in "bed" though. MAybe he didn't want his boss to know he was staying at his brothers rather than having a permanent address.

Thanks for this info, as I was just about to ask same question as the OP.

ETA Was thanking in ref to the longer paste you included, which obviously has disappeared

I don't think dodgy relates to paying for a moped on installments. Quietness/not his usual self/no longer bubbly could be anything... or we can draw an adverse inference...... would it really be to do with commonplace rows with Jaydene?

Why would selling your moped be considered or talked of as "dodgy dealings" though? Is everyone on eBay or AutoTrader 'dodgy dealing'
