All the proceeding tweets this afternoon are William Mousley QCs arguments. He is the prosecutor in the Becky Watts case

Phew! Right PC needs a reboot & I need coffee...

BIB well unless we have missed something ( very possible ) I dont remember any evidence which could show this at all >

Agreed. It wasn't even his house. It seems like (for once) it was an unhappy coincidence that he was temporarily staying there when all this happened.

Phew, that was quite compelling. I thought he did a very good presentation, apart from lumping JI and DD together, which was a bit disappointing, as, if any of the Jurors felt the same, then it might affect how they look at the rest of his presentation.

So tomorrow must be NMs Barrister - would they have time for SHs as well do we think ? ( being as it's clock off early day for the Court ! )

Ah he could be implying that the reason DD had time off work was to guard the shed, but he said early on it was a prebooked holiday

Well done Mr Mousley!!
I agree 100% on SH & NM.
altho I personally find DD innocent.
He's guilty by association. But by a lesser degree than JI and KD. And JP was the unlucky one for her house being used as Storage.

A big thanks to Clio!

Just to go over the 'row out' comment by the pros qc, it's only an issue here is because it is a homograph (two words which the same spelling but different pronunciation), and the context of the courtroom makes its interpretation even more difficult, if you are unfamiliar with the expression.

In a different context, it makes more sense, like when the sailors inside of the lifeboats of the Titanic, as she was beginning to sink, were to 'row out' to a safe distance from the ship to avoid being pulled under by the suction of the ship as she went under the icy water.

Apologies for my lengthy explanation

If you're still here cottonweaver

This is Joint Enterprise simplified - I hope it explains better than I did.

What is Joint Enterprise?

Criminal law generally only holds offenders liable for their own actions but, under the doctrine of joint enterprise, a person may be found guilty for another person's crime.

Simple association or accidental presence during a crime is insufficient for a charge under joint enterprise. A suspect must knowingly assist or encourage the crime and agree to act together with the primary offender for a common purpose. For example, the driver of a getaway vehicle can be charged with robbery under joint enterprise even if an accomplice actually perpetrated the crime.

Additionally, no action for joint enterprise murder is sustainable unless the prosecution also secures a guilty verdict for the primary offender.

I think that's exactly the right definition and the context is pretty similar but NM is the sinking ship!

It will be a hard lesson for KD, JP and JI (if found guilty.) I don't believe they knew it was Becky, but unfortunately the charge is assisting an offender and imo, they are guilty of that.

I do feel for JI for some reason though. Hope he isn't too harshly punished.

Eta my prediction for NM & SH is guilty of all charges. I think the people of Bristol in particular are pretty much baying for their blood.

Despite the fact that 3 of them were happy enough to accept money for getting involved with something they must have suspected was illegal, I do feel sorry for them all.

Had NM not dragged them into his mess, they'd all still be in their jobs and homes, and would have a better future to look forward to than one which will forever be tied into the most horrific murder of a 16 year old girl. They were greedy, not evil.

Just thinking about length of sentence. If they - KD JI and JP that is - get something like 2 years, then they have already done 8 months and counting...which is the equivalent of 16 months as sentences are usually halved are they not ( when they are relatively low ).
so could be relatively short time remaining for them inside. Not sure how that would work for JP, being as she has been on bail for the past few months, so has actually served less time.

I do hope, if DD is found guilty that he gets a lesser sentence. The evidence against him was pretty poor.
Won't JP and KD get shorter sentences for pleading guilty?

I hope NM and SH go down for a long time. The others were stupid rather than bad people, I think. I would be happy for them to get relatively short sentences as I think they are very unlikely to ever do this again!
