I think Retri said either her cousin or a friend (I can't remember which, didn't screenshot the post) had twins with DG.

So many people ripped apart by this. When you consider the 6 defendants there must be dozens of parents, grandparents and siblings of those involved.

I think DG had 4 daughters from what I've gathered via Facebook. The twins look early 20s, only one calls herself Galsworthy. Then there's a 30 year old (ish) daughter with surname Galsworthy.

RSBM. This case has had me gripped from the start and is why I signed up to WS. I'm also following the Australian case of Khandalyce Pearce, the little girl who's remains were found in a suitcase and her mum, who was found 1300km away - really tragic and intriguing case. I dip into the Claudia Lawrence thread and threads about JonBenet Ramsay too.

Eta also the guy in London recently charged with murdering 4 young gay men initially thought to be suicides - Stephen Port.
.

Yes I've been following these as well, especially the australian one (I come from rural part of Oz)

Re. other cases: I'm following Chance Walsh and Justice Rees - both dreadful cases of newborns killed or allowed to die by their parents. Also I came across the case of Gypsy Rose Blancharde this morning on WS and can't stop reading it! Very interesting. Also Brendan Creato who was found deceased in a park and there seems to be no obvious cause of death. The Hae Min Lee/Adnan Syed case (anybody else here listen to Serial or Undisclosed podcasts?). Also Claudia Lawrence, although sadly there are very few updates these days :(

I first came onto WS during the Jo Yeates case. And then Tia Sharp. Both such a tragic waste, lost to sad lonely men who couldn't control themselves.

Which cases are you following, CovermeCagney?

I doubt I can follow any more missing person cases or murders after this. I find it too depressing and bleak. I just want to see justice done for poor Becky. The one case I have followed a bit is Claudia Lawrence partly because she lived not too far from where I live. It's a horrible thought that there are evil people out there not getting caught. Especially now that I have my own child- this world terrifies me to be honest.

Totally agree - although I am a bit of a true crime addict so can't imagine I will stop after this. It is terrifying once you have children and realise how vulnerable they are (and we ALL are!) - my son has just turned 11 and is wanting to walk to places on his own, and it really terrifies me if I think too much about it. Am going to work on letting him go very slowly :)

Well I've got over 70 in my subs list, but some of those are "dormant" I suppose - waiting for trials or long term missings.

Current "very active" ones - Deorr Kunz, Kyrian Knox, William Tyrell, Chance, Bella, Hailey. Mainly little kids - my new years resolution is to try and follow less of these...

Mikaeel Kular was the one that brought me here. And then Hannah Graham.

Being British I would love to see Claudia Lawrence found, tat one been's bugging me for way too long :(

Ah yes, Mikaeel Kular was heartbreaking. What's the latest on Hannah Graham - are we just waiting for trial now? Somebody MUST know more than they are telling re CL, you don't just disappear into thin air.

BIB I feel the similarly about this, but this is the first UK case I have followed on any forum.
But the only thing that stops me not getting too depressed about it is that it is so off the scale in it's brutality and the squalid lifestyle, that I can't quite compute , if you get my drift.( Another planet)

Also, the fact that I have not followed the case since day one, means I don't feel as emotionally invested in it as I think I would be if I was following the case from the search days. I cannot imagine how long-term case followers will feel if it results in injustice ( due to poor investigative work, prosecution case etc)

Edit :.....well I can imagine how they will feel and that's why I keep mentioning potential "closure".

I have no doubt the jury will deliberate long and hard on this one once they begin.

It's very unlikely that NM would be inappropriate towards BW in front of her father. I know he's dumb, but maybe not that dumb...

Talking from my own personal experience here and without going into too much detail. I dealt with years of extreme nastiness from my in laws - often within my own home.
My OH saw none of this, because, in front of him, they were always surface polite to me and, after a few attempts to try and tell OH...I then gave up and just dealt with them in my own way.
Bear in mind that I was in my 30s at the time and I am not a shy person in any way, but it left deep scars for me.
So I can well understand how NM could have frightened and intimidated a young, shy teenager and made all kinds of creepy advances towards her, without DG or AG being aware of what he was up to.

Sorry Edgedweller, I meant to copy a different post, not this one of yours ! I do agree with you, no way would NM do anything in front of DG and AG - only sneakily behind their backs.

Yes I think so. They wanted to get the previous attack in court first. Need to go and look for an update.

Oh my other hot topic is Jason Callaghan / Grateful Doe. GD is an unidentified found in a car crash 20 years ago. Last year a reconstruction was released and a lady came forward saying she thinks it's her son JC. We've been waiting a YEAR to get DNA results back. Florida cases are generally interesting because of the Sunshine Laws (full transparency), we get ALL the gory details on those cases, grim but fascinating!

Re following cases

I followed Joanna Yeates on here, but at the time I was not signed up and did not post.... I kept meaning to sign up ! but the threads moved so fast and I had limited time

Also followed actively Tia Sharp and Mikaeel Kular and April Jones and the more recent Karen Buckley case

I have followed Claudia Lawrence from the beginning and, like everyone else, hope for a conclusion - but sadly fear too much time has gone by and tracks have been very carefully covered over.

I understand what some people are saying re it being hard to follow a case where we are reading about extremes of evil and horror and for this reason, I don't follow many.
However, if there is a case in the news that grabs my attention, then to be able to come on here and talk things through with others, I find very helpful and far preferable to having so many thoughts going round in my head.
Additionally, I learn so much from many of the posters on here and I find it fascinating to get others viewpoints and see different angles on a case.

Can someone please give me a link where I can read about the conversations between Becky and SH related to Becky's intimacy? It is the first time I am learning about this. I have no idea.

Perhaps these conversations where referred in SH interviews and I can understand almost nothing of her Bristolian accent...

TY.

I have followed many cases here on WS but this is the first that I have followed from the very beginning through to trial. It's a surreal experience to feel so involved from another part of our planet. I feel like I know Becky and I've lost her. If I feel the loss I can't imagine the pain and suffering of Becky's family and friends. I will follow this through and take a little break. I have 2 cases that will be coming up for trial soon so I'll be keeping my eye on those.

I think it's a very different experience when you read the first post and follow along to the final outcome than when you just pop in and out. I pop in and out quite a bit on various threads.

This post in a previous thread by epiphany sets out a lot of detail about this - hope I can link it, post no #948 on 24th October

My O My, but isn't Shauna just totally wrapped up in Becky's emerging, developing sexuality...my guess is that the bells were ringing for the police during this early interview:

When asked to provide a profile of Becky, Shauna contributes the following:

<snip>

Hoare said when Becky started getting boyfriends Becky asked Hoare about sex, if it hurt and was it boring?

She said: "Apart from that she didn't really mention boys at all..."

But, Ah, Shauna goes on:

She said that, having gone on the birth control pill but fearing it would make her gain weight, Becky had a contraceptive implant installed.

She told police: "As far as I was concerned she was still a virgin."

Re Becky's anorexia, Shauna incl the following:

<snip>

"She lost weight and got more attention off boys.

"She wore make up and padded bras. It made her feel more womanly. I think she felt more appealing to people.

http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Becky-W...ail/story.html

When discussing that no clothes appear to be missing, Shauna focuses on Becky's hygiene. This out of the mouth of a pregnant female who is using a Lego bucket for her own hygienic needs, not allowed in her own bathroom for 2-3 days and is not overly concerned enough to ask her partner too many questions about what's going on with her own bathroom:

<snip>

"That's not like Becky. She doesn't wear the same clothes over and over again, she's very hygienic. She changes her clothes twice a day and has two showers a day.

http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Becky-W...ail/story.html

But it's the bolded part ^^, that is mind blowing imo. She's not her Mum, not her BFF, nor is she her psychologist or counselor and yet she feels the need to incl all of that, rather than something along the lines of:

She has a BF now, but I don't think she's sexually active yet...I could accept that. Shauna felt the need to offer her personal opinion on Becky's sexual "status."

It's downright bizarre imo.

This ^^ contributes to my opinion that there was a sexual motive, one Shauna was a part of & had an interest in, to Becky's kidnap & murder.

Speculation: Both needed to move in on Becky before she became completely sexually active. Certainly, they were both aware of the status of her relationship w/her BF and felt they would be running out of time pretty soon

Re following cases

I understand what some people are saying re it being hard to follow a case where we are reading about extremes of evil and horror and for this reason, I don't follow many.
However, if there is a case in the news that grabs my attention, then to be able to come on here and talk things through with others, I find very helpful and far preferable to having so many thoughts going round in my head.

I think I've mentioned before that the first case I ever posted about was the Ipswich murders and I think it was the feeling of utter helplessnes that led me to discuss it online. It differed from many other cases in that it involved a suspected serial killer who was continuing to kill, whilst operating in a very localised area without getting caught. I found it so hard to accept that despite police knowing who was being targeted(women working as prostitutes) and where(Ipswich's red light district), he was still able to carry on killing. So as we were discussing it there would be news that another body had been found. Then there was the utter sadness that women, through desperation linked to drug addiction, were still having to work in the area where they knew he was operating, knowing they could be the next victim. It was such a sad situation and because I couldn't physically help I think I needed to at least try to make sense of it all. He ended up killing five women in total, all were working as prostitutes due to drug addiction. Just incredibly sad.

Madeleine went missing a few months later so I discussed that too but withdrew from that in the end because it became a ridiculous battleground that still continues to this day,a battle between "pros" and "antis" that seems to have little to do with Madeleine anymore and has already resulted in one person committing suicide after being doorstepped on national TV for expressing an opinion online. Madness.

So Becky's case is the first case where I've got involved with discussions since Madeleine. I tended to just follow the online debates rather than join in. At the moment I check in to see if there's updates on William Tyrrell (Aus) and Claudia Lawrence(UK), and followed Joanna Yates(UK), Hannah Graham (US)and Haleigh Cummings (US) here too.

I think the interview, though not in full, is in this article. Hope it helps.

I hear you, Tealgrove. After following this case I now feel like I know/knew Becky and her family. I really want to see them get their justice. Here's hoping.

I'd forgotten this, Feb 27th, before she knows she'd dead and she'd already referring to her in the past tense , and you can feel her dislike and envy can't you.
Hoare told police: "She was very good at making people do what she wanted, one way or another.

"She knew how to work people.

And this bit about her anorexia. WOW.. More confident = More of a threat?

Hoare said: "Anorexia made her more confident.

"She lost weight and got more attention off boys.

"She wore make up and padded bras. It made her feel more womanly. I think she felt more appealing to people.

"It didn't make her more depressed or emotional.

"It made her a lot more confident."

Interesting when you think of this part of the interview:

Firstly, the part about punishment seems more important now - either she is backing up NM's story about kidnapping to teach her a lesson ...... or she was the one who thought of the idea and this is its first airing?
?

The kidnap idea is supposed to be something SH remembered a foster mother saying they ought to do to teach a boy a lesson. SH's admitted that she did tell NM the story, though says she told him years ago. But looking at those quotes where she points out Becky's lack of punishments it does make you wonder if she suggested the idea of kidnapping Becky to NM. Planted the seeds...
