James Ireland 'thought he was helping Matthews move home'
The trial has resumed at Bristol Crown Court, with Sean Hammond defending James Ireland - who is charged with assisting an offender.
Mr Hammond states the prosecution charge against Ireland, saying he was originally believed to have helped store Becky’s body but is now only accused of transporting the body parts.
He adds that Ireland did not know Nathan Matthews, has no previous convictions, and is only involved in the case after being “used” by Karl Demetrius.
He tells the jury: “James Ireland is a decent, honest and trusting young man. Everything that happened that night is consistent with what Karl Demetrius told him - that NM had been kicked out of his home.”
