IMO It's in no one's interest for DD and JI to go to prison.
No prior records, both worked for a living, both contributed to society (even if they did skive a bit).
Sending them to prison just means the tax payer has to pay to keep them off the street, when they're not actually any danger to society.

Personally, I have some doubt about how innocent JI was, if only because of his accurate quoting of the 5K. I know it cant be proven as it is his word against his mate's but it seems more than a coincidence that he came up with that exact figure.
Having said that, I can well believe KD and JP conspired to keep all the money for themselves.
I would be inclined to give JI a suspended sentence in light of the fact he has already done just over 8 months on remand.

DD I dont see anything to convict him, would find him not guilty.

[h=3]'Innocent explanations for deleted messages'[/h]The court has previously heard Donovan Demetrius deleted a number of messages sent between him and Karl between February 21 and February 25 - two days either side of Becky’s body being moved.
Mr George tells the jury there are ‘innocent explanations’ for the messages being deleted. Donovan claims the messages were deleted to free up memory space on his phone.
Mr George adds that of 33 messages police were not able to recover, only five were between Karl and Donovan.

Oh that's interesting. Wonder how it got put into previous information - one word can change so much.

expecting judge to adjourn until tomorrow for his summing up. hope not though.

ETA - maybe he'll start with NM/SH (already prepared) and finish up with JI/DD tomorrow from today's speeches.

Yes, I thought he would at least begin his summing up today and, as you say, do NM and SH as he has had time to write that part - or perhaps just do NM today as he and SH will take the bulk of the summary.

Then SH tomorrow , followed by JI and DD in the afternoon and Jury out very late PM ?

It really depends on the judge and I know nothing about this one. The one we had went through everything in fine detail but was speed reading.

I'm trying to think how much there is to get through, he could finish by lunch time tomorrow I'd have thought.

[h=3]Demetrius 'showed his humanity' during evidence[/h]Mr George is now speaking about Donovan Demetrius’ occasional emotional outbursts while giving evidence. At one stage Donovan launched a verbal attack on Nathan Matthews claiming he ‘couldn’t be bothered to look at the family he destroyed’.
Mr George said it showed the ‘human side’ of the defendant and the authenticity of his evidence.
He told the jury: “He wasn’t trying to hide who he was, he could have hidden that anger.
“He had some things to say and he said them. Whether he shouldn’t or should have, because he is a human being.
“It’s an emotional case for most people, for him particularly, are they fake emotions? He showed his humanity... now all he asks if for you to do the same.”

Late to it today! Just speed read everything and have ;pretty much decided I'd like JI and DD to walk free. Perhaps bosh a suspended sentence on them just to be sure, but I don't think either are guilty, and JI has already been inside for several months.

As for KD/JP I'm disappointed not to have heard anything from them. On that basis give her a year and him 2. Or similar. Maybe suspended for her/them too for the sake of the children.

I'm really only interested in NM/SH getting stiff sentences. The others may have been stupid/greedy/naive or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. They clearly didn't know they were complicit in anything to do with Becky at first. Whether they thought they were stashing drugs or stolen goods is just not of interest to me, I don't find it relevant to this case.

That is all, your honour ;)

[h=3]Evidence concludes[/h]Mr George has now finished his closing speech for the defence of Donovan Demetrius - concluding the evidence for all four defendants.
After a short break for lunch, the court is set to hear the summing up of all the evidence from the judge, Mr Justice Dingemans.
The judge will also have the opportunity to give directions which may be useful to the jury.

Thanks all for the tweets and summaries.
This is the first trial I have followed in the UK and I am very interested to hear the judge's summary as AFAIK judges here in the US do not do that.

I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who has been on this thread for Becky. It's been a long road since we first heard that she went missing to now hearing the court case. Thanks, too, for posting the tweets and articles covering the trial. That's a load of hard work.

As this case wraps up, my wish is that SH and NM go down hard for what they did to BW. My thoughts on the other four...KD and JP guilty (max 1 year in prison), JI guilty (time served) and DD not guilty. It's all such a travesty.

to be honest I'm not expecting much in the way of tweets about the summing up. It really is just a repeat of everything and it would be very hard to tweet that information verbatim because there aren't pauses etc. like when questions are being asked of witnesses and answered. we shall see though, I might be wrong.
