what happens if they dont reach a verdict? they have to decide whether to retry him or not?

The problem they have I think is as long as the police man says Rikki wasnt in that clearing that night then its hard to prove Watson did it. You would have thought that would have been taken into consideration before CPS ever allowed it to go to court really. IF it goes to court again then the Prosecution IMO really need to handle the case better in court although I wonder if it will ever go back to court..if theres no verdict tomorrow of course :(

I kind of wonder didnt the Jury believe the evidence about the alleged phone call from Watson to his mother a few days before Rikki was murdered saying a young child had apparently been found murdered in the spot that he was eventually found in? for me that was what originally made me feel he was guilty. I know the mother and sister discounted it. The other key thing for me was the evidence from Silveri(?) saying Rikki wasnt there that night when he looked. I think the Prosecution screwed up by not asking what time Watson got back to the home that night and also by asking was he in school the next day. I know it was said that two days after the murder it was his first FULL day in school but that doesnt say anything about the day before. I also think the Prosecution spent too long on Ruth and I think she came across horrible on the stand. It was pretty obvious her testimony about her parenting was very very different to all the witnesses but...she wasnt the one on trial. If I was on the Jury the testimony from the social services saying 24 hours earlier she had threatened to kill him if he wasnt removed would have thrown me and I dont know why the Prosecution even put that in. Its almost like they wanted to lose the case.

I am shocked. Actually not sure how I feel. I guess they decided to ignore the testimony of the police man who said he wasnt there and others who said they saw him alive that night. I just hope they have the right person tbh

I was a bit surprised to see this verdict, this case seemed quite complicated. Hopefully justice has been done!

Justice for Rikki Neave after nearly 30 years: Man, 41, is found GUILTY of schoolboy's 1994 murder | Daily Mail Online

Ugh "
She praised jurors for making the 'right decision' and thanked 'people that believed in me and Rikki'.

'This is not the time to celebrate, as it should never have happened,' said Ms Neave.

She described police and social services in the original investigation as 'framing me for my son's murder'.

'Neglect and cruelty were used by these people to cover their own failings, information was gathered from liars, who gave multiple statements with many different versions of their lies,' she said.

'Statements were released to the media and I was not allowed to defend myself because of a gagging order from social services, so anyone could say anything and get away with it.'

Under testimony in court she said she didnt commit abuse...all witnesses said she did...and then says that...
