Ruth Neave was a disgusting excuse of a 'mother'.
Her children *were* abused, and they *were* neglected.
Social services were involved LONG before Rikki went missing, and with good reason.
So reading this he did claim he was sexually assaulted by his dad...and Cambs Police say theres no record his dad was a Cop...interesting

James Watson is 'a fantasist, a dangerous individual, and a compulsive liar', according to police.
Watson came from a broken home in Peterborough and was treated by social services as a 'vulnerable child' from March 1993.
That year, he was interviewed about a complaint that he had sexually assaulted a five-year-old boy.
Then aged 12, Watson denied it and no further action was taken, although years later he admitted it was 'just two boys playing with each other's penises'.
In April 1994, Watson told a family member he was physically assaulted by his father, James Watson senior, who he lived with on the Welland Estate.
On being taken into care, he stayed with foster mother Molly Donald, who he formed an attachment to.
She found him with a shotgun and felt she could not cope so Watson was sent away again, this time to Woodgate's children's home in March, some 20 miles from Peterborough.
Watson frequently played truant from school and would change into civilian clothes, jurors heard.
From enrolling at Walton School in Peterborough to the day of the murder, Watson was marked present on the register 18 times out of a possible 38 school days.
At the age of 13, he became obsessed with the fantasy of strangling a little boy, even telling his mother he had heard a news report about it on the radio.
Three days later, the fantasy came true when he murdered six-year-old Rikki Neave at around midday on November 28 1994, the prosecution said.
He stripped him naked for his own sexual gratification, 'exhibiting' the posed body to be found near a children's den in the woods, prosecutor John Price QC said.
Afterwards, Watson became 'fascinated' by his own actions and made copious copies of newspaper stories, jurors were told.
He even told teachers that he knew Rikki as the brother of a friend, one of a multitude of lies.
Watson 'cursed' the fact he been seen with Rikki by an elderly lady, leaving him no option but to admit an encounter when police called on December 5 1994.
Watson's account was peppered with lies but went unchallenged for more than 20 years as police wrongly pursued Rikki's mother Ruth.
Meanwhile, care workers noted his bizarre behaviour, masturbating over a children's clothes catalogue, keeping a dead pheasant in his room, and once allegedly throttling a member of staff with a stocking.
He moved to another care home, and despite knowing he was gay from an early age, formed a relationship with a girl, aged 15.
In 2016, she told police Watson once killed and posed a bird and would strangle her when they had sex in woods.
Watson clocked up a long list of convictions for petty crimes, including setting fire to a British Transport Police station in Peterborough.

In his evidence, Watson said he would steal cars for 'fun' and claimed he felt aggrieved at police because of their role in taking him away from his family.
He also claimed his late father had been a police officer, although Cambridgeshire Police say there is no record of it.

Because there is no way a 13yr old can do what he did, without others knowing. It's impossible. Especially on such an insular place as the Welland. And 13yr olds *cannot* keep secrets, they just can't.

I find it’s so hard to get my head round . I think the mother did it .
but reading about that teenager who has now been charged it also seems possible he has done it , looking at his obsessions and character .

He hasnt been charged, he has been convicted.

No charging is before they go to court. He has now been convicted and is awaiting sentencing next month.
this is one thing I dont understand. Looking at photos of him he was only a little thing and didnt look very strong at all. IF the policeman was telling the truth where was he that night? did someone in his family move him and then take him back? or someone else come to that. I do think the mother must have known something because of the phone call where he said about the baby dieing although she denied knowing about that as did the sister. I cant get over him having a gun when he was in a foster home. I mean he was only around 12 or so then.

If I am being honest in our town - a town where the Harveys live and Rikki spent his earlier years although people were happy I guess there was a conviction most people share Rochelles views. Ok I will say she is a victim as per WS rules as her son was murdered which would be horrific for any mother but she says she gave him too much freedom when witnesses said he would be outside in the cold crying because of his mother. There were witnesses who confirmed in court he testified in court that he collected her drugs for her - a six year old child on a big city estate like Welland and late at night too. Yesterday she seemed to imply that him going to school on his own that day was unusual and that she regretted it but again the head teacher testified in court that he would go to school on his own and late as he had to get his own breakfast and see to the younger kids. Dean Neave seemed to think she had serious drug issues and didnt like how he treated her kids and again that was evidence in court. Another witness said she bought drugs off her mother and another said he bought drugs off her and that he thought Rikki was a cheeky little boy. As much as Watson is a serious liar everything she also says can be proven to be false and I think this just does her more damage to be honest.

One thing I can’t grasp is that two boys were seen in darkness with a pram moving a large child. This child was suspected to be Rikki. Of the sketches of the boys pushing the pram, one is clearly James Watson. So there must be some element of truth to this sighting.
Who is the other boy? And how come this sighting hasn’t been mentioned now for years.
it adds a whole different slant on the investigation.

Has anyone seen the ITV archive footage of Watson 3 years later in 1997? It states he lived with his father at this point and they are talking about an arson attack on the property. Which, knowing what we know now might’ve been himself.
Except James Watson was living in March at the time and getting picked up after school by taxi so wouldnt been in Peterborough. Also if two boys were seen with this pram why did they originally say Ruth had taken him over in a pram?
yeah but equally in a paper today it said his dad had been convicted of sex offences so could been because of that....sounds interesting to watch though.

It’s always baffled me. Because one of the sketches is a striking resemblance to Watson. One theory I thought of when I first heard of this was that Ruth had killed Rikki, and paid the two boys to dispose of the body. I no longer think this but it would be interesting to know who made the claim of the pram sighting. All I can think of is that it was someone who suspected two certain boys to be involved so made up the claim to point the finger?? I cannot come to any other conclusion.
