This video is actually of Beinash Batool and Faisal Malik giving their 'no comment' interviews. He needed an interpreter. His allegedly assiduous attendance at Portsmouth University doesn't seem to have helped his English.
I'm appalled that (in face of all the evidence), they were advised to give 'no comment' responses.

Its unlikely they would take Sara's preference into account at such an early age (4/5). In any event, I expect U groomed the children accordingly.
The BBC article shows more info. It may not be as simple as he just groomed them.

I saw that there will be an inquest and a child safeguarding review. I know that health, school, children's services etc will be investigated. I really hope that the family court decision will also be looked into. Handing children to a parent who has a long history of violence against women and children makes no sense.
The Family Court relies upon reports (from Childrens Social Care and CAFCAS (in cases of child custody)) and makes decisions based on the findings in those reports. The blame solely lies at Childrens Social Care's feet.

This is the statement from the Childrens Commissioner Statement from the Children's Commissioner on the murder of Sara Sharif | Children's Commissioner for England

In my opinion, we need to start again with how we put strategies in place to protect children from those that are supposed to love them. I do agree that schools need to be able to play a larger part, at the moment they report and that is all, they need to be part of the decision making too, as they see the child on a daily basis.

From personal experience I can tell you what happens when a school reports a concern to CSC. CSC has a triage system and they make contact with the resident parent(s). If the parent(s) refuse to meet CSC, or refuse help - that's it, case closed.

Look at her Left ankle in this picture
I noticed that too. I also thought that the toes looked bruised, but it could be the definition in the picture.

This discussion was had on a previous thread. Imagine if you lived and worked or studied in a foreign country but your first language is English. In daily life you can interact and having enough of grasp of the second language to get by. Plus, that immersion is itself an opportunity to learn the language. If you don't know a word, you can always look it up later. The consequences of a miscommunication are unlikely to involve a risk of something detrimental happening to you.

But... if you're arrested for murder, do you still take your chances with your second language or do you request an interpreter in your first language?

I just watched short video clips on today's BBC online news of the police interviews with each of them - all answering no comment, but FM required all of his questions to be completely translated for him, whereas the other two did not.
How was FM managing a course at an English university with so little understanding of English Language? If a course was all online- then could it not be done in any country?
If you're entitled to the services of an interpreter it's a wise move to accept. As well as avoiding misunderstandings, it gives you extra thinking time before answering.

I'm not asking for anyone to confirm it because I know it's not our business, but I hope Olga has her son back and I hope she and he can heal and have peace.
I don't know, I just don't. That poor boy has been bought up in continuous violence. I think he will need substantial therapy to undo any 'learned behaviours' (if he has any). I hope the very best for him and I hope he has a good life (wherever that may be).

Plenty in today’s reporting of the timeline of Sara’s life, including the testimony of foster parents suggests that none of the parents or step parents provided a safe and secure environment . I am being cautious because I know the mods are rightly vigilant about allegations about people not on trial.

It would be a lovely idea to think of comforting re-unification. It could also be the case that that is unrealistic.

Indeed. But many years have passed and Olga is now in her home country with the support of her family around her; I would hope she is far from the woman she was when she lived with and was abused by Urfan Sharif as an isolated young woman in a country she did not know well.

I really don't want to speculate on this any further here though.

It seems incredulous that Sara and her brother were given back to Urfan and that alarm bells did not ring with social services when the school reported seeing bruises on Sara.

Before Sara was even born, the family was known to police and children's services. Records show police were involved four times between 2010 and 2012.

Surrey County Council children's services were in contact from 2010, while hearings at the family court, in Surrey, began just before Sara was born.

This was because of growing concerns of neglect and violence in the family, including against one of Sara's siblings, referred to in court as "Z".

In 2010, "Z" was found alone in a shop aged just three. Later that year Sharif was arrested for assaulting Ms Domin. During the fight he hit "Z", leaving a hand print on the child's back.
In 2011, "Z" told teachers "daddy hit me", and the following year told them "mummy hit me". The child was found with a burn mark and was again discovered alone in public, this time in Woking Town Centre - half a mile from the family home.

Social workers recorded "unexplained injuries" to "Z" and another of Sara's siblings, referred to in court as "U". Before Sara was born there were further allegations of assaults against the children, all were denied.

Then there was an incident in 2013, when "Z" was burned by an iron. When social workers visited their home, they found no light bulbs or bedding in the children's bedrooms.
This meant Sara was under a care order soon after she was born. It gave the local authority legal responsibility for Sara and her two siblings, and social workers made frequent visits to the family home.

She was first taken into foster care for a short period in November 2014, when she was almost two, after "Z" complained of being bitten "very hard" by Ms Domin and "pinched and punched" by Sharif.

Foster carers noticed what looked like cigarette burns on both Sara and "U". Ms Domin and Sharif said they were chicken pox scars.

Some people really are born unlucky. :(

Rest in peace Sara. You deserved a different life.

Speculation is rife by some.
Against a person who is treated by authorities as a victim.
As some say:
Kicking the one who is already destroyed by grief
and was once abused by a psychopathic murderer.

Long time lurker and have lurked in this case, I have to say that I feel for the jury members in this case.

I recently did jury service in England and it was a very emotionally difficult experience (a young girl molested by her grandfather who was also her father, generational abuse). You have to take it seriously and directions are reiterated so many times by the judge in court.

But you can't talk about anything to do with the case until verdict which can be so emotionally difficult, particularly when all of your loved ones are living their normal life.

So bravo to the jury and I hope they heal with time.

While I'm happy the jury delivered a verdict which gives Sara justice . And the three defendants hopefully will be sentenced for many many years .

Reading the article on the 15 opportunities missed to save Sara from needing this day of justice is horrendous.
The incompetence of SS and the family courts to the point of allowing a known abuser have custody is beyond believable . I feel each person who signed the forms giving Sara to this horrible evil man should also be charged with causing or allowing because in my opinion they knowingly sent Sara to the lions den to be further abused and ultimately murdered .

This is gross negligence of the highest order .often in cases where a child is beaten to death SS is involved to some degree and I often think prehaps the abuse was so hidden or excuses made the wool was pulled over the child protection officers eyes but urfans history was laid out before them and still they ignored that knowledge. How many other cases where it hasn't resulted in death that we haven't heard about have SS been aware of previous but chose to do the exact opposite of what they are suppose to do which is child protection

Feigned pain imo considering he lied to Pakistan police at the start and had his sons evaded having to face justice and had Pakistani police not applied pressure would be happily having nice meals with his murderous sons and daughter in law
Agreed

Home schooling should be supervised by Educational Authorities.
There is basic compulsory curriculum for every level and the homeschooled kids must take exams at the end of each term (as is in my school).

Homeschooling seems to become an excuse for abusers to keep their victims prisoners in the house and torture them with nobody any wiser.

Out of sight
Must Not Mean
Out of Mind.

Every child has a right to education
and supervision is necessary.

Also,
Abolition of physical punishment is a must too in civilized countries.

There is no such thing as "legal physical punishment"
so eagerly taken advantage by sick abusers.

Just my 2 cents.
For the beginning.

And no, this is not off topic.

Sara was a victim of being taken out of school,
far from teachers' attention.
Teachers should call Police directly if they have any suspicions of abuse.
Just as doctors do.
(In case of minors)

These are basic issues -
for the sake of children.

Whilst I agree with you about SS, it was news to me today that O agreed for U to have custody. I cannot imagine the stress she was under at the time, but there is no way I would leave a child of mine with a man like that.

The judge who made the decision was the same one who had been involved in the hearings from 2013 to 2015, and was aware of all the previous allegations.

Ms Domin, who consented to the arrangement, was to have contact for two hours every Saturday, supervised by Batool. This later broke down, ending Sara's contact with her mother.
