I've seen friends share posts on FB about this. Hope she is found soon, it's snowing and very cold.

News report mentions that she was wearing a onsie and a puffa jacket, but have seen an update on FB by the family saying they have found these items at home and it is believed she was wearing a vest top and shorts! I hope not, it is freezing.

The vest top and shorts was confirmed by her sister. They caught her on cctv walking toward the sea wearing a black vest top and light coloured shorts.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think this will have a happy ending

I feel so scared for her, and so sad for her family. Impossible to comment without knowing the details, but it sounds like she made an emotional decision to storm out in the heat of the moment, if only she had slept on it, whatever it was that was troubling her could surely have been resolved. So upsetting

Family of missing Gorleston student Sophie Smith, 21, ‘overwhelmed’ at support as search goes on

Insp Will Drummond, who is leading the search efforts for Norfolk police, had said Sophie had “withdrawn” in the run up to her disappearance and they do not believe her disappearance to be suspicious.

He added: “I know that Sophie has been going through a rough time prior to going missing. I can’t really say anymore than that at the moment but it forms part of our enquiries.

“This is the first time she has gone missing which makes it very concerning for us and also the fact she doesn’t have a mobile phone with her so it would be very hard for her to reach out or for us to make contact with her.

“We are increasingly concerned about her due to her previous behaviour just before going, and the fact we think she left so unprepared for the weather with regards to clothing.

Feels like it's Gaia all over again. Hoping for a better outcome.

That’s what I thought. Sophie seen running on neighbours CCTV. Inappropriate clothing for the cold weather. I’m just hoping we don’t have the same outcome as poor Gaia.

That's exactly what I came on to post, sadly I don't see a different outcome

I also feel this is a similar case to poor Gaia :( It is so cold, that she would have to be staying with someone to be ok, as no purse for a hotel or anything.

From the local news paper in Great Yarmouth.

Police Inspector Drummond - "Sophie suffers from servere anxiety and depression which she is being treated for"

Officer also states " [FONT=&quot]There was a level of what I would call preparation prior to running away. I think the combination of the preparation and her mental state at the time, comments made, may suggest there is a likelihood that unfortunately she may have gone into the sea. "

Almst identical to Gaia Pope recently and seems like the same outcome will happen, I do hope not though.

She's such a pretty young woman! I hope she is hiding and comes back home soon. But in this weather ... without a coat ...

How long she's been gone now? More than 60 hours? What are the daytime temps there now?

ETA: according to weather.com it's freezing at night and barely above freezing in the day :( Though slightly higher temps are forecast for the coming days - around 10 C/50F in the day, above freezing at night - not enough though to avoid hypothermia imo.

I’m in Norwich at the moment, and we were out at the coast earlier. It’s absolutely freezing - temp is probably above 0, but definitely feels significantly colder. I’m struggling to see a positive outcome for Sophie unfortunately, it’s just so cold out

"We have a possible CCTV image of Sophie heading towards the seafront but, despite all our efforts, we have found no further trace of her."

Insp Drummond said police officers were in "close contact with Sophie's family".

"However, due to the circumstances in which she left home with minimal clothing, no mobile phone, her mental state and the weather conditions, the hope of finding Sophie safe and well diminishes as time goes on," he said.
