UK - Storm Eunice - February 2022

Still very very windy here in Gloucestershire. My work colleague's husband is a police officer and they have 31,000 outstanding incidents!!! Lots of trees down and a lorry overturned on the motorway but other than that thankfully no one has been injured locally to us.
He has also said the ambulance service in the South West are apparently going on to black alert due to the volume of calls.

31,000, jeez!

It’s picking up here now, still blue and sunny but I’ve just been out in the garden and I can hear the roar from a distance. My garden is mainly well sheltered but is open to fields at the back so when it’s windy we either get nothing or it’s like a wind tunnel. South facing so we might be about to get clobbered. Have put my lanterns and a few other bits away, just in case.

Starting to get a bit windy here in the Scottish borders ( South western end). Been snowing off and on all day.

Been watching big jet tv all morning. God it's awful.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm concerned my asda shop won't arrive with my wine :D

Hope all are safe and well.

Storm Eunice blows off rooftops with highest wind speeds on record in England - CNN
''A sting jet could hit

Meteorologists have also raised the possibility of a sting jet, the weather phenomenon which made the 1987 Great Storm so destructive and deadly. Eighteen people were killed in that storm and 15 million trees were blown down in winds that topped 100 mph.
A sting jet is a very narrow and concentrated blast of powerful, upper-level winds that can form inside powerful weather systems. It descends to the the Earth's surface and can last a few hours, potentially causing damage to life and property, according to CNN meteorologist Derek Van Dam.
"The 'sting' refers to the cloud formation it creates, which resembles a scorpion's stinger," he said.''

Crikey. I think you can call 999 for that on a Friday :D

It's apparently national wine day too! Fear not, the funeral director neighbours on call to box me up if it doesn't arrive.

It’s calmed down here in bristol! My boyfriend really wanted to go to his studio which is just a couple minutes away, so I made him take his bike helmet just in case.

Also, I stuffed foam tape in the window frame in an attempt to stop the windows from rattling, but I inadvertently created a whistle… If the wind hits it the right way it sounds like a giant balloon whistling. No rattling though!

I'm in West Yorkshire, and we just lost lost our garage when the roof blew off, and the neighbours tree, which is over a 100 feet tall has already lost one of its huge branches. I'd say, the storm has arrived here.

Whereabouts, Muggles? I’m in W Yorks too (Leeds) and it’s blowy, not as bad as it was on Weds night yet though.

I'm between Wakefield and Huddersfield, but unfortunately we live next to a woodland. Which seems to make a wind tunnel. We are getting really strong gust, and have been for the last hour

I usually love having trees around the house but today for the first time I didn’t love it. Still got my eye on the silver birch out there.

So sorry about your garage, don’t be going out to pick up yet tho will you? I saw that a man in Ireland died while clearing up debris :(

My sister lives in Cambridge and has been in the hospital with a broken shoulder. She was scheduled to go home yesterday. She needs help to do day to day activities. How is this storm affecting Cambridge.

I think trains will be affected at the moment and possibly some public transport. Winds are probably around 50-60 mph for the next hour or so. But generally, the area hasn’t been as badly hit as others as far as I know.

Definitely not going out, the neighbours tree is scaring me with its creaking! We only just cleaned up the fence from storm Dudley

That poor man was a Wexford county council worker, killed while out doing his job to make things safer for everyone else. Just dreadfully sad. Stay safe everyone! I hear it's bad in Britain now.

Thank you. A little worried about her.

Two people have died from a falling tree and flying debris, as fierce winds from Storm Eunice sweep across the UK.

A woman in her 30s in north London died when a tree fell onto her car, while a man in his 50s in Merseyside was killed as debris hit his windscreen.

Another person was killed in Ireland, while the storm also closed schools, cancelled flights and trains, and tore off roofs.
