Which phone book are you using?

British Telecom archives Historic Phone Books 1880-1984.

I only bothered searching 80 through 84.

Right, more Foxy thoughts before that book gets published, because I looked up my old notes on the "Lamplugh Event", and this is my list. c. 2020 I wrote [Under "Perp's Profile, paragraph 3" - I'm entitled to get pretentious between the pages of one of my own notebooks :p] "Potential jobs. Menial or temporary, one difficult to fill, so references not looked at too closely:- waiter, groundsman, janitor, barman, sports coach or lifeguard, receptionist, first response medic" and so on.

I know barman is in there, but I want to give up a couple of reservations I have against the current favourite suspect.

I don't think it's giving away too much to say this old Fox has been in a lot of pubs, both sides of the bar, and these are my questions.
How old was the landlord? At the time a pub landlord was typically between 40 and 50 years old.

Was he physically able to carry out this event without help?

The breweries [and most pubs were Tied Houses]... If any US person is reading, that means they are tied to selling only the beer made by a specific brewery, usually the one with its name emblazoned on the front of the building. The opposite being a Free House i.e. a pub entitled to choose which beers to offer... The breweries preferred their licence-holders to be a married couple, so he was likely married.
Now, plenty of murderers are married, but in the case of a pub landlord, it means his living quarters are rarely empty of spouse or children. His children play around the pub buildings out of hours, and the cellar is not an unoccupied sanctuary either, the staff are changing barrels, carrying out crates empties etc. A pub is not an ideal place for committing murder, do it on the premises, and it leaves traces that will get you caught.

Which brings me to my last point. The reason landlords live on the premises is because it's a 24/7 job. Even if they have a day off, there will be some crisis or other that will have the staff waiting at the door for the boss.

I'm not saying the pub isn't a locus of this event, but the Fox would look lower down the food-chain.

OK, done. Now y'all can shoot me down...

Suzy "effectively crossed paths with the killer" (David Videcette). This suggests it isn't the person she had arranged to meet at 12.45. It could be anyone really - a stalker for instance .

Interesting? What could this mean ?

Yes, Fox has already suggested the stalker theory to a resounding silence :D, I think I suggested that it was a fellow commuter on the tube [USA London Underground), but the pub will do just as well...even walking on a hot summers day across Fulham Railway Bridge [It also has a pedestrian walkway], a stalker's gift. But I think he'd like the tube, it can get very crowded, allowing him to get as up close and personal to Suzy without actually having to speak to her.

On another note, what sort of a forensic examination did the Sturgis car get - Sorry to get really morbid, but do we know whether there was ever a body in the boot of the Fiesta?

One problem with the landlord theory. If he was involved in the crime, why not just destroy the items, and say Suzie had collected them. Who'd know?

Well...... He needed these items as a ruse to meet Suzy on her own on the Monday lunchtime perhaps? And maybe he didn't meet her in the pub, he could easily have met her in his car somewhere?

Suzy made a note of the Mr Kipper appointment on the Saturday, didn't she? I guess she was collecting the bonus at 12.45 and wrote Shorrolds Rd to cover her tracks

Have I missed something? What was this bonus she was collecting at 12.45 on the Monday?

So that's why the new book is coming out now...

If I was Videcette I'd have launched the book this Weds to maximise exposure etc.

To be fair to him he hasn't done that.

As far is I can see he's given police a file naming the killer etc, two years have passed with no Met action so he's releasing his work in the form of a book.

Big question is will the actual publication of the book prompt police action?

Or will the 'only suspect is behind bars' line continue?

Again guys, if anyone here is relatively new to the Suzy Lamplugh mystery. There already is a very detailed and researched book already out.

The Suzy Lamplugh Story by Andrew Stephen was published just over a year from when Suzy disappeared.

Although it is expensive (around £40 now on ebay) it is invaluable, well worth a read if you wish to understand this case, especially prior to to David Videcette's upcoming book and because it isn't clouded / has no mention of John Canaan.

I agree, Andrew Stephen's book is extremely well-researched and an excellent read.

There's a couple of interesting reads on Suzy's disappearance by Lolly True Crime on Medium.com. In part two the writer praises Stephen's book and actually uses his book for the source of what happened over the weekend before Suzy disappeared. Although it's only a small section it is still Stephen's account of what happened between Friday to Monday up until the time Suzy leaves the office.

Interestingly Stephen found out that the guy running the pub was only an acting landlord, someone who is only temporarily in charge.

Also the last call ever knowingly made by Suzy from the office was to the pub.

Interesting tweet from David Videcette from two years ago, ahead of upcoming book launch.

He's included too the 'last photograph'. That pic of Suzy was taken at a party on the Saturday night. She is pictured sitting on an unnamed man.

Just a respectful mention today of that person who was Susannah Jane Lamplugh.

A life so wrongfully cut short. Thinking of her family and friends today ....

A heads up too, that two -part 'The Mystery of Suzy Lamplugh' is shown again tonight (28 July) on Sky Crime in the UK. From 9 - 11pm.

I’d like to add that it’s been 35 years to the day the Suzy Lamplugh disappeared without trace. My thoughts go out to the Lamplugh family.
I sincerely hope that the police follow up any new evidence that comes to light regardless of how unlikely it might appear so Suzy can finally be found.
