How about DS seeing TS leaving for Croydon on Friday lunchtime, and offering her a lift. She gets in and something happens...anyway....he knows that they will go out searching for her after she does not come back for dinner....so he lies in wait....when they drive off to funfair, DS smuggles the body back in, in a holdall of sorts.....perhaps a wheely one....and there you go....he coaches SH in how to talk on camera and reminds SH that he has a shady past, and he will need to sound convincing.
.....and CS knows it is DS but is letting SH take the fall, rather than her own blood.

ETA to correct my life to lift.....stupid auto correct

I know it wouldn't necessarily prove who was playing the machines but if eg. the playstation was played that night then Tia could well have been alive just before bedtime. I'd doubt SH would have killed her and then sat on the playstation.

I do agree with you...

but I wouldn't imagine a guy would kill a girl, and sleep beneath her dead body for a week, like SH allegedly did, either. :banghead:

We don't know that they went to the fair. It sounds pretty likely that they didn't. It would account for an hour of time that would look like they were searching when they weren't. But just because they weren't looking doesn't mean CS was aware of Tias murder. It could just be that she wasn't that worried yet. By 7.30 she may have thought, ok, this isn't good. I don't want to have been seen as just sitting around, lets say we went to look at the fair. At this point she wouldn't have known what the outcome was going to be and may have just been covering her own back in case there were questions about her ability to look after Tia.

If that happened SH would not have needed to be cleaning all morning !!

Lol! You've actually managed to make this sound like a farce now, which takes some doing with such a grim case :D

I like alternate theories. They force me to think.

DS would have had a key. He took control of the situation in the early days, to show that he is the responsible one of the family. DS was in control, and may still be.

I do agree with you that DS did seem to be the one in control. He was the first to give press interviews and did appear to be very supportive of SH .He was also there to prompt SH in the interview.

This is what troubles me the most. He seems quite an emotional fella - surely once the cold light of day set in and the realisation of what he'd done, he'd have been panicking and wanting to get the body out ASAP.

I know that serial killers are often quite detached from the gore of death and dead bodies, but for what seems like an un-planned and possibly accidental murder I cannot understand how that body lay there for a week.

Wow the fact that the main concentration of this new thread is about the fair has left my head spinning as hadn't really considered it in too much detail other than as a poor excuse...now my brain is on overdrive trying to figure it out!

My thoughts are going round in circles:

1) It was an attempt to divert the search away from the house - but since there was time to come up with a story then if this was the case why did SH not just say that TS had said she was going to the fair instead of shopping?

2) They were disposing of something in the area, evidence/drugs but then if you're preparing for a police search then why be so concerned about that when there's a body in your loft?

3) Maybe CS/CB allowed TS to get away with more than NS did, maybe she allowed her to go off to meet friends or stay out overnight. SH knowing this could have used it an an excuse for her absence and when she didn't come home they went to an address or area in the vicinity of the fair in case she was there (would have had to be someone dodgy not to come forward). When she wasn't SH convinced her to lie or she'd have to admit to allowing such things in the past, if they knew there were CCTV on route they'd need a reason why they went in that direction.

4) TS was used to transport goods by the family, again SH could have told CS/CB this is what she was doing and when she didn't return they went to the address to look for her, again assuming in the vicinity of the fair. Good reason to lie about why they went in that direction.

All this is assuming that SH had already committed the act by the time CS/CB had returned and that she had no knowledge of the fact. In fact I know they're pretty far fetched assumptions but I can't work out (thanks to you all!!!) why they felt the need to add the fair into the story or why not simply say that's were she said she was going to meet friends....

I find it hard to understand too.I do not understand why the smell in the house did not appear to be as bad as it should have been given a badly decomposed corpse was in the loft of a small house.

after a week of scented candles being burned which seemed to be carried everywhere ?

In depth thinking, but I doubt they'd have covered the smell of the body.

Everything seems to point to the fact that the body was moved to the loft. But at the same time, it's completely implausible.

But the whole house was searched too. I can't believe that the police a) didn't spot something b) didn't smell something.

I find my thoughts going in circles too because both DS and CS seem to be involved in this fair ground visit.

SH said he was with CS and she also searched and DS corrected SH with the correct location of the fair.

If the fair was never visited then it would seem that both DS and CS are lying.

DS could say he was only correcting SH on the location SH originally told him.

not seeing something, i explained that it might be very easy not to see something in the loft of that house due to the way its laid out (i used to live in one)

and depending on how well the body was wrapped up , chances are they wouldn't have smelled much

THe smell would have been very strong after 3/4 days.

The police obviously don't need to reveal all the info to the public/media, if the body was first wrapped in something like cling film presumably this would have prevented the smell from leaking as much? Plus it's something which comes in large cheap rolls at bargain stores so something likely on hand. Plus presumably that would have hindered the PM if it was stuck (eww hate saying that) to the skin? Very long shot and probably not likely...
