Unorganized Searching

Rarely does a thing live up to our expectations.
We all went there and gave our best. The people here who were unable to physically be there to help search still gave their best through generous donations of food and drink and moral and spiritual support. I don't think anyone half-stepped in this unified effort.
It was an honor to have participated in trying to help find that sweet Caylee and my hat goes off to those who are continuing the effort on their own free time on weekends!!!
I only hope that TES will read this thread with an open heart and mind and use it as a "lessons learned" instrument. Even when we do our best there is always room for improvement. . . . Maybe this somewhat painful critique will help eliminate some rough spots for TES should they be faced with a search of this magnitude again.

I can confirm it, I was there. So was BazNme and a few other WS'rs who were team leaders. Like I said in a different thread, it was pretty much a hug fest between TM and MN.

Whoa! Something's not right with that picture!

BTW...FloridaKatz, thankyou for all you did in the search for Caylee. People need to realize that not all searchers had the exact same experience. You are appreciated as are all the other searchers. :blowkiss:

Thanks to all who searched! I was with you all in spirit..

Like others have said, I am with Tim & TES 100% BUT
I was extremely disappointed when I heard the search was being called off.
Also, I agree that it was in poor taste to continually mention the cost of the search. I know that I personally have donated 4 times in the last month.
I read that over 70K was donated for Caylee's search and I think that is probably a pretty accurate number.

I don't understand the sudden pull out, same as it happened the first time. It was said they were going to search up to a week, or until they found her. "And this search is going to go on until we find Caylee." TM on NG :(
Maybe he didn't mean it literally... I suppose my expectations are/were too high.

Between that and the jabs at Leonard, I feel kind of ... disillusioned.
I know TM knows a lot more than we do, and probably had his reasons for
saying Leonard was in it for the money/fame whatever ... but I feel like
that should have been between them also. At least Leonard is trying!

Again... Thank you Thank you Thank you to ALL who were involved. I saw ALOT of people come together as a community.. not just Florida, but all over the US and beyond, I'm sure- those who studied ping maps, searchers, people who updated here on WS and other sites, news & media, people who donated money, food & water and all who PRAYED for the search & volunteers.

There was WAY more to it than just TES/ Volunteers. We ALL contributed..
in our own way, I think. That made me feel good this weekend, even if we didn't get the ultimate prize, Caylee.

TES does still have a team in Orlando. I don't think Tim will ever give up hope of finding Caylee. I don't think he gives up hope of finding them all.

I agree with Tim when he said, try being him & telling a mom on the other end of the phone you can't come search for her child until Caylee is found.
We all have fallen in love with Caylee, it's a tragic, tragic story. However, Caylee is not the only missing person out there.

Everyone knows the strict rules regarding media or personal camera's at a search. He doesn't allow it because it takes away focus, can make a mockery of searching for someone's loved one. I certainly would not like it if something of my missing loved one or a picture of their remains showed up on the internet. We respect the dead as we do the living. If Tim disagreed with Murt being there, that really is Tim's call. The focus should be on the search & only the search.

I am so grateful to every single person who was involved in the search, be it boots on the ground, donations or words of support & prayers. I wish I could have been there. There are other seaches this weekend & those missing people are important. I can be at this search & will give it my all. I will walk away knowing I did all I could, with the best team in the world leading the way.

Bolding mine. I believe Tim tarnished his own name by not keeping his word. Hightailing it out of Dodge wasn't a class act, in my opinion. I don't believe LP can be blamed because Tim decided to "cut his loses".

I'm just disgusted and sad this all went down the way it did.

I feel it got off to a bad start with the nightclub of Nejames being used. I personally had no problem with it, but I do know some did because they felt it was a ploy to get Tim to align with the Anthonys. Many from the local area evidently did not care for that either. Some said he gave Tim $12,500 in a big presentation. I was not there, so I can not say for sure.

I am not one to care one way or the other because I had the opportunity to work with 3 of the best dog handlers in the SE, but many felt as team leaders they did not get the instructions they needed to be as effective as they could have been. I was not impressed with the Anthony "love fest" put on by Tim and their attorney. We left when that started. As everyone knows I have no empathy for the Anthonys. I was told he later said anyone bad mouthing them would be told to leave. (so we would not have made it long with them anyway) LOL

We never planned to search with TES because we search together frequently and prefer to do our own maps (which we had already prepared) and have methods which do not work well for large groups.

A man who was searching Saturday with TES asked us Sunday morning at breakfast to search with us because he said they had no maps, no grids, etc. and he felt they were just spinning their wheels. We told him to ask again and continue to ask until he found someone who would provide them. We had to refuse their offer, because working with dogs can become difficult in rough terrain with strangers to the dogs, not to mention we take few breaks and most people would really not like to work with us. LOL

What I am trying to say here, is TES said all the areas were searched right after noon Sunday (36 hours into the search) , TES was leaving and Caylee would never be found and the news stations all broadcast it. People from the local area did not take that well. That was evidenced in the few which showed up Monday. Many felt betrayed who had traveled long distances to be there to search. We didn't care ourselves, but we did talk to a number of people who were shocked and dismayed with that revelation of Tim's.

I don't know what happened, but I don't feel calling off the TES search 36 hours into a nationwide publicized event was professional.

I am a bit disturbed with some things I have read this evening about Tim criticizing LP. I also find that unprofessional. LP is doing what he came thousands of miles to do and that is to search for Caylee - I don't see what difference it would make to Tim one way or the other since he said TES was leaving unless there was a deal to call off all searches with someone as many tend to believe. I fully support LP and if he is still searching next week we are going to try to get back and bring some divers with us.

Just my two cents.

Cindy quoted almost verbatum at Blanchard park and after what Tim said to David Lohr.

Tim got Cindy all riled up that day. It would be easy to press her buttons to have her go off. Namely Leonard.

I noticed that too.

OP thanks for posting this and to all of the other posters thanks for sharing your input as well. I understand the emotions here, but I don't understand all of the defensiveness. I didn't take anyone's post as bashing TM or TES; they were just sharing their opinions.

I think we all put too much trust in TES, maybe that's where we went wrong, who knows? I do think TM's comments about NG and LP were in extremely poor taste and out of character for him. Especially considering the multiple pleas from NG and LP for donations to TES. I don't think that could ever be explained well enough for me to understand. Leaves me with a really bad taste in my mouth.

Lastly, I certainly hope there is a reason that TM recanted on his word to search at least until Tuesday; as I'm sure many people were affected by this decision. Those who traveled great distances to learn the search was ending; those who were preparing to travel, bought tickets, took off from work, etc. I keep telling myself there has to be a reason, and I hope I'm right...if not, it will truly change my feelings about TES, for whatever that's worth.

I apologize for the length of this post, I didn't intend on saying all of this, it just kept going and going and going...like the energizer bunny. LOL

snipped a little......

From what I saw (which was not a lot there) the pre-planning was not arranged well. If they were expecting 8000 as said on TV, they should have planned for at least half that number, which would have meant providing:

Training
Leaders (if they brought 100 persons as said many could have been leaders)
Maps (Ready to hand out at 0600 Saturday morning)
Evidence markers (tape)
List of phone numbers - with a phone bank which worked
Bus/Van transportation (what they had was said to have been donated)
Water
Potty

Nice to have arraigned:
Discount rates at local hotels for those from out of town
Transportation from hotels to command post and back
Discounts at restaurants for searchers
(all of these could have been arranged by phone prior to arrival)

It was my understanding they came to Orlando the first of the week, so by Saturday that could have all been set up.

My daughter's wedding had almost as many attending as this search entailed if they really only had 1000 searchers Saturday. We provided all transportation, discount hotels, discount food, and all the other things the guests needed like rehearsal dinner transportation through the hotels for those who flew in, and then the wedding.

It is not that hard to set up those things and I honestly believe Tim needs an advance team. I am going to write him and offer to help him with that.

I am guessing you got home safe and sound..or at least safe. God bless you and yours for everything!

I do this sort of work myself and an advance team is a must. You can not prepare adequately for a 2000-5000 crowd on a Saturday and start setting it up on Friday, just isn't going to happen. Expect the best but plan for the very worst. My son hates that in me but so far it has been very successful. What we do is for profit and businesses are more than willing to cooperate/participate, so I can imagine what they would do for a non-profit and especially a misssing child situation. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you. I wasn't ever sound........LOL, but I did get home, and everyone was glad to see us. The other dogs were very happy to see Casper and he is laying under the desk, as I believe he is as tired as I am. LOL

I just had to come on here though and find out if anyone was going to go to that church CocoaMom located with the pings. I really believe that is a good choice since women tend to feel safer somewhere like that.

Something which preyed on my mind on the plane was if anyone had those pictures KC deleted. I am now wondering if there were some with pictures of that place.

There has been discussion of those pics that were deleted. I don't know that anyone has any of them. It sure would be great if they did. I would love to see them right about now. None of the other places, cell pings and I have gone over this stuff and over but for some reason this place just clicked for me. I guess because everything fits. I'm not psychic and I don't really have intuitions like some have but this just feels right. I hope someone checks thiss out tomorrow. Seein' how others read here there might not be anything found by tomorrow.

If they celebrated Easter, is this the church they did it in? They would have pictures of that-of Caylee in her Easter dress and likely on the egg hunt, as many churches organize that for their member's children. If this has been their church for many years then I think it is a distinct possibility. For instance, "Why are you sitting on this church parking lot Casey?" Reply: "I needed a place to think and this is my church." She would feel "safer" there and that certainly is a "neutral place" if I have ever seen one. Were there plans to put Caylee in the school at this church? Had Casey attended this church as a teen or younger? If so, then she would have every right to BE there so would not be "suspicious" and also may have spent some length of time exploring there over the years.

I honestly don't know if it's okay to post this here and I apologize in advance if it needs to be taken down asap. But here's just a bit of a comment from D. Lohr's site in response to his newest post, entitled "The Stories Behind the Caylee Anthony Search Effort", from a couple who drove over 800 miles to join in the search this weekend. I found it most informative:

..."The trip down went smoothly, we cut it up into a two days. We were at the "Tabu Nightclub" on friday for the "team leader meeting". We were both pretty excited about being there and showed up a little early. It was shocking that they were holding this meeting at a nightclub and especially a nightclub that NeJame's owns, I found this very disturbing. We thought the meeting would include a lot of information on the search and protocol related to TES's procedure, we were shocked. There was maybe 10 minutes of search related information, that's about it. The rest of the time was devoted to Nejame and Tim Miller telling us that we should not hate or judge the Anthony's, and if any searchers were heard talking about George or Cindy they would immediately be told to go home, no if's, and's or but's. This discussion about the Anthony's went on for probably an hour. NeJame had a man from the Never Loose Hope foundation come up on stage, after he explained that the man and his organization had taken unfair heat from the internet community. Then the representative from never loose hope handed Tim a check for $12,000."

This must be the second check because I distinctly remember Tim praising NeJame back in September. TM had mentioned that NeJame had given him a large donation. I was surprised that Nejame did and more surprised Tm mentioned it and was eager to praise him.

I have been told how wonderful TM is a human being and how he is a hero. I have been told this for 3 years. So this time I decided to donate to him. I donated money x2 and was disappointed x2. I do not know whether I am being petty on this, but after reading his quotes and the display with Nejame and the remarks about Padillo, I don't think I am.

I just realized I am posting on unorganize search thread. Well, maybe this behavior is why it was not prepared....some people are not good at that kind of thing BUT with large donations, one should hire well-qualified people to arrange in advance.

:waitasec:

You are asked do you have any health issues and explain if so and many did stay behind and answered the phones, sign up sheet and other misc. activities. Thank you for the water that was donated and the Popeye's ( I really enjoyed got it while it was hot, Quiznos, etc. There was plenty of water to go around and I might add quite a few cases left over which I am sure they transported to NC.

JMO and I probably should keep it to myself, but this ticks me off!! Every time I was on this weekend, and the cry went out for more food/water donations, I think the majority at Murt's followers donated immediately. I donated to the volunteers! With Caylee not being found yet, and TES knowing that LP was having diver's coming in, I don't feel TES had the right to take any leftover water. Already tonight Murt has mentioned that food/water is needed for the diver's tomorrow. Maybe I am being petty, but I donated to the volunteers for their use, and the cases of leftover water should have been left for them.

I am sure if MURT was at the COMMAND CENTER when they packed up and left they could have taken the water........... I was not there when the last person left............but I assumed they were not going to leave the water sitting on the grass. TES is bigger than CAYLEE...........

And the $12,500 donation was from Never Lose Hope Foundation. I had qualms about that organization, but after I checked it out for myself, I felt if Gloria Allread was involved with this organization it must be legit.

I wish I could have met all of you who were there this weekend. I did get an opportunity to chat with some WS'ers but not all. I think this is my biggest disappointment! I tried to eavesdrop a wee bit as I was sent from place to place to see if anyone mentioned WS (I am normally not an eavesdropper :) ) Perhaps we can, in the not too distant future, decide to meet somewhere and have a great discussion, debate, on our experiences. There are so many great minds here, I would love to sit down with all of you and talk about what could be done, if there is a next time, to make things better. I know some of us joined TES, but I don't know if they have regional meetings, etc.

Just sorry I could not have met all of you - what a fantastic bunch of people you all are - whether or not we agree on anything!

1. Leonard has done nothing but support Tim on Nancy. Pushing for donations etc.
2. He has kept this whole thing interesting both on Nancy and elsewhere. Helped keep it in the media.
3. I believe his heart is in the right place. No doubt in my mind.
4. Tim knew Cindy is easy to manipulate. Pushed her buttons to get an effect. He succeeded. She met with him before going to Blanchard.

I could go on and on about how I feel about Tim right now given what I know.

I am sorry I donated to TES. I cry "foul". BIG time.

This might clear up a little bit for you:

And BTW, as far as I know, Cindy stopped by to see Tim after she left Blanchard Park.

Baznme - I have everything QUITE clear thank you.

Right now I'd like a refund of my TES donation.

Turbo... I've enjoyed reading your interesting (and at times very funny) comments
about the search for Caylee, your travels, your thoughts on the case.... and about your dogs!
I'm sorry it didn't work out that you could stay in Orlando a little longer & help with "Cocoa's Theory" search,
but I was glad to see you made it home safe and "not sound". LOL

It's interesting that while you were on the plane, you were thinking about the deleted photos.
Last night, after I got into bed and was just about asleep, the same thoughts entered my mind, also.
After thinking a lot more about it, I finally got up and came to WS
to post it on another thread... 2 of them in fact!

Here is what I wrote at 2:09 am:
(And have remained awake, reading here, ever since.)

It would be so awesome if:

Jesse G (or someone else who saw Casey's deleted photos)
read this thread, with Cocoa's theory and ping info....

and saw the photos that Cocoa took yesterday......

and then remembered seeing something that looked the same
or similar from the 300 photos that Casey deleted.....

and then notified LE !!!!!!!
(Or Cocoa or LP or Murt or TM)

FWIW ~ I had just gone to bed and was about to fall asleep,
when this thought woke me right back up and wouldn't let me fall asleep.

So here I am again, right back at WS, wide awake, reading posts!!!

Thank you again, Turbo, to you, your partners, and your dogs.....
and to everyone else who went to Orlando and helped search for Caylee.
You all are so fantastic!! :blowkiss:
