Unwanted Birth Control Advice Leads To 76 yr Old Woman Being Banned From Bus

I totally understand this! I was a single mother who worked full time AND went to a university full time with 2 toddlers (Dead dog tired all the time) After I got a job, I was amazed seeing women who had MORE than me who did NOTHING to make a life for themself or their children. My route paid off in the end though. :woohoo: I can see giving a helping hand, nothing wrong with that. Once that mother is a working taxpayer, she's putting back what she was given. But there are those that expect the public to provide the money to care for their kids until they are 18 while they sit on their *ss. AND they keep having baby after baby :furious: ..no excuse. Some women find themselves in poverty with children by no fault of thier own...I applaud those that have the fortitude to take every advantage available to make her own way to provide for herself and her children. I know firsthand...it d*amn sure ain't easy.

No, it sure isn't.

Yes, it is just you.

You are making assumptions that because this woman is older she is behaving "crotchedy."

I have a much more positive view of older people.

You are also making assumptions that this woman should be viewed in the positive.
I am making assumptions based on what I read. Based on what I read, I have come to the conclusion that she is a racist, rude and yes--crotchedy. (Oh my!)

Glad to hear that you have such a positive view of older people. I tend to not have such a "positive view" of people that are rude and that I believe hold racist views that they project onto others--regardless of how old they are. Being grey and having wrinkles doesn't give anyone free passes on being a total arse to others.:D

Oh, please.

You must lead some type of sheltered life. I'm sure women all over the country choose to take 6 young children on the public bus rather than ride in the comfort of their own car.

I choose to use the good brain I was given.

Please read.

I also stated that people should be able to ride the bus without having their immigration or parental status questioned.

I guess you just jumped to conclusions and are afflicted with the foot in mouth disease.

What conclusions did I jump to? All I said was that this woman was assuming that the people on the bus were illegals and didn't know about birth control. That her assumption was unfair and was what got her into trouble. I certainly wasn't accusing you of jumping to conclusions.

I don't happen to take the bus because, as anyone familiar with Atlanta can tell you, we can't quite master public transportation. But when I lived in London I used it exclusively. Everyone did. My brother has lived in both New York and California and uses it all the time. He lives near Los Angeles now, and when taking his daughter to school he allows her to choose between the bike, the bus, or their hybrid vehicle. Very green. And trust me, they aren't on welfare.

In our community there also happen to be several large families. All of the children were wanted, and no one has them because of lack of birth control information. My family is only about average with three children. So I know that not everyone with six kids is an ignorant illegal with nothing better to do at night than have unprotected sex.

I wouldn't say I live a sheltered life at all.

HA HA!! You GO Grandma. SOMEONE'S got to say it!!!! And she's right, maybe they DON'T know. I'm sure it would be quite shocking to know of the ignorance that exists in immigrant communities, about birth control matters. There's probably a lot of misinformation about how babies are made and so on. we have to remember much of Mexico is like a third world country. (in fact, much of america is too). Up until recently, especially in rural communities, many women in the U.S. didn't even understand how they got pregnant or how to prevent it. So, they just kept on poppin' em out. And now, the same goes for these women... they often don't understand they have a choice, and it's ingrained in their culture too. If they are going to be contributing citizens to our society (not that being an actual 'citizen' is a priority for most of them).. then they need to stop being such a drain on society,, get educated, go to planned parenthood, be responsible!!!! Having 2 or even 3 kids, OK.. but having 4, 5, 6, etc.. when you are living in poverty or borderline poverty is just irresponsible, to do to yourself, your spouse, your kids, and society. Hey honey, you're not in some backwoods Mexican village anymore. You want to live in America?? Then try to better yourself... if you leave third-world Mexico, then leave it- don't being it HERE.

And remember,, this lady came from an age of enlightenment when women were first being educated in these matters,... they demanded and finally got the right to VOTE... they were going out and making a name for themselves, getting a higher education in larger numbers, getting better jobs... childbirth became much safer and was no longer always a matter of life & death. She got to come of age in the Golden Age of America. And now she's seeing it all go down the drain, as we have been going backwards ever since, back into the dark ages...
