What! Me too! Which branch?
I have ann honest questionn about gun conntro. If (god forbid) guns are banned in USA (hypothetical) how will that work? We rely on the honor system tthat everyone who has a gun just turns them in? I will never get rid of my gun as long as criminals have them. and there is no way, IMO, to assure anyonne they don't have them. MOO
I don't know that we would ever ban them completely, nor that we really should. However, we can start with harsher penalties when guns are used while committing crimes, and definitely require some sort of punishment if your gun is used in a crime (say it was stolen or you sold it, and it's used for murder, you're held financially responsible. hit people in their pockets and they respond). I don't have all the answers, but I do know the system as we have it now isn't working. JMO
Simple solution, quit demonizing guns and promote self protection.
My daughter was in the girl scouts, she doesn't know the first thing about Samoa's.
Guns are not the main problem, but easy access to guns when the general population hasn't the first clue how to properly handle one is.

And start with ending easy access to children and toddlers. Thread after thread about kids finding guns and killing each other. Completely 100% preventable.
I take it you mean parents that left the gun out for kid to take. If parents and children were take proper gun safety and an introduction to the weapons classes this problem would be solved.
Right. Except they don't, and toddlers end up shooting people - 13 toddlers have killed themselves, 18 have injured themselves, 10 have injured other people, and 2 have killed other people in 2015. It's ridiculous. No excuse.
BBM: How is a three-year-old supposed to learn proper gun safety?
That is back on the parents not knowing proper gun safety rules.

We could adopt the "gun" laws Canada has and be strip searched like Jessie Sansone in Waterloo when his daughter drew a picture of a gun on a piece of paper in class.
Gun fatalities per 100,000 per year:
Canada - 2.2
United States - 10.64
Which goes back to exactly what Tawny said, and which, IMO, is why a little gun control combined with a little training could only be a good thing. Others disagree, and doing things their way is how we get to toddlers killing themselves, and 27 people shot and killed on Christmas Day.
