NATO is debating a new missions: Arctic Sentry, which could be launched within weeks. It would address all United States security concerns because NATO's 32 countries, including the united states, would protect the region. The United States plan is for one country to protect the region.

The United States cannot argue that security provided by one country is better than security provided by 32 countries. If the US refuses to cooperate with 31 other countries, and chooses aggression and military force, then the United States government has to admit to everyone that they will wage war to steal land. I hope that is enough to wake up the United States government!

They can't. NATO is anchored by us and would lose all power if they booted us. This whole situation is insane. There has been no real talk of Greenland as a potential security threat until now. Everyone knows this is really about natural resources.
The president campaigned in part on a promise not to engage in wars. Yet many or most of those who supported him are fine with his threats to take Greenland by force. This is a terrifying and dangerous situation.

NATO consists of 32 members, modern, well developed countries of Europe and Northern America. The US are but one of them. Right now the US, IMO spiralling right into totalitarian dictature and economical insanity, is not an anchor. It's, IMO, the balast that drags NATO down and disables it's functioning. Russia is a danger to multiple NATO members, yet NATO can't do much, being blocked in it's initiatives by the US. That is not being anchor, that's putting stick into wheel. IMO, of course.

Trump has explained that he needs Greenland to help defend the western hemisphere, which is under US control according to the "Donroe Doctrine". Using his logic then, doesn't Russia have claim to the part of Alaska that is in the eastern hemisphere?

As soon as Mark Carney was elected Prime Minister of Canada, he initiated global alliances. One of the first was to pivot away from reliance on US for military. Until then, 75 cents of every Canadian dollar for defence was given to the US.

In December 2025, the deal was signed to procure defence supplies from EU countries, and to collaborate with the EU for defence spending, training and security. The US will no longer receive the bulk of Canadian defence spending.

Although not linked, Canada is also looking at procuring submarines and fighter jets from countries other than the US. As soon as the US waged war against Canada, it was clear that the relationship between the US and Canada is permanently broken. Canada is rapidly aligning with the global community, including EU, Australia and Asia. The US is unreliable and cannot be trusted.
