Just a few thoughts:

- The attorney seems to be gearing up to Alex being misunderstood, not diagnosed etc but he was in counselling/had a parole officer. Seems to me that he had some help and he didn’t want it.

-I read in the charge documents that Elizabeth went to bed with her sister. I hope she didn’t witness anything and isn’t haunted by memories of this.

- it says that jessica invited him around, I bet he put the guilt on her til she gave in and invited him around

- WRT the giving him of beer, that’s on the assumption that she knew he wasn’t meant to have any. My brother had a suspended sentence over 10 years ago and I couldn’t tell you the terms and I’m fairly close to him but it just wasn’t something we discussed in detail. (tho nothing like AW and thankfully he’s seen the error of his ways and straightened out)

- I don’t think he is a criminal mastermind judging from his record but I think he intentionally scattered all of the evidence. This was likely sexually motivated but also revenge. Someone said you have to really hate your family to do this to them. While I think AW only thinks about himself I also agree that he held some deep seated hatred for them.

-IMO he wasn’t expecting to have all those charges levelled against him and the reality made him speak up in the hopes of saving himself from further charges. His attorney saying he was hoping to make amends by disclosing where she is buried is b******t in my opinion and just his attorney laying the ground work for his defence.

2KUTV live (facebook feed) reporter is heard commenting she does not want to get the grandfather on camera.

There's no indication that the scene is family owned property.

It's possible that grandfather traveled to the scene where everybody else is gathered on the street.

I would guess this defense attorney requested to take the DP off the table if his client tells the location of poor little Lizzy. Makes me sick but my guess is he will not be eligible for the sentence he deserves

In this particular circumstance I kind of feel like birth control would've helped prevent this horror more than mental health assistance.

This guy was in treatment. He was forced by the terms of his probation to be in treatment. He had a probation officer assisting him. He chose to stop going.

I'm sensing a long familial history of addiction issues, abandonment, abuse, neglect, struggles with poverty, etc. You have kids born into this situation and things can go wrong. Usually not this bad but bad enough.

Treating a psychopath is hard. Probably close to impossible unless you catch it at a young age and have the rare luck to have a mental health professional that has a system of treatment that works.

But I've read that those with psychopathic tendencies, if raised with a lot of love and support and no abuse, can refrain from developing the dangerous characteristics to begin with.

Yeah we need good, accessible health care of all kinds, in this country, more support for at risk families, but I also think we need to advocate birth control and make it available and accessible.

Not everyone needs to have kids. And for every kid like Alex was who eventually becomes a violent psychopath (or murderous, malignant narcissist, or whatever), like this monster, there are hundreds of thousands more from likely similar family backgrounds who wreak havoc on the people around them by abusing or neglecting kids, committing domestic violence and various forms of sexual assault, going in out of jail, or prison, becoming serious addicts, etc.

I suspect more will come out about his life and the road to this atrocity.

Nope. The statistics say that there has never been a safer time to be a child in this country.

The internet, social media, cable news, and our own particular fascination with crime, just leads to the perception that things are getting worse.

This is 4 years old. I believe I just read last year, that certain crimes (sexual, etc) against children are on the rise. I will look for a link!

I actually don't think children are safer. The internet has made sure of that in many ways.

It seems after killing, disposing, & burying evidence AW loitered around the area for hours, before marching on. Maybe he felt it too risky to walk in the dark, afraid LE might stop to see what he was up to. Especially since he was intoxicated.
Maybe he smoked some pot or had another beer.
It’d be interesting to know if the homeowner where LWas recovered was away for the weekend.
The water on his pants must be from weeds or he walked thru a puddle or took his pants down to use the bathroom (yuk) cuz he sure didn’t wash his hands. Guess he forgot he could have used the restroom at the gas station.

I am beside myself. This has been a long and terrible day. I’m so so sad for that family, their lives were ruined in less than a week, if I feel the way I do now (as many of you do) I cannot imagine at all what that mommas going through, as well as her other relatives and the whole community... and those officers.. and dispatch. I love websleuths but this one has been the most profound and emotionally exhausting case I’ve ever followed. Thanks for being here, hugs to all and sending love and comfort to the family for whatever it’s worth

Violence, pain, and death are one of the few constants in human history. What goes on today is not new or worse than what has come before. In fact, in many ways, despite having more advanced and efficient means of killing than ever before, the world is less violent now than perhaps ever before.

Just read The Diary of Martha Ballard (colonial era midwife's "almanac") or Wisconsin Death Trip (a cozy little coffee table book with news entries, insane asylum entries, strange photos, poems, etc., chronicling the insanity of "settling" Wisconsin). They showcase a variety of horrors just like we see here.

Of course we have a much higher population now and the internet.
