Found Safe WI - SMF, 16, Beaver Dam, 2 Feb 2025 *3 mo's pregnant, believed to be with 40-year-old father of the baby*

Teens do what they do. I don't blame the parents here. But, at the same time, if they don't know what is going with their teen, how do they expect an internet company or cellphone company to do more than they are doing?!

I hope this family heals.
Because, people use their own experience as children and don't consider the danger newer technology brings because they aren't familiar with it.

"When law enforcement made contact with the defendant, he provided several fake names," a Nebraska prosecutor said in court Friday.

That false report is one of the misdemeanor charges he faces in Omaha. Investigators said a deputy at the truck stop used a portable fingerprint machine to determine Day's true identity.

"Sure enough, it popped up that it was him. So immediately, he has several warrants through several states, and they're all felony warrants," Sarpy County Sheriff Greg London said.

He pleaded not guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing a false name to law enforcement - both misdemeanors.

Day also faces charges in Vermont and Indiana for exploitation cases, which will be the subject of the afternoon appearance.

It’s this last statement about Vermont and Indiana charges that certainly make them sound like they are not related to SF’s case.

I'm curious about those charges and posted this about it this morning.
Not only because I reside in Vermont.

  • "He faces additional complaints in Vermont and Indiana."
I Haven't found anything else on that hearing said to be taking place later in the day.
He was to be charged with "exploitation".

Did victims/parents from Vermont and Indiana contact LE or was LE able to somehow retrieve messages from his cell phone w/o being in possession of it?
Maybe the information was found in the house where he lived with his mother?
IMO:

I've yet to see any coverage here in Vermont about Vermont charges. WCAX carried a Wisconsin affiliate's story the other day about finding her safe, but no media here has made a connection to Vermont, as far as I know. I admit I'm incredibly curious.

The man arrested in Sarpy County after allegedly kidnapping a teenager from Wisconsin will have extradition hearings Thursday.

Gary Day, 40, of Arkansas, pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanors in Sarpy County court last week: contributing to the delinquency of a minor and false reporting.

He is set to face more serious charges in Wisconsin -- including child enticement and abduction. Court records show he is fighting extradition, which will be reviewed Thursday.

Initial appearance in court

What we know:

Day, 40, is charged in Dodge County with two counts of abduction of a child and two counts of child enticement.

"Based on victim A’s statement to law enforcement the two of them made intentional acts to avoid law enforcement detection, avoid surveillance, sleeping on the side of road and trying to engage in conduct that avoided him returning to court," said Andrea Will, Dodge County District Attorney

"Based on the investigation does believe that there is additional victims and the feds will be investigation those additional victims, so he is a danger to the community," Will said.

The judge overseeing the case set Day's bond at $2 million. He also ordered that Day have no contact with minors.

SF said they went to Eau Claire before making their way to Minnesota. She said they traveled through Iowa, Missouri and Kansas City — where they slept in parking lots for two nights. They then made their way to the panhandle of Oklahoma, through Texas, New Mexico and ultimately the Phoenix area in Arizona, per the complaint.
