I don’t disagree with you. But I also see a difference in the resilience of these two women. Seems both grew up with some trauma, but just one of them had some protection against it. That’s not a defense of BB and the way she parented.
IMO we don’t know enough about their lives to say if one had more “protection” growing up. However, there might be some cultural differences, based on the communities they are from. Cache County, Utah seems like a pretty nurturing place.

As we were leaving the vigil for Lizzy Shelley in Logan last night, I noticed one of these stickers on the ground. Today, it lives on the water bottle I carry with me at work, reminding me to #LiveLikeLizzy.

Jessica is so young.
Considering Lizzy was age 5, both JW and bio dad WS were very young parents.

Also hope WS is receiving support for his loss. He'll never have the opportunity to regain a relationship with Lizzy.

Alex Whipple will be in court today for charges related to Lizzy's disappearance and murder.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The man accused of killing his 5-year-old niece will appear in court Monday.

Alexander Whipple, 21, has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of Elizabeth Shelley.

“We will seek the harshest penalty possible that’s available to us, which will now be life without the possibility of parole,” Cache County Attorney James Swink said.

According to criminal records beginning in 2016, Whipple has had a troubled past. Those records included assault, joyriding, possession of a controlled substance, and stealing a car and fleeing from police.

Whipple was sentenced in prison in 2018, but that prison sentence was suspended and he was ordered to spend 180 days in jail and five years of probation.

That is the very first time a sticker made me cry. I love the way they honored this child.

Anyone know when he’ll be in court today?

I just looked at the Logan City court docket, looks like a bail hearing and initial hearing at 1:30 today.

I'm assuming that there won't be any press present?

'It's not easy': Murder of Elizabeth Shelley an emotional case for Logan police

Police Chief Gary Jensen said an autopsy was still underway to gather more evidence as police worked to build a case against Shelley's accused killer, her uncle.

“The words come out of your mouth: 'aggravated murder,' and in that moment, you go, ‘This is real, this is real, this is a little girl's life,’” he said.

He said Wednesday, the emotions for his officers changed.

“There’s a point at which we find her, and it’s at that point you have to then come to grips with your own emotions, because now they are right before you," the chief said.

“We’ve had some gut-wrenching cases, but this is probably one of those that will remain with you as long as your career lasts," Jensen said. "It’s a tough one.”

“We will do things better next time if, heaven forbid, there ever is a next time," Jensen said. "I pray there’s not. We’ve learned some of the things we could’ve done better.”

I think that they did a pretty good job for a small town team, where the average call is for a loose dog, or shoplifting.

Anybody find a live feed for the hearing? Is it over already?

Jessica is posting on facebook again, this time people are being kind and supportive. She has a special resilience about her which I imagine Lizzy had too. I hope the Logan community continues to support this family. The hardest time comes later when the activity ceases and quiet sets in.
