Details of Disappearance

Brixey was last seen in Ogden, Utah on September 20, 2015. He and his father were working together at an abandoned building at 26th Street and Adams Avenue, preparing it for demolition. He planned to go back to the building after hours with a friend and look for metal and copper items to sell. His friend stated they did go to the building that night, but while they were searching for copper, Brixey walked out of the building alone and disappeared.

He has never been heard from again, he left all his belongings behind and since his disappearance there has been no activity on his Social Security number. The abandoned building has since been demolished and an apartment complex has been erected at the site.

At the time of Brixey's disappearance, he was using drugs and was living with his wife at a Motel 6 in Riverdale, Utah. She believes he is deceased and may have gotten stuck somewhere in the abandoned building. His case remains unsolved.

The Charley Project has since added the following detail:

"The friend and Brixey's wife searched the building for him together, and couldn't [find] him anywhere, though Brixey's wife did find her husband's hat, sunglasses and phone in an office on the first floor of the building."

I feel like this poses more questions than answers. For starters, how quickly did the friend start searching for Adam? I can't believe you go to an abandoned building with someone who disappears and you don't call for help right then and there.

Assuming the friend had a cellphone, did he try calling Adam to see where he was? Adam clearly had a phone since it was found later. But unless Adam silenced his phone, the friend would've heard it ring and been able to follow the sound, so it doesn't look like he called him.

Did the friend call the wife and that's why she came to search? Did they both then decide to call police? Knowing more of the timeline and actions of the people involved would help narrow down some theories.

And then there's the apparent contradiction that, according to the friend, Adam "walked out of the building alone" but the wife found some of his belongings inside the building. I can't make sense of that unless Adam, knowing he'd be in the building for a while, decided to set down some of his belongings. Taking off a hat and sunglasses, especially at night, makes sense—but his phone? What if someone else came into this abandoned building and stole it?

With the questionable story, and the detail that Adam was using drugs at the time of his disappearance, I get the feeling the two men went to the building for other reasons and maybe that's where trouble started.

I don't know if I believe he "may have gotten stuck somewhere in the abandoned building," as the wife suggests. I guess it's possible, I feel like he would've turned up when the building was demolished.
