I've been here donkeys and I can't work out how to comment on a post from the previous thread 😑

Anyways @BrianJohnson I'm replying to your comment replying to someone else regarding mental health/sociopathy and narcissism.

I fear that he's not proven to be mentally ill or proven to have ASPD or narcissistic disorder.

I fear that we have a senseless young man who has zero diagnosed issue, no true political/radicalised stance, who simply killed a man because he thought it would make him look cool to the internet and be fAmOuS.

That is to me way more terrifying than say a psychopathic killer or a paranoid schizophrenic killer. It's terrifying because there's kids like that everywhere. Young people who follow trends blindly online, think nothing of laughing at dying children on the news. Young people who want to be tiktok famous by any means, who aspire to be world known and are so desensitised to violence and death that they will go out and harm someone just to "troll"

It's terrifying but I fear that's what we have in this case and I dread to think of what's to come.

IMO
I think mine worked...

I went to reply to post and typed my reply then did Command + A (I'm on a Mac, so PC I think is Ctrl + A) to Select All the text, then Command (or Ctrl on PC) + C (to copy text) then moved to new thread and Command or Ctrl + V (to paste) and pasted original post and my comment.

Hope it works for you! :)

This is a very misleading article, IMO.
I do not think that it is misleading at all. The suspect drove approximiately 3.5 hours to target and assassinate a public figure. The public figure was known for his political and religious beliefs, and the FBI stated that the suspect does not like Kirk's viewpoints. It doesn't take a rocket science to connect the dots.

To be safe:

Because we have a new thread, I can’t respond to the post about the adolescent brain not maturing until age 25. To that poster, thank you for the information, and I am aware of that. However, I don’t care. Long before age 25, a person knows right from wrong and that there are consequences to their behavior.

(Just want to add that not bringing the post over, I have no doubt, is reflective of me not knowing how to do it, and not something being wrong with the WS site. )

The fact that we've reached a point in time where a freaking OwO meme ends up engraved on the casing of a bullet used to murder somebody is breaking my brain a little bit ngl. Like, it reads like some kid's terrible 2010s WattPad fiction, and yet it's the actual news
True. I feel many of these young men are lost, immature, aimless and think it's all a movie or video game. JMO MOO

One thing about this case that has amazed me since last night. The jump from the side of the building. The building was said to be 15’ tall where he jumped. Given average height around 6’ that’s about a 9’ drop with no injuries. I know he landed in the grass, but carrying a backpack and a rifle, it’s amazing he didn’t do so much as twist an ankle.

I think the realisation the planning his must have done, studied the buildings to know where to go etc.

It’s actually half well planned and half idiotic, the discord messages, the identifiable clothing.

The gay insult stood out to me. It's something an 11 year old boy would say to insult another.

We have this picture from outside Tyler Robinson's family home in Washington County, Utah and here is his Dodge Charger that he drove to allegedly kill Charlie Kirk still parked outside.

Odd that police haven't confiscated the vehicle to search for evidence - I suppose that even though the time stamp on the phone message is just 10 minutes ago, that doesn't mean the original photo was taken by the X media personality at that time (or even taken by him at all).

To be safe:
I respectfully disagree that the motive is clearly or overtly political, although he may have targeted a popular figure for notoriety.

ETA: Reagan was shot because John Hinckley wanted to date Jodie Foster. Just because a political figure is assassinated (or an assassination is attempted) does not mean it is for an inherently political reason. Another example is Trumps would-be assassin, who did not seem to have a political ideology, and who searched for multiple political figures from both parties in the months before the shooting.

And the engravings, discussed in thread 1, seem to reference video games and memes.

Agree.

Just a personal impression of his booking photo...a defiant smirk. I'll leave it at that.

Glad they caught him.

I am not convinced it is the vehicle, the vehicle was described as grey, that to me looks near on black, could well be the car of another family member

Agree.

I was married at 21 and a mother at 24. I look back now and know I was young, but murdering someone was not on my list of things to do because my prefrontal cortex had not yet fully matured.

I don't feel elated like I thought I would when they made an arrest.

This is bittersweet. There is a huge problem here when these (mostly) young, lost, zoned out online addicted men keep doing these crimes. It'll keep happening if something doesn't change. Another topic, but wish this would stop.

I feel for the killer's parents and family. I feel for the Kirk family as well of course. Sad all the way around :(

It's just tragic. There's no positive to any of this.

The motive may be a mix of things, and it may also be incoherent, but there's clearly a political element to it. Shortly before the shooting he'd complained about Kirk being hateful, and he engraved antifacist messaging on the shell casings.

In previous generations 25 year olds were considered fully functioning members of the population. I think we are infantising young people today.

Right?

Brains not maturing until 25 services the purpose of many things but shooting people, not so much

This is similar to generational trauma imo - yeah that is in your DNA and is part of who you are but not a reason you get to assault or kill people.

We can’t allow excuses in place of responsibility when it comes to life.

This is where he might have found the song.

Another was engraved with the words of prominent Italian anti-fascist song 'Bella Ciao', which is dedicated to the Italian resistance who fought against Nazism.

The song has also seen a recent uptake in interest after being heavily featured in the Netflix series 'Money Heist'.

I hate to say this and hope not sounding nasty or distasteful here, but I wonder if the killer was harbouring or dealing some conflicts about his own sexuality in some form.

Was he pro or against gay? The gay insult sounds like he's making fun of it but I think in his mind he thought he was insulting Charlie Kirk with it? Very confusing, I think a very confused young man. JMO MOO

Right? I genuinely haven't heard anyone use "gay" as an insult since about 2009

Looks like John Boy Walton, to me.

JMOO, obvs.
