As the FBI releases images of a "person of interest" in the killing of Charlie Kirk, let's bring you some of the details authorities shared in an news conference earlier today.

Officials said they were “confident in our abilities" to track the shooter and they had "good video footage" of the suspect.

As well as locating a high-powered rifle, officials said they had also found a "footwear impression, a palm print and forearm imprints" which are being analysed. They also said they had tracked the shooter's movements directly before and after the shooting.

Earlier, investigators said they were "working through some technologies and some ways to identify this individual" and, if they are unsuccessful, they will then share images publicly with the media to help identify them.

The officials said they had already visited the neighbourhoods where the shooter is believed to have fled through, contacting witnesses and people with doorbell cameras.

That clip from the video footage is grainy, but someone must have a good idea about who that is.
Maybe if they showed the video with him moving up the stairs it could help jog someone's memory ?
Sometimes people walk on a level surface or up/down stairs with a certain gait.

I agree that a video clip would be helpful. For instance, it appears to me that the person does not move fluidly, but instead has a spastic quality to his movement. But I cannot tell if that is simply because his fists are gripped closed and elbows are pulled in and that could be because he is trying to avoid touching anything and leaving a print.

I don't think so as per the latest update (12 mins ago):

As you may remember, officials had postponed a news conference this afternoon, citing “rapid developments” in the case. Though it’s not clear what those developments are, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) did just release an update saying there is still no suspect in custody.

“Law Enforcement Personnel continue the search for any and all potential suspects related to this incident. Multiple leads are currently being investigated,” the update said.

While a manhunt is still ongoing to find the killer of Charlie Kirk, investigators have shared some details about the suspect.

In a news conference earlier today, officials said the suspect "appears to be of college age" who arrived on campus at 11:52 local time yesterday.

After the shooting, he is believed to have jumped off the roof of a building on campus, fleeing "into a neighbourhood," officials said.

Video footage taken from inside a building behind the gazebo that Kirk was in appears to show someone running across the roof of the Losee Center building, right after the shooting.

I agree that a video clip would be helpful. For instance, it appears to me that the person does not move fluidly, but instead has a spastic quality to his movement. But I cannot tell if that is simply because his fists are gripped closed and elbows are pulled in and that could be because he is trying to avoid touching anything and leaving a print.

But remember, he would have needed great finesse in the actual shooting, so spastic movement otherwise is not likely.

I agree with you;
LE has obscured an area on the rightside of POI's face (maybe a piercing?), and areas on each of his hands (maybe tattoos, a specific watch or apparel item?)

You are very observant. I didn't see those spots until there was an enlarged pic on my screen.

Let's not leap to conspiracy theories. Hanlon's Razor applies. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." It could also be that a warrant hasn't been publicly issued so as to prevent alerting the suspect that LEO are incoming.

Honestly he just looked wasted to me. It's very possible he had no clue what had happened.

This. The people in the middle of the crowd didn't see the zoomed-in gruesome moment of impact that we all saw. People heard a gunshot and then chaos ensued. After Trump was shot, spectators began standing back up and cheering "USA!" as secret service took him away. It looks like this guy was (foolishly) trying to start a similar moment.

If he isn't identified and caught in the next 12 hours, I sure hope LE releases a moving image of his "walk". That should go an even longer way to helping someone recognizing him.

Furthermore: What is going on with his mouth? An overbite ? I'll let others describe what they see..........

He looks in his 30s to me. And maybe of Hispanic ethnicity. It could also be Native American or Middle Eastern. There’s something about his features, particularly his nose, that makes him appear not entirely White/Caucasian. MOO JMO

Hard to tell by the photos but my initial impression was that he was older than college age. Not old but older than 25 Thoughts?

My first reaction is that he's older than traditional college age, too.

Law enforcement arrests person unrelated to Kirk shooting at crime scene​

The Utah Department of Public Safety says the man ignored crime scene tape, entered the secured area and began taking photos of the scene and officers. He fled when agents ordered him to stop and attempted to identify him but other officers apprehended him.

He’s been booked into the county jail for felony obstruction and trespassing.
