That was probably the biggest disaster of a cross-examination I've ever see. Nester came at her with all these gotcha moments she thought, but every time it backfired ("In all the pages you looked through, did KR ever say anything about wanting to kill her husband?" "Well there is this one email." LOL!).

It was especially beautiful because she and the other two are probably the most obnoxious set of attorneys I've ever seen as well. I'm not automatically anti-defense attorney, but these guys really make you want to see them lose.

Maybe they're bitter that their client is such an obviously guilty person. I'm sure they each all know she's guilty, they've seen all the evidence. Maybe it's subconscious self-sabotage.

You are reading my mind. Also, starting doing research to see if she ever applied for PPP. moo

Yep, Karrington mentioned today that she got one.

Interesting that Kouri Richins first started her real estate house flipping business in April 2019.

Less than 20 months later. it had debt of $1.5M but she is only able to make $3000 to $12000 monthly payments by early 2021.

That is averaging less than 0.5% of the amount owed each month.

It looks to this outside observer that she was bad at flipping very early on.

Housing prices were still increasing at the time 5% in 2019, 6% in 2020 and 13% in 2021... so she SHOULD have been able to make money flipping them. It looks to me that she was making poor choices for what to flip probably being so inexperienced she was getting the leftovers from the pros who were flipping houses. She probably thought she could get in on the action and make tons of money like they were.

I think way back in 2019 was when the problems first started.

She never abandoned ship and could have jsut gone back to selling houses for clients.

I wonder at what point she knew it was hopeless and she needed to find a source of instant money quickly...

She (allegedly) tried to poison him Feb 14, 2022 and 3 weeks later she (allegedly) succeeded.

Watching The Lawyer You Know’s recap about yesterday.

Discussing KR’s insane finances, he said that having a tremendous amount of debt is pretty common for anyone in real estate or a similar business when they start out until they’re able to hit it big.

Thinking about why in the world ER would be going along with all this, that makes sense to me. I’m sure he had many business relationships with people in real estate, construction, etc. maybe they told him all this was normal without realizing the extent JMO

Juggling accounts. Getting more lines of credit. Exhausting all of them. So she "borrowed" from ER's reserves, just had to kill him to do it. It's clear where her priorities were.

Clear and cold.

Wait a minute, so the witness said that the mansion went into foreclosure and was bought AS IS for 3.4 million when all was said and done. Kouri bought it for 2.9 million. So it made a profit in the sale. She said it was in the foreclosure track before Kouri was arrested and went into foreclosure 4 days after her arrest. So if Kouri hadn’t been arrested would she have made almost half a mil? Any real estate pros in here that can explain this?

Edited to add - Nvm I see it was cleared up on redirect. I was catching up watching and typing. But I’m surprised the mansion sold for more than she bought it given all the issues it had!

But didn't Eric say No to the big mansion purchase at the end?

Was that when she went ahead and bought it anyway not knowing that that would ultimately be why she would "need" to kill Eric for his money??? Or was the purchase AFTER she (allegedly) killed him?

Obviously, her financial crisis was reason-enough for her to be motivated to kill him.

Other than the texts, the drug purchase, the real estate business in financial trouble, what other evidence will be presented by prosecution in this case?

I just went back and reviewed the walk the dog letter to refresh my memory about how damning it is to her case. Here are some portions.

Skye [her previous attorney] is saying even if the gummies have fetanyl [sic] in them the prosecutor will say I tried to put the fetanyl [sic] in the gummies so Eric would have them. Stupid I know but that’s what she’s thinking. We will still test them though. However, she wants to link Eric getting drugs and pills from Mexico so we need some kind of connection. Her private investigator is doing some research on the ranch/cartel place Eric would stay at. Here is what I’m thinking but you have to talk to Ronney [KR’s brother]. He would probably have to testify to this, but it’s super short not a lot to it.

A year prior to Eric’s death, Ronney was over watching football one Sunday and Eric and Ronney were chatting about Eric’s Mexico trips. Eric told Ronney he gets pain pills and Fetanyl [sic] from Mexico from the workers at the ranch. Not to tell me because I would get mad because I always said he just gets high every night and won’t help take care of the kids (there are pictures in my phone of Eric passed out on the floor or in the chair. Ronney should have texts from Eric talking about getting high as well). Eric told Ronney he keeps them in an allergy pill bottle in his work truck so I wouldn’t find them. Ronney never told me about the conversation. Eric finally told me and asked if Carmen could get him some. Eric never wanted anyone to know he had an issue ecspecially [sic] get caught, he always wanted Kouri to go down for him.

She [KR] was pissed he would risk her going to jail for his drug use. He just would laugh about it. Eric couldn’t ruin his image that he had drug issues so he would do whatever he had to. Kouri has never done any type of pills, didn’t like them. Rarely would she consume THC only if Eric begged her because it was a special occasion. * Reword this however he needs to, to make the point. Just include it all * The connection has to be made with Mexico and drugs. Ronney will have the messages to prove Eric confided in him about getting high. It can be short and to the point but has to be done.

Upon information and belief LOL. They never found pain pills or Fetanyl [sic] in my house because he hid it in allergy bottle in work truck. And Cody emptied out work truck within a week. So they were never found.

When you talk to Ronney about this, meet up with him in person. I worry sometimes your house and phone are bugged.
Maybe drive down to SL and meet him after work without Bri. Skye has to make the connection between Eric and Mexico because that makes the most sense in her mind. If it’s Ronney’s information and belief about the conversation over football she can use that as a connection. Tell Ronney don’t over analyze it. It was a quick 2 min. conversation LOL. Tell him I need him to do this. Bring me home and then we will get those damn 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬!

Skye is having my girls do the first interview with Good Morning America. Please tell Chelsea to bring up that he hasn’t been to church in the 13 years she has known him. And Eric would brag to her about how much he drank and did pills in high school. Tell Kelsey to say “Eric always wanted Kouri to go down for him.” For example he would put drugs in her suitcase when we would travel together so if anyone got caught it was Kouri. He would put it in her bag right before they left the house so Kouri didn’t know. Then when we would land wherever, Eric would take them out of her bag and Kouri would be pissed and they would argue about it. Tell Kelsey to say how Eric didn’t care and would just laugh about it and say, “Well I can’t get in trouble.” Have Selma talk about Eric in Spain not being able to drink so he was looking for drugs the entire time. And explain the drink the waitress gave him. And how I called his doctor and went to the pharmacy immediately. Have Ali talk about how the sisters have always been jealous of me because anything they could do, Kouri could do better. Being a mom, college, stay at home wife until she built a million dollar company. A nice house, car, everything she had, they wanted. This comes down to jealousy, money, and Eric’s partying that they don’t want to acknowledge and sadly an accidental overdose.

How the hell KR plans to believably explain this as a fictional novel is beyond me.

I am hoping to hear from the boyfriend! That is a completely different motive but so compelling. She wanted out but she wanted AND needed the money. With the prenup, there was really only one way to get that...

I think we’re all going to be disappointed about this. It seems Josh Grossman is a transient who has been dodging LE and prosecutors for years, and they haven’t been able to locate him.

BUT we do have evidence of their lovey dovey text messages, daily phone calls, their meetup on Valentine’s Day, and the vacation reservation in the Caribbean planned for a month after Eric’s death.

Although Richins consulted a divorce lawyer in January 2022, she ultimately decided not to proceed.

That, however, wasn't enough to stop her from making plans to go on a luxury trip to the Secrets Resort on the Caribbean island of St. Martin with Grossmann which she had booked for April 20 – six weeks after her husband died.

In the end, the pair didn't go thanks to the fallout from Eric's death.

'If I was divorced right now and ask you to marry me tomorrow, you would?' Richins texted her lover in February 2022, just weeks before she allegedly poisoned her husband Eric.

She added: 'I just want to lay on the couch and cuddle you. Watch a murder documentary and snuggle!'

Two weeks later, she texted Grossmann: 'Life is going to be different I promise', adding: 'I hate your hard days. I wish I could be there to turn them around for you.

'Can I try Friday? Give me a few days? Hang in there until then please?'

yeah, I think that was her original thought after meeting with divorce attorney in January 2022 was maybe he could just die and then no divorce and I could collect life insurance. I think she was probably love bombing Josh during the weeks after the attorney meeting and Josh, not being the sharpest tool in the shed, wasn't picking up the clues she was tossing out about how life would be so much better if ER would just go away, disappear, no longer be a factor.

She got tired of waiting for Josh to act on her behalf and had to take matters into her own hands.

I had to miss the last little bit of Karrington's cross examination by defense, will prosecution be doing a redirect with her today? I honestly don't think there is much they need to cleanup, the witness was excellent and gave the defense nothing with which to work.

I never thought about her maybe getting her lover to kill her husband but that makes sense.

In the past, others have done it by making up stories of abuse and trying to illicit sympathy so that he wants to avenge and "fix this' abusing situation. However, I think Kouri would have had to have more evidence that she was physically abuse but making bruises on herself would have alerted Eric as to something going on.

The question I have is IF Kouri was not in so much debt, let's say under $1M, would she still have concocted a murder plan like this?
