I'm not convinced he actually has very much knowledge of technology. MOO.
They might have sat-tracked him from Hill. This was definitely possible when I was stationed at Hill and that was quite a few years back. The toys they have now are far superior to those older ones. OSI has many times over helped with local investigations so I would not be surprised if they got help from Hill as it would take ten minutes to look at the data and follow the vehicle.

This to me doesn't sound like AA fessed up as to where they could find ML's body. This sounds like they were able to figure it out themselves based on evidences that they have gathered. MOO
ITA - I think it comes from sound investigative work - forensics from phone, car and house. IMO

I'm wondering if some of the blood/ tissue that was found was actually located inside the home?
As well as some partial charred remains?

See, here we go again. I swear I saw something originally that indicated imo that tissue was found inside.

I think the best way to clear this up is quote the Chief directly from the last PC.

Did you catch what the chief said?

I hope parents can sit down with their children or loved ones so they can prevent crimes like this.....
Sorry to go back, but what was it the Chief said?

I have, unfortunately, been around a situation after someone passed and that smell is something you will never forget and something that is entirely unique. It is just something that people would immediately recognize and not in a good way. They spent all night digging into various areas and had the body bag tarps out. There were definitely two out on the initial dig but I am not sure if they brought anything out within them but they were indeed laid out which was on the live stream from the news that day. I am going to go back and look at that initial live stream from the night in question and will pull some stills out to show what I mean.
Yes, that's why most of us thought it was not possible that he could have burned the body. Someone would have been able to recognize the smell.

I wonder if he started to burn the body and then realized he was going to have to do it another way.

I thought LE was digging because intitially they thought he buried the rest of her remains in the yard. Imo

Looking at Logan Canyon on Google maps, it looks like there is a walking trail, but not tons of trees.
There is also Route 89 that runs along the canyon. Could have just dumped her any number of places. LE didn’t say where in the canyon they found her, could have even been near Bear Lake.

“The product of our investigation created a lead.”

"One Pingy- Dingy...
Two Pingy-Dingy...
Three Pingy-Dingy..."

I'll betcha' the IT genius took a phone with him up to Logan Canyon...and left it turned on, to boot.

Way to go, Slick.

Logan Canyon is pretty big and steep, but if they had an idea where to look, the search and rescue group could do it. I'm more amazed he'd travel there with a corpse, or pieces of one. It isn't a straight shot up a highway - and there's multiple ways to get there, so it depends which one he took. Any are risky, IMO. I'm in Salt Lake now, but I'm originally from Northern Utah, so I'm quite familiar with the Logan area. Pretty amazed he'd take such a risk.

Do you think there’s cell service there? If he didn’t lead them to the body, or if no one else did, I wonder if they could have tuned in closely to his location using cell locations. I don’t think they have mentioned if he had GPS on his car. If he did, and didn’t turn it off, he’s pretty ignorant. Ditto if he left his phone on.

Pure speculation, but if he was drugged up or in some other sort of altered mental state, he may not have been thinking clearly.

I agree. I’d guess that it had something to do with his phone. Maybe he turned his phone off when he got up there. Maybe he did a Google Maps search to check how long the drive would be. (I know he’d lived up there, but he might not have been driving back and forth regularly.)

They also can use air help to view the ground and see if anything has been disturbed, so with phone locations and eyes in the air maybe. Or cadavar dogs. This case is really bringing out all the angles.

I agree and I also will be shocked if he went as far as a committing a murder previous to this. He’s just way too stupid and sloppy. I think he has a crime list a mile long of other offenses but another murder doesn’t seem likely. MOO

MOO - it may have been mentioned but the “tissue” could have been on the murder weapon. Maybe he tried to burn it. It could have been a ligature of some kind or something made of wood he thought would burn. JMO

So, as I predicted, you guys very easily added a third possibility, option “c”, which was that he tried to burn her, that didn’t totally work so he dumped her at Logan Canyon.

So, bringing forward these 3 options and adding another:

A) There was initially an error with the DNA testing, and she was never burned in that fire, and rather dumped at Logan Canyon.

B) There was no error in the testing, her tissue was indeed in that fire, and another part(s) of her body was disposed of at Logan Canyon.

C) He first tried to burn her body, which was unsuccessful, so he then disposed of her at Logan Canyon.

D) Tissue was possibility on items he burned or tried to burn.

Anything else?

Yeah it is really wonderful to see so many people come together to try to help. Speaks volumes about our country and how quick we unite when these things happen. I have always loved that.

I do too. I feel they took the death penalty off the table for him to tell them where her body was
I do too and I wish it's not true, but what else could it be?
