I've taken some drives with guys late at night up some of these canyons. 3 am late? Naw. IMO she was in his house. He disposed of her body later, either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday in the canyon. That's why there was so much evidence in his house (all of the evidence bags being taken out by LE).

Edited for spelling (mobile phone)

Just caught up. I am happy that family will be able to finally bring Kenzie home! I like many, think possibly a deal was made with AA. The Canyon looks like a huge place to search and if one did not know the exact spot. Also, wouldn't LE presence be noticed and reported by press if LE were digging all over the Canyon? Jmo
The spot seems so specific, especially for someone who didn't grow up in that area and didn't spend time year after year exploring the state. I'm thinking there is a connection between AA and that spot. How would he know to go there? Did he visit there while attending school up there? Photo shoot there? Had a date there? Hiking trip with locals?

He's been there before, imo.

maybe, but honestly, I don't think anyone was expecting that LE was looking for her body. Maybe Im wrong. *shrug*
I agree....though I know there was at least one WS wondering why he would burn on a body on his suburban property when he could just dump a body in the canyon. The discussion didn't go far, IIRC, but I do recall that comment here at least once.

Smart WSers.

If what LE referred to as human tissue was found in the house (did they say definitively the house, or was it just the site?), would it be enough to state that he had committed murder? Without a body, how does one come to that conclusion? Does tissue go through changes that indicate death? Would it be the amount of tissue, such as blood, on the scene?
LE went straight to murder, not missing, which I felt to be unusual unless they had more than tissue. It’s harder to prosecute a case without a body. I always thought the burn was her belongings, but I’m unsure what was found at the house and how they went straight to murder. And I believe it was his digital footprint ( or even Kenzie’s) that led them to Logan.

I believe it must be the advancements in forensic testing that allowed for arrest.

Two brothers in Riverside County, CA have been charged with murder of their 16 yr old classmate, and no body has been located. Brothers were also arrested after investigators digging in the backyard. Limited details released by LE. Some reports are her clothing discovered buried, but sufficient to be charged with murder.

I thought the DA said “a lead”.
Yes, he did.

1:43 mark - Chief Brown
"Through tireless detective work and investigation, we recovered the body on Wednesday and were able to forensically confirm it was her."

8:01 mark - DA Gill
"Working together with the DA's office and the Homicide Unit of the Salt Lake City Police Department, the product of our efforts created a significant opportunity and lead. This was collaboratively vetted and it seemed to indicate that we may be able to locate the possible remains of MacKenzie Lueck. And that's what led to the events and the investigation on Wednesday, July 3."

Could The DA have known last week there was still remains to be found and that’s why they haven't charged him yet?

If he attempted to burn her and realized it wouldn’t work, the smell of a partially burned body, plus the gasoline neighbors reported smelling, would be overwhelming in his vehicle. It might never come out. Perhaps that clued them in that there was more to be found.

When they first mentioned female tissue, I immediately thought of menstrual tissue. There was no way AA attempted to incinerate an entire body in his backyard. But he may have attempted to burn clothing.

I think the human tissue was obtained from the charred remains they found in the burn pile.
Imo

This guy had multiple fires in his backyard, and was spotted using gasoline.

There’s no way he was just burning her luggage.

They found charred tissue there, which makes sense.

I think he burned her to an extent, perhaps in a futile effort to (effectively) cremate her.

When he realized this wasn’t going to work, he went to plan B. Otherwise, he would have likely disposed of her body in that canyon area in the first place.

Agreed.

Or, maybe he kept a piece of her, then got scared and decided to burn it when he thought he might be on the radar.

Did anybody get far enough into his book to see whether he thought cremating a body was easy?

Yeah, I think so to. In the meeting up website, or whatever it was, he stated he wanted to meet people and get connected with the outdoors, or something like that, so maybe he was into hiking or taking pictures of nature at one time. Imo

I can't imagine there would be any of that present after 2 days of burning.
I think there were two small fires, not one fire burning for two days.

So many twists and turns. Personally, from the beginning I figured that all of her body was not recovered in the yard. They keep choosing to refer to it as tissue instead of remains or her body, which of course could just up to semantics and the state that her body was in but I believed that there's no way he would have had time or the space for all of her body to be widdled down to just tissue, it would take far too long, the stench would begin, the fire would be too big and neighbors would notice. I always thought there was more of her somewhere else.

I don’t think he kept any part of her. This guy ain’t Dahmer.

My mom is a medical technologist who has worked with blood. She says it’s got to be skin tissue they are referring to because blood doesn’t clump when burned.

ITA. An entire body drenched in gasoline would produce a lot of very unhealthy black smoke and neighbors absolutely would complain. Those houses are on very narrow lots. I think he quickly burned items to try to remove DNA and then he buried the rest of the item.

There are likely traffic cameras in the canyon, but how hard would it be to look for a gray sedan. Seems like that would be a needle in a haystack situation

I've never seen any traffic cams in Logan Canyon, FWIW

That's what I was thinking too. Skin/scalp/fascia/blood or some combination thereof. Possible from a defensive wound, possible from a weapon with which he incapacitated her (blunt instrument to knock her out, etc.) or even brain matter possibly. I've always thought (the majority of) her remains/body would be somewhere else, but I was honestly beginning to think she'd never be found.
