Not an SK, but possibly one in the making. The sound proof room in his own home lead me to believe he had plans.

He repeatedly used charm, anger and lies to control and manipulate people around him. Charm defuses and disarms and anger makes people back down. Lies confuse to a greater extent. I think he thought he could get away with a lot, because he always had.

IMHO, this could have been the beginning.
Yeah, if this goes to trial I can't wait to hear the defense's reasoning as to why he needed a soundproof wine cellar. MOO

Imo, a serial killer in the making is a definite possibility.

Human predators are always clever enough to set up a lure, or often bold enough to just grab in broad daylight (as in the case of the 17 year old who grabbed little Jessica Ridgeway as she walked to school). But they're typically too arrogant and unintelligent, and also impulsive, to carry out a truly coherent plan all the way to the end without waving some sort of banner that eventually points to them. They get caught in traffic stops with the bloody axe in the back seat, or the rope in their glove box, or her purse in their closet. If smart phones and current investigative tech had existed when Bundy was around, he probably wouldn't have had the resume that he had. If he was so smart, he wouldn't have gone to prison and been put to death. I realize there are many unsolved cases, but it's more dumb luck and perfect storms on the part of the killer than any 'evil genius' prowess. This one seems especially lacking in smarts and what a gift that's been. JMO

I know this is a post way after the previous discussion about parents talking with their children, but I saw a few posts and came straight here.

Please, PLEASE, never assume a parent has spoken to their children about "tricky people" (see article link below), dos and don'ts of dating/meeting people, online dangers etc. Please, even if it is a niece, nephew or your child's friend, DO NOT ASSUME. In my in person life, I come across far more people that have no clue about dangers or prefer to stick their head in the sand than people who are educated about these things.

How the 'tricky people' concept teaches kids to spot unsafe adults

My 'theory':
1. ML was killed at his home.
2. AA burnt her body to try make it unidentifiable underneath her personal belongings and luggage.
3. Neighbors complained of putrid smoke. He told them he was 'almost done'. (on the 18th). He didn't want them to get any snoopier.
4. Arrogantly feeling he's outsmarted LE because no police have shown up. He removed her burnt body, wrapped it.
5. By at least Thursday that week, he transported her unrecognizable body to Logan Canyon. He did not have to go far off the road to dump it, because in his mind he felt they would focus on finding a killer in Logan and not in SLC. In his mind he was free & clear.
6. He covered the burn pit. Listed his mattresses.
7. He watched tv reports of ML missing and 'patted himself on the shoulder 5 days later for being such a brilliant killer'. No LE were at his door he was 'safe'.
8. He went into week 2 (June 24) even more confident that he did not cancel his reserved AirBnB guy.
9. LE were extremely careful in releasing info on things such as what the Lyft driver told them or not. BUT meanwhile they already had AA identified, and under surveillance before their first meet up with him.
10. Charred human tissue was found in the burnpit, when they knew the rest of her body wasn't there, they knew its somewhere else, and thus their brilliant work which has led them to Logan Canyon.
11. Remember the car being taken away. I would bet the LE have checked the tires and under of the car for grasses, dirt and other material from Logan Canyon. Also tire tracks on the road.
12. LE asked Logan police for diving equip to be on hand but they didn't need it, because they found her quickly and did not say she was in water. Thus why it makes sense if she was found on road 348.
Lucky #13: I don't think he told them, I think they and FBI used every tool available to them and were able to isolate her drop in Logan Canyon. Yes people say there is no cell service or cameras there....However - there are dams. When 911 occurred - cameras were installed at all hydro dams.
All the above is MOO
Very good sleuthing

Yeah. This sounded iffy to me also. Sounded like a fabrication to support getting a warrant or diving deeper... the whole story about tissue from the fire did not really add up.

But what human tissue was found in the bonfire that wasn’t burned to a crisp? This does not make sense to me.

Somewhere in the archives, I remember someone mentioning that maybe she was pregnant, he found out and lost it, or she told him she was going to keep the baby, etc. Obviously just a theory, but I think it is as good of one as drugs, sex, fantasy, etc. If they had known each other for a couple of months, it is very plausible. I hate that my curiosity wants to know but if we find out, it will be at a much later date. IMO.

MOO once police were bearing down on his trail he was caught. But avoiding that scrutiny was possible. AA was not wrong in thinking no one would be looking for a disenfranchised woman with a very high level of intensity. The sorority sisters and family put the fire into the investigation.

Looks like a 2016 to me. (I'm in collision repair)
I'm no expert, but I can't find one with rear lights that shape, not even a 2016. They seem to have a very distinctive pointed shape, unless I'm looking at the wrong model.

You can be vague in an arrest warrant, to a point.

You can’t be that vague though.

The fact they found some of her burned remains, is incredibly important. They couldn’t not release that.

If idiots want to engage in reckless and baseless speculation, that’s not law enforcement’s fault.

I am very glad the states who are very serious about actually carrying out executions for the worst of the worst in each state are still able to find drug suppliers to do so.

I dont care if they buy the needed drugs from another country.

It's amazing they have no problems supplying drugs to euthanize animals, but protest executing cold blooded stone cold killers who have done nothing for society other than prey on it by murdering so many innocent victims.

Imo, it's far too humane, and can't begin to compare to how the murderers carried out the heinous cruel murders of their victims.

The states with the death penalty option has far more power, and leverage than those who do not.

It has resulted in many murderers pleading guilty if the DP was taken off the table.

It's also been a powerful tool for families of missing murdered loved ones where the murderers where willing to give up the location if the DP was removed as an option.

It shows horrible murderers are scared to death at the thought of their own lives being taken, yet cared ZERO about taking so many lives in so many barbaric inhumane ways.

Executions that are never carried out are also a slap in the face to each jury who recommended death after weighing carefully all of the evidence only to have their penalty verdict completely ignored by the state.

Imo, AA deserves nothing less than death, and I think if convicted his jury will be recommended he be put to death. Imo it's the only just, and harshest allowable sentence that fits his crimes.

The last poll I saw stated 70 percent still want the death penalty option for certain individuals.

A person is mainly liquid. I hate to be graphic but burning 120 or even just 10 pounds of meat in your backyard in 30 minutes might have some matter slipping into the earth.

Imo, it's more logical to me certain tissue belonging to KL was thrown in the bonfire only, and not her body.

It just doesn't make sense to me he would put her body in the bonfire then retrieve it at some point, and discard the body in the canyon later.

That would be even more risky with not only putting the body in the fire, but retrieving it in such a horrid condition to transport it.

I think he most likely transported the body between the times he was burning off, and on for 2 days in the dark of night. I believe he is familiar with the area he disgarded her body to remain in his comfort zone.

The bonfire was done to destroy evidence that was inside of his house after murdering his victim including KLs human tissue, but not what remained of the majority of her body.

I do still believe he had premeditated all of this out before he even lured KL to the park including how he planned to torture her....how he was going to end her life along with how he was going to desecrate her body, and how he was going to get rid of the physical evidence.

Every murderer is convinced they will get away with their crimes. He is no different than thousands of others who thought the very same, but wound up being caught due to their own stupidity, and dumbness.

Hi MassGuy
I would never say this is Law enforcements fault. In fact I said they did a great job in making an arrest. In my opinion People making these speculations are not idiots . LE knows what they say has consequences, and I am not saying they needed to hide important facts...."finding some of her remains would have been just as good as finding some of her Burned remains"
Speculation is what investigation is all about, isn't it?

Most young sexually active women who do not want to get pregnant are on birth control, IMHO.

“Speculation is what investigation is all about”. I kindly disagree. Investigation is based off of facts and putting the pieces together. Maybe a bit of speculation. But it’s not what it’s “all about”. IMO.

I'm not sure that's what he thought, or why he would perceive ML as disenfranchised. But if that's what he thought, it's a great example of the tunnel vision and dullness and lack of intelligence I referenced.

Arrest warrant only cites recovery of "charred female tissue" matching ML's DNA. What's to say that AA did not burn any "clean up" evidence containing ML's female tissue.

No evidence that I'm aware of that AA burned ML's body in a bonfire. Only assumptions and speculation....
