Friends of slain University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck have commended the Salt Lake City Police Department’s work on the homicide investigation.

[...]

The group’s goal is to prevent something like this from happening again. They said they are in talks with North Salt Lake about cameras that don’t actually record, as was the case at the city’s Hatch Park, where Lueck was last seen alive.

Lueck’s friends said they will attend a city council meeting in North Salt Lake to discuss getting real cameras in place.
The group's goal is to prevent something like this happening again with talks about cameras not working? For some reason I don't think that if there were working cameras in the park this wouldn't have happened. IMO the group needs to be be talking about other things that could prevent this from happening again. The elephant in the room seems to be ignored, in this case.

I went back and looked at the Missing Posters and none of them mentioned what she was last seen wearing, which I think is interesting, as many Missing Persons posters go into great detail on all the clothing they were last seen in.

This makes me think after she retrieved her checked bag at luggage claim that perhaps she went in the bathroom and changed into something else. Perhaps this meeting with AA was planned before she even left on her trip back to California.

An airport certainly has video footage of her leaving the premises and getting into the Lyft. Why did they not use that footage? Perhaps the video wasn't as clear? Or they didn't want to show her in an outfit change? Or they didn't want to reveal any details on the Lyft car in case it was involved in the disappearance? At the very beg. of the investigation, surely the Lyft driver was the main person they were looking for.

What we do know is that ML was interested in capitalizing and monetizing her attractiveness. If she did meet AA on a dating website, what about him or his profile would she have found interesting? His modeling history or modeling "connections"? Now I'm beginning to think her incentive may have been "professional photos" or "professional videos" to increase her SB business.
Her clothing was described in the SLCPD press release and on NamUs but both have been removed now.

I've been looking for any reports that said her flight was delayed and haven't found any. Is it official?

This is from the timeline thread :

June 17, 1:35 a.m.
Mackenzie Lueck arrives at Salt Lake International Airport after a visiting California for her grandmother’s funeral.

June 17, 2:01 a.m.
Lueck sends a text message to her mother to tell her she landed safely.

I checked the Southwest Airlines arrivals at SLC for this Sunday just past and the take off time was 22:50 and arrival time 01:35.

Also we know he's a liar. What if he told ML, that his roommate was the photographer or he lived with three other women, and they were all at home at that time? Or there was a huge party going on at the house at the moment, lots of people around? The house will be too difficult for Lyft to find?

Anything to make her more comfortable to meet him at the park to go on to their next destination....

Nope, it wouldn't have prevented it but I applaud their efforts to do something. I get the impression that this is just a start. MOO

1:35 was the scheduled arrival time but her flight was late. @Jethro4WS pulled the actual flight times from FlightAware:

Good morning, everyone!
I haven't had time to post much, but I'm doing my best to keep up with you all!
Here's to hoping that we don't have to wait until 4:59:59 for charges.

I am currently expecting two things:
1) Additional charges beyond what we have heard in relation to KL
2) That he led them to her in exchange for DP off the table.

MOO, 'course.

Question:

If AA had been creating and distributing pornographic material for profit (as potentially indicated by his funds and cameras), would that be worthy of charges, if the subject matter itself didn't violate any laws?

If all participants were willing I believe that is legal. Now if he wasn't paying taxes on his income, that is illegal. Or if any of them were underage, that would also be illegal.

Yes, LE said that "phone records" show that he was the last person Kenzie texted with, so I would assume that means they were texting with their cell phones.
Although they may have been communicating on SM that weekend as well. Her friend stated in an interview that she was on SM all weekend, but did not answer a text message from her asking how she was doing. Imo

I have a quick question. I seem to recall LE saying that AA "said" he had texted ML at 6 pm on Sunday, June 16. Did LE say whether or not that had actually been corroborated by the phone records? Does anyone recall and can link? TIA.

My gosh!! How many apps does it take to get a date??? And how in the world did us old folks manage without them? The plethera of dating sites is really overwhelming.!!jmo

A funny scene of three years ago. Me and my husband in the Parisian subway. We both pay attention to a young man, very handsome and well-dressed, and equally beautiful woman, sitting next to each other. They, obviously, are accidental companions, they don’t even notice each other, each is looking into his cellphone.

My husband, to me: “I bet each of them is now browsing dating websites in search of a partner, not noticing that his best destiny might be sitting next to him/her”.

Thank you so much for looking that up Pommy.

The reason I was looking into the timings yesterday (and stopped when I found the post in the timeline thread) was because I would have expected her to let him know she would be late if she had a plan to meet him. Perhaps 6 pm wasn't the last communication with him before her flight departed.

The clothing description was on the SLPD poster. Eta. We also have seen pictures of her at the airport.

BTW, the cameras are a big issue. I wish there were cameras on that Delphi bridge, too... it is safety, and they are necessary.

As to the elephant in the room, it should not be ignored, because if it is, ML’s death is in vain, and no one learns from it.

While I fully support women’s decisions for autonomy, first, they, too, have to hear about the hazards of such a lifestyle, for themselves. My first though is, OK, a student does it for a couple of years, then pays off student loans, gets married, what about the simplest consequences, such as STD’s, and her childbearing?

Does the lifestyle affect the quality of her education? Can she find a decent partner later, or will the experience leave her looking for “marrying upward”? (And we know fairy tales almost never happen). Does it increase her chance of staying alone later in life, because being “spoiled” is one thing, marrying someone out of your league is very different?

Or is the SB trend good, as some “incels” who might have the money but no stamina to date can use SB pool and get some experience? (Might be the case).

Last but not least, imagine we, the mothers, have daughters who want to try it. What should we tell them, what advices might we give to them? With our life experience? It is all important.

Either blaming ML or saying it is good, given how it ended, is wrong, but since the trend exists, let us explore it.

Just the moral qualities of the person...he joined the Mormon church because he thought it would facilitate him becoming a citizen, he married for the green card, he used the support of LDS church in Utah and then he fabricated 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. Do people see how wrong it is? And I am not even religious...

If someone decides to kill someone and doesn't mind getting caught, the victim doesn't stand a chance.

The only 2 options are:
1)Have some (mini) weapon - knife, gun, pepperspray, stun-guns, etc
2) have a minute gps enabled (with sim) tracker device likely as a hidden key chain or in your wallet

You must also have trusted friends who can track you.

Just read your post after I posted and totally agree with parents and many of your thoughts. I wasn’t clear on the 6pm being the last text, I’ll have to go back and read. I think that is what AA said, but in reality they were texting at airport.
Yes, they were apparently texting right up until 3:00, when their phones were in the same vicinity and then within one minute of them making contact the phone was turned off. Imo

Yes...been trying to piece together this also. The information we have of their supposed last text communications of 6 pm and their meetup @ 3 am, seems inconceivable no contact in between those times as her being on a plane only accounts for a small percentage of the hours (especially in texting/data type usage minutes timing). I can’t believe there was no communication in the interim. Especially if we take the original statement from shared ride driver along the lines of “she seemed happy to see person she met up with” (paraphrasing) - This is something I’ve been stuck on from these facts beings released- something’s askew- it’s about what, 8-9 hours time if you factor in time change heading from PST to MST- long time no contact for the person you are seemingly happily planning to willingly meeting/see at 3 am- I’m a texting fool and I’m double her age + .... so come on...her generation runs connectivity circles around me!! Ie: I have no social media presence except FB which is basically inactive. Something's amiss when looking at this footprint that we’ve been privy to this far I have to believe...jmo-
