From PC, It doesn’t appear that there’s anything to corroborate ML meeting an individual at the park, beyond Lyft’s statements. JMO

it could be that the park was not the original location for the lyft. this person was late so ML jumps in a lyft, this person is on their way so says hey meet me at the park. a park is an odd place to meet a stranger, but if you knew them from history it would be more comfortable.

another idea is that she and this person communicated through whatsapp or google phone or another app that wouldn’t show up in phone records.

So, did she check luggage? It seems like a lot of time from landing to getting the Lyft? MOO

1:35 a.m. ML's flight landed in SLC
2:01 a.m. ML texted her mother
2:42 a.m. Lyft taken from airport
2:59 a.m. Lyft arrived at Hatch Park
I think that’s a reasonable timeline. Touchdown at 1:35 and 25 minutes to get to gate and deplane.
40 minutes to collect baggage (if checked), request Lyft. Probably hit the ladies room, texted her meet up partner, etc.

Interesting that they reviewed the airport surveillance tape but aren't releasing any information about what she was last seen wearing. (Not that it would be super useful, it is quite easy to change clothes). But interesting nonetheless.
Yes! This. I wonder why not releasing what she was doing or wearing at the airport all that time would compromise anything.

Police: Missing U of U student met unidentified person in North Salt Lake after Lyft ride
[...]

According to police, Lueck texted her parents at 2:01 a.m. on June 17 to say her plane had landed safely at the Salt Lake City International Airport. She had been in California for a funeral.

She then took a Lyft at 2:42 a.m. to Hatch Park in North Salt Lake. Lueck, who lives in Salt Lake City, was met at the park by an individual in a vehicle. The Lyft driver left her there and said the Lueck didn't seem distressed, according to Assistant Chief Tim Doubt with SLCPD. Police have interviewed the Lyft driver and contacted the company. The driver is not considered a suspect.

Detectives are working to identify the car and person Lueck met at Hatch Park. Doubt says they don't know who the person is.

[...]

Police have interviewed friends and family and have visited places Lueck frequented, in hopes to get more information.

Sgt. Brandon Shearer with SLCPD said officers have searched several places in North Salt Lake over the weekend and on Monday.

Boy everyone here is basically ahead of LE on their thoughts of what could have happened.
David Begnaud is on it.

Most interesting to me was the Lyft driver. I had red flags waving about him. But a reporter asked if there was any reason to suspect the Lyft driver and they said he immediately took calls right after dropping of Mackenzie so his story checks out. I’m assuming he means the Lyft driver continued with other passengers after dropping Mackenzie at the park.

Multiple warrants served. Hopefully a search warrant of the Lyft vehicle.

Video of around the park but not from inside the park
So maybe LE can tell what direction the car arrived from and what direction the car headed after getting ML? I hope.

wonder why?

Well, if LE thinks that the Lyft driver has nothing to do with it, then any details about the Lyft driver should be off limits until the time that he/she needs to testify in a trial—if this is foul play. And there are definitely ways that the Lyft driver might have been cleared.

And, if LE thinks that the Lyft driver might have been responsible for her disappearance, they don’t need much, if anything, in the way of public input—they’d have found the person they were looking for, and they might well want him to think he wasn’t suspected.

All this MOO

served written search warrants

Yes I wonder what these warrants are, is it just standard phone, and possibly her residence to see if there are any clues there? They clearly stated they don’t know the individual is so it can’t be a warrant on a POis home, unless they’re following up on a tip?

She may have changed. Wearing something comfy on flight, something nicer for meetup?

So after today’s PC, if ML or whoever picked her up from the park doesn’t contact LE, I think it’s safe to assume she did not leave voluntarily. MOO. This is garnering too much attention now for it to be a walk away!

I think Kenzie was emotionally invested in this guy - & missed him after a couple days away - that's why she went to the lengths to see him.....but very odd circumstances
There must be a reason not at her home or his - super secret affair
Or could be SD......
however: how emotionally invested in a SD is liable to be....?
Hmmmm
I just don't think she'd decide to skip town with her kitty at home, without getting at least some extra things - plus she'd be ruining all her college work by missing midterms. Nope: IMO I don't think she voluntarily skipped town. Plus the concern, heartache of her family - I don't think she'd willingly put them through this

What a strange place for a middle of the night meeting

View attachment 190405
There don't seem to be many options in that area, in terms of public places.
I'm just wondering why not the airport, as it didn't seem that long for her to get there to meet him or her.
Why didn't the driver just meet her there? Was it too public? Too many cameras?

  • #436
Maybe they aren't saying the Lyft driver because they want to watch this person?

  • #437
Anyone know if she was close with her Grandma?

  • #438
I wonder what specifically they are doing, as they stated, to ensure they get the make and model of the vehicle right? Perhaps the driver gave a description of characteristics and they are searching for a match via experts in this field.

Police: missing U of U student MacKenzie Lueck took Lyft to park, left with someone in a vehicle
[...]

Doubt said the Lyft driver reported Lueck met someone at that park, who had arrived in a vehicle. He said the driver reported that “MacKenzie did not appear to be in any kind of distress” when she was picked up.

No details about the vehicle or a description of the person she met are available at this time.

“At this time there is no evidence that any harm has come to her, however because of the circumstances of the case we want to make sure that she is all right,” Doubt said.

Police have tried to locate the woman through her phone, which is turned off, but said that has not been successful. They are interviewing those known to her and searching areas she frequents.

Sounds like LE are working with Lyft, putting finishing touches on a sketch of the suspect.
If Lyft truly had her only from 2:42 to 2:59....And then took new rides immediately.... then he would appear to be cleared.
