Perhaps she was seeing a guy who was not LDS. Isn't it against the Mormon religion to date someone who is not Morman? If someone knows can you please chime in?

No, you can date anyone. It depends on how religious she is. People who are very religious prefer to date people who have the same beliefs and values.

I haven’t seen this, and it would be a very important detail to leave out. Do you have a link to where you read it?

This is what the Heavy article said:

Fine told KTVX-TV that Lueck was planning to return home to California to visit her family again on July 23 and bought plane tickets for that trip.

Her heading back to CA today was mentioned in the press conference by KS but I think I've seen it before in an article so I'll try to go back and find it. Interesting, though that you found an article where AF says a return on July 23. All the more reason, I guess, not to trust the PC despite the girls' best intentions.

Well, to confuse it more:
June 23 (today) is a Sunday. Not a usual day for a wedding?
July 23 is a Tuesday. Not a usual day for a wedding?

jmo
that's what I was just thinking. Sunday is a decent day for a wedding. Tuesday?? Not so much.

The fact that they aren't releasing where she got dropped off in NSL is indicating to me that law enforcement is trying to protect the integrity of the case, therein believe there's a case to protect. Had it been truly nothing, they would have said such and focused the attention somewhere else. Someone on another thread that lives in SLC said police were knocking on doors of their apartment complex because her phone was pinging in that location. I live in NSL, and there's only a few apartment complexes that are very big at all, really only two. It's a very industrial part of salt lake, refineries, huge FedEx plant, lots of trucker companies. There are quite a few one or two building apartment complexes, really nice million dollar homes on the hill by the golf course, and then what's referred to as Foxboro, which is nice newer modest homes, there is a pretty large apartment complex there as well. It seems the attention is really focused on SLC, leading me to believe they think she left NSL at some point and ended up in SLC, and I think that's where the trail went cold.

I didn't look up July 23 to see what day it is. I know a lot of people that have gotten married on Sundays, though, and remember back to my first wedding in 2005 when I was told that, although Saturday seems to be a more common day for a wedding, you can cut costs by doing it on a Sunday.

But, if she's in the wedding in July, and her next trip was, in fact, scheduled for July, she could have been going back a few days early to participate in bridesmaid/bridal party activities in the days leading up to the wedding.

Yeah, here’s an article that references the July 23 date. This is coming from her family, so I trust it.

Lueck's family said she had planned to fly from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles on July 23.

If she was scheduled to fly back this weekend, that absolutely would have been mentioned. It would be another important event missed (midterm, work, flight).

I’m not trusting what her friends are saying.

Ok. “Houston we have a problem.”

This is in the link that Heavy referenced:

Ashley says the trip was to go back home this weekend to see family in California.

“Things aren’t adding up,” said Fine. “She had another trip planned. She didn’t make that trip so far.”

So this friend IS saying that she was planning to go home this weekend (right now, not next week).

So she’s either confused, or there are two trips.

I knew I could count on you to sniff it out, BUT I’m still very confused!

Maybe I'm the only one here that feels this, but I'm getting mixed signals.

I'd like to believe that KL is voluntarily missing but from what we are hearing from friends is that she is very responsible, in a sorority, doing well at school and almost finished. She bought a plane ticket to come home in July which demonstrates future planning. The cat being left alone also concerns me. I don't think she'd disappear herself without making arrangements for her cat.

So for all those reasons I have a major concern that something has happened that is not voluntary.

However, I'm surprised the family is not in SLC. The PC today was strange. I almost get the feeling that LE was sitting back watching it with purpose. I can't put my finger on it, but "strange" is the only word I can come up with.

LE has not advised or, even mentioned, if KL's bank or credit cards have been used. Her FAMILY stated that her phone was either turned off or dead - not LE. No searches. LE is very tight lipped. So many of the things you would typically hear from LE we are not. LE are not really asking for help. They haven't asked people to check their security cameras in the area she was dropped. So....they either know something bad has happened or, KL has chosen to disappear and they know that.

I think there is a LOT we don't know.

So did she leave NSL and get another Lyft ride back to her apartment in SLC?

I think they meant this trip. I thiink July 23 is a misprint. I almost quoted it when I first saw it to point that out.

Unless like you said there are two trips.

There's no doubt that they're trying to protect the integrity of the case and I can respect that but if she did leave NSLC and ended up (or her phone ended up) at an apartment in SLC, why is LE still leading us to believe she could be in NSLC? Why wouldn't they say that they have reason to believe she could be in SLC? In saying that, they wouldn't be giving anything away that would hinder the case but it seems like it would help cut down on the wild goose chase those of you in SLC & NSLC are being sent on in their requests to help be on the lookout for her.

I never heard the July date but I did notice in the PC that it was mentioned she was due home in CA today. It also stood out to me that no wedding was mentioned this time, just that she was due home today. Maybe there are two trips. It also left me wondering why if not a wedding she was turning around and going right home again...

And was she to be doing mid-terms or finals? I swear I have heard both terms there as well.

Jmo.

So did she leave NSL and get another Lyft ride back to her apartment in SLC?

I highly doubt it.

There would be a record of that transaction, and we’ve heard nothing to that effect.

  • #816
do we know for SURE there is not a family member in SLC?

Unless like you said there is two trips.

I think it’s the other way.

Her next trip was July 23, and not this weekend.

Her family has only mentioned the one.

Heeheee! I will definitely take your word for it. My brain just went to jello!

I'm putting aside the details about the trip(s) for the moment as they likely don't give us any information that we don't already know - she is missing important daily activities like school and has been out of contact with family and friends. We really don't need to know the wedding date, imo, to know something is amiss.

Well, all the nationwide attention puts the emphasis on the Lyft aspect ... so I expect that Lyft is going to want Salt Lake City PD to get out there with a press conference or releases to get Lyft's name out of there.

Either way, what happened with the PC by friends is almost certain to cause SLCPD to say something to try to settle this down, rein it in ... and probably another methaphor or two
