GUILTY UT - Megan Huntsman charged in deaths of 7 newborns, Pleasant Grove, 1996-2006

New article stating she admitted to killing 6 of the babies:

Kudos to that man for calling the cops. Someone who has been in legal trouble before might be leery to call, but he did. I can respect that.

My thought process now is that she was a non-working drug addict who was probably sleeping with people for drugs. No matter what the case, she is purely evil. I could imagine killing someone who was putting my life or my families life in danger. But to strangle or suffocate newly born children 6 times?!? Does Utah have the death penalty?

I am a bit confused on what dates her husband was in prison. He plead guilty in 2005, was sentenced to 9 years, but appealed. So I don't know if he was serving time during his appeal or not.
His offense was the following:
"Family and neighbors identified him as Darren West. West pleaded guilty in federal court in 2005 to two counts of possessing chemicals intended to be used in manufacturing methamphetamine, court records show. In August 2006, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison, but appealed the term three times. He maintained his innocence and said he never had any intention to manufacture meth."

The fact that a mother killed her newborns sadly doesn't shock me anymore and I don't even bother to ask why. There is no reasoning.

With that being said my only questions here is what woman would in her right mind would give birth 7 freaking times alone. I'm sorry but giving birth is so painful how didn't anyone like her husband hear her or anything over the years. Or I mean I would be scared if I was alone giving birth. I could see how it may happen once to a scared teen girl. But a grown woman 7 times?

Right, when women do this you can't just say "oh they are mean and awful and just couldn't wait to kill this next baby." Pregnancy and birth are not a barrel of fun for women. When I hear about women being excoriated for repeating getting abortions or killing newborns or just having kids they clearly have no interest in caring for, I just wonder what is going on with them. Clearly, whether they are legally culpable or not, there is something off with their thought processes. No one subjects themselves to that over and over again without something being off. If someone cannot figure out how to prevent pregnancies they have no interest in proceeding with, or to get assistance with the birth and a placement for the child, they are probably either incredibly depressed and detached and can't get the initiative to do so, or they have a massive drug problem and keep putting it off. It's like they are in some sort of autopilot survival mode that usually comes out of some sort of trauma.

Most women can give birth fine without assistance, and women who do this repeatedly clearly fall into that category - it's obviously something they can handle better than many others. But you have to wonder why that is. It's like when men go on and on about how women just get pregnant for the welfare - while I'm not saying that's not an issue, I really don't think it's that simple for any woman, at least not beyond the first child. They make it sound like women can win this lottery of wealth just by the easy process of having a bunch of kids for an extra $100 a month each - it's not an easy process for most women.

I am a quiet and efficient birther, lol. I would also prefer do birth alone, but I chose not to. With my last, I had a very hands off midwife, basically all she did was take vitals once in a while and check the baby after delivery. Otherwise, I was alone and content.

I'm sure as heck not giving this woman any slack, just offering another point of view as far as the actual birth part. I do believe she's committed serial murder.

And also does this make her a serial killer? I mean IMO she obviously had some sick addiction to this because she was a woman. She was married. She had older children. She new how to avoid getting pregnant. I mean we're not talking about a teen girl who was scared of her parents here. This is just nuts.

Count me as another who only wanted to be left alone when in labor. My poor DH. We had taken Lamaze classes. He was ready to coach. Didnt take long for me to tell him to go sit down, I would let him know if I needed him.

That's so cute, lol. I tolerated my husband's presence during labor, but barely. I didn't want him close to me, did not want to talk or hear anyone else speaking, no phones or tv. Luckily, I was also pretty quick about it. :-)

Oh don't get me wrong ladies I didn't want anyone touching me either. Lol and looking back on it I wasn't very loud at all. Only in labor for 12 hours. It wasn't bad. But it sure wasn't any fun but the pay off was my healthy baby. The only way I'd ever do it again is for another baby to love not kill.

But that's true tho some woman can just give birth so fast and easy. Idk either way this woman has major problems IMO that are way deeper then just being someone who had to hide a pregnancy. Her eyes look like crazy eyes.

Yep, touching was a no-go for me too.

We're getting off topic though... I haven't looked at her pic yet, off I go.

Linda7NJ that would not surprise me one single bit.

Don't know if this has been answered yet but posters are wondering how no one noticed she was pregnant. As her neighbor in Pleasant Grove said you don't ask her if she gained weight.

One Pleasant Grove neighbor said. "There's been times she'd put on weight and I thought, 'Is she pregnant?' But of course, that's something you don't ask a woman," said SanDee Wall, who has lived next to the Pleasant Grove house since 2000.

"But then there was no children anymore. But there was a couple of times I thought so with the weight gain, because she's very tiny. But it's a shock. The first thing that comes to my mind is how can you have them at home and not have any appearance of it? Kind of makes you wonder, 'How did it all happen?'" she said. Wall now has many of the same questions that others have about the bizarre case..."

WOW. It's amazing that a British paper comes up with this info before we get it here in Utah.

Huntsman's booking photo speaks volumes in my opinion. Something is not wired correctly. The look on her face is frightening.

When exactly was she pregnant? Apparently hubby was in prison for last 9 years. She is the one who claimed she gave births to these children in a time period prior to him going to prison. I don't think autopsy results are back yet.
I wonder if she even gave accurate dates for when she actually gave birth.

Remember that by the time of the last baby, this woman was G10, P10.

As in, gravida 10. Ten pregnancies and deliveries that we know of. That is pretty uncommon in the U.S. nowadays. Some religious and cultural groups have a lot of kids, but 10 in a woman of her age is a lot.

Labor and pushing may have been extremely fast by about baby #4. We don't know if they were all full term.

And she may not have kept accurate dates, or any kind of dates, of when the babies were born. Actually, keeping the bodies in the garage of the home she and her 3 girls lived in is very odd and "disorganized behavior" even for a serial killer. You would think she might want to dispose of the bodies over time to cover her actions. Surely she knew they were still in the garage in boxes, and could be discovered by anyone.

Just a horrific case. I hate to admit this, but with so many bodies, I actually wondered if any of the babies were birthed by her daughters. DNA will be interesting.

I would think you've either got to have a very serious hourly meth addiction, or have experienced a severe psychotic break (or both?) in order to feel the living movement of 6 children in your womb only to murder them once born.

Wow - her booking photo is very scary. Noted she doesn't have a sore-ridden face prevalent with long-term meth addicts.

As someone stated above, I too am curious to hear the DNA results - because it's possible that her daughters might have carried some of these children.

Beyond Fathomable.

Baffling!
Especially considering birth control is so readily available, inexpensive and can even be free.
I've got nothing.
She suffers from some bizarre post partum psychosis?
I've got nothing....
Is she delusional?

Schizophrenic?

It's beyond comprehension.
