A Story County judge Friday denied a request to move the trial of a Huxley woman charged with killing her two newborn babies out of central Iowa.

When questioned about the birth, Burkle told police she had a boy and a girl. She said both infants were not moving or breathing when they were born.

Investigators, however, have said the two infants were girls, but they have not released any details about the cause of death.

According to the criminal complaint previously released by investigators, Burkle later admitted the babies were born alive and she took actions to end their lives.

Burkle's trial was originally supposed to begin on April 3rd, but a Story County Judge approved changing the date to Aug. 28th and pushing back the deadline to enter evidence.

The judge did deny a request for a change of venue. Burkle remains in jail and if convicted of either count of murder, she'll spend the rest of her life behind bars.

It started with a phone call in January that led police to a gruesome discovery. Jackie Burkle pleaded guilty to killing her newborn twins and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office has performed an autopsy on the twin girls but has not yet released a cause and manner of death in the case. According to a complaint and affidavit in the case, Burkle admitted that she’d committed certain acts to kill both of the newborns and that she had intended to kill them.

There's a special place somewhere for someone like her who "intended to kill" her precious babies (God's gifts). :furious: Jail is much too good for her.


I would have gladly taken both of them. People like this make me think everyone should have to prove they are fit. That may be extreme, but something has to be done. I wish we could afford to adopt again, but we can't and then she murders both of her children. :banghead:
