Perhaps Martin needs a "sex" lawyer.

Maybe Nurmi or Wilmott could "defend" him? :floorlaugh:

(I know- different states, but couldn't resist  )

IMO, that is not funny. I don't know if the people that Nurmi defends are real sex offenders but I do know there are plenty of men that are falsely accused of molesting their children during a divorce. :moo::moo:

ETA: I was not saying that MM was falsely accused. I was thinking about other cases.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing allegations that a Utah doctor convicted of drowning his wife in a bathtub may have committed a similar crime in South Jersey.

“We are looking into it,” Prosecutor Warren Faulk said Thursday of the claim that Dr. Martin MacNeill killed his brother, Rufus, several decades ago.

Maybe LE will look into the other deaths in MM's family.

http://www.courtchatter.com/2013/10/is-dr-martin-macneill-serial-killer-or.html

"Anna Osbourne Walthall says she also had an affair with MacNeill in 2005. She testified on Oct 3, 2012 that Martin told her he tried to kill his mom when he was 8 years old. While his mother was passed out drunk, he gathered medications in the house and put them in her beer. He then helped his mother drink until she stopped breathing. His sister called 911 and his mother was revived, according to testimony from Walthall. She says when she asked him if he had regretted that, he stated that he regretted there weren't more drugs in the house.

She also testified that he told her he had killed his brother by submerging him in the bathtub. His brother had repeatedly tried to commit suicide and had become an embarrassment. FACT: Rufus Roy MacNeill was found dead in his bathtub in New Jersey. However, at Michele’s funeral, Martin said that Roy was found with a needle still in his arm “Ten nickel bags were his ticket out”. He went on to say that his sister died in her 20’s by strangling herself, his oldest brother drank himself senseless, had a stroke and died in a nursing home. Another brother died in 2006, Martin claims from drugs and alcohol. And yet another brother committed suicide two months before Michele’s death"

Actually, most of what Suzanne Gustin does seems to be sex-related crimes. I wonder if she's going to be part of his defense.

I don't see how he has much of a defense, unless they don't allow Alexis' recorded conversations into the trial. I don't think the "you aren't responsible for what you do when you're asleep" defense cuts the mustard.

I bet Martin rues the day that Alexis was born. She's really hung him out to dry!

I believe that Spencer is doing that case too. he is asking for a delay as he says he is too tired after the last case...that is sort of pathetic. i hope they don't give him a delay...Alexis deserves a speedy trial now. I also think truth be known he is scared of her...she is so much sharper than he is.

Do we know what happened to the list of pills that Damian and his girlfriend were supposed to write down? Or MM wrote down? (Confused on that detail.)

Listening to opening statements again, why is MM saying there was blood everywhere for to First Responders?

Thanks for the link. I watched this and the Dateline I missed the other night.

Okay, I must live around a bunch of heathens. Here we call a spade a spade. Forget diplomacy or skirting, but it was her parents, so they get a pass.

The Dateline episode, there was a disclaimer on the website that most of the footage in these shows are recorded long before the case even makes it to Court. So that may be why some thought it was weak. Some of the footage was from the original Dateline, so I would guess nearly all of it, other than the MC, was recorded then. I liked it, I liked the way it went.

I love the man that MC's the Dateline's voice too, he has a soothing sort of voice and has trained himself to annunciate well, and to use pitches. I like the way he lilts things, like the Rankin-Bass Holiday Specials of yore. Just more craycray via yours truly on voices. :D

BBM~

Notice that neither one of her parents say that they couldn't imagine that their daughter, could ever be involved in such a heinous crime? They did NOT, because they know she is evil and capable.

Her dad says he hopes and prays to God that she did not have anything to do with this...BUT, IF SHE DID... then I can't help her.

BTW ~ the MC on that Dateline was Keith Morrison. We love him at our house too. Love the way he says rec-Ord...with a very long o

Listening to opening statements again, why is MM saying there was blood everywhere for to First Responders?

The list of the pills that were left was never found. (Imagine that)

MM had lied so much that he tripped himself up with the blood was everywhere story.

Convicted killer Martin MacNeill still faces other legal battles

By Jennifer Dobner, For the Deseret News
Salt Lake City, UT

PROVO — A former Pleasant Grove doctor convicted of murdering his wife by drugging her and drowning her in a bathtub will appeal the decision handed down by jurors last weekend, his attorney said.

But before that happens, Martin MacNeill has other legal battles to fight. He is scheduled to return to a Provo court on Monday to answer other criminal charges.

Snipped:

Spencer also represents MacNeill in the sex abuse case. Judge Samuel McVey will hear oral arguments on a motion to continue Monday. A two-day jury trial is currently scheduled to begin Dec. 3.

“I just can’t do that trial in December. I’m emotionally and physically exhausted. I need some time to recuperate,” Spencer said Wednesday. “So the judge will hear my motion to continue and we’ll plan from there.”

Wonder if there will be a thread for this at WS ...and if any media will stream.

I keep going back to the Zyrtec pad with the list of meds Michele was given. Bless Alexis' heart. I think she knew her father was responsible for Michele's death and would do anything to make sure her mom received justice. I think the Zyrtec pad list of meds was not created contemporaneously. Spencer may have been right on that one. It does not change the overall outcome or the fact that MM did it.JMV

Clear out your cookies, and cache, with cc cleaner, or manually. Close out your browser and come back.

Try the first video listed here (you should only see 3 and 2 are NG show):

I just got a new laptop day before yesterday with windows 8.1. If someone can tell me how to do all of the above I will love you forever as I cannot figure out how now to do such things with this version of windows! :floorlaugh:

Nice to see a bunch of you folks already heading to the Jane Bashara thread as so much is going on right now with Getz in preparation for that trial.

Our own Darkman has done a fabulous job of tracking the case since the beginning so great threads to review to catch up! See y'all there and in chat !

Yes. The one that he had his son do, when they flushed the pills. Also the black book that was never found.

And, I agree with Zuri about the Zyrtec pad. I found it conspicuous, along with the months of checking into his cell phone, where his car was, etc...

Granted that still leans toward motive for murdering her. Those alone lead to reasonable doubt, but his own actions take reasonable out of it. Although, I would prefer no one be convicted on any circumstantial case of any sort, much less murder. However, I remember Hans Reiser's case. I thought he didn't do it. As soon as the jury convicted him, he lead the police to Nina's body buried in the woods.

In this case, there was overwhelming evidence against him and motive. That is why I find it intriguing. I didn't want to believe the totality of it all. I know bad relationships just get worse, so things said or done can look like one thing, but in reality, be another. What got me was his own words about blood everywhere, along with little Ada's. That should not have been if she were in the tub and bathing and drowned, or if she passed out leaning over the tub. That caught my attention and would not let go. Along with all the other pieces.

So when did the word contemporaneously become a part of your vocabulary instead of "at the same time"? :floorlaugh:

cc cleaner is non-invasive and safe. No need to manually do it, and only takes a click. Just let it run on default settings. There are other programs, but they can delete important stuff if you mess with settings, as I have done.

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Click on the download, then use the piriform.com link, as that is the company that makes it.

Otherwise, google which version of windows you have on your laptop, like this:

how to clean cookies and cache in windows 8.1

or:

how to clear cookies and cache in Internet Explorer Version (whatever version, or the name of any browser you may be using)

Follow the manual directions. Daily.

The Arias trial has broaden our vocabulary skills :puke:
That was one of the big words. :floorlaugh:

How about "nay" or "vanilla" or "exclusive" or even ALV's "continuum" (if I heard that word one more time in that trial :okay: )

But...as a dear friend of mine who is a judge always reminds me, in the past that is how most convictions occurred, through circumstantial evidence.

I am so pro Innocence Project.

It would be nice if WS had a big directory for The Innocence Project!!!

Cases should never get that far. Trust is given to the Herders of Cattle, to the happy for happy hour, for the judgmental for a paycheck, and case in an instant, for the attorney on heroin, the attorney that does not want to be one cause he's a daddy lover, for the one that wishes to pick up chicks.

For anyone on WS that needs an attorney. One that has a reputable career told one of his part timer students the basic truth:

"Anyone can be an attorney, they can pass a test. That does not mean they will be good at it, as the City of thousands attorneys should tell you."
