"My sons loved her..." "My" -- not "Our", "loved", not "love"?
Skymom

Right on! The past tense is very telling.

Another thing - if he seldom ever cooked, why would he cook THAT night when they have guests? Just another thing that doesn't make sense.

Actually, if she wasn't feeling good, why would they not postpone having guests at all and ask them to come over another time when she's feeling better? I would do that. If they're good friends they'd surely understand.

This is how I see it:

IF his phone was left at his home and was on, then it would ping as being at home. IF he left it at home and was off, one would wonder why would he do that.

IF he took the phone with him and was on, it may have pinged here and there, at least when he was near a city, depending on towers along his way.

Looking at the map, the area South and West is just mountains! Avalanche warnings are in effect all over.

So, IF he went to Tooele, he could've taken Eisenhower Hwy going West, then South through Highway 36. This is me theorizing, I'm not familiar with the area. But, if he took that way, there's only two or three cities along the way.

There is also another way to go with even less cities and no cell phone coverage the further west you go. I mean it is desolate. All that is out there are ghost towns and the smallest town in Utah, Ophir, population 20ish.

Google map of alternative route from WVC to Simpson Springs area.

To give an idea on how vast and desolate Tooele County can be:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooele_County,_Utah

(snip)
As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 40,735 people, 12,677 households, and 10,128 families residing in the county. The population density was 6 people per square mile (2/km²). There were 13,812 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile

Regarding a special nightgown.. I think you mean the special clothing a Mormon wears, which is not a nightgown, it's undergarments.

Regarding the psychological profile of Josh's.. IMHO... Josh is a known control freak and an emotional abuser. These are the worst kind. Similar to SP and MH. Mark Hacking also being Mormon. The profile of a Mormon male with abusive behavior... Narcissistic Personality Disorder or Malignant Narcissism ie Psychopathy. Seems this type cannot handle being "out of control". They must control every aspect of their lives. They do not have empathy for other people, are incapable of it. They feel completely entitled to their behavior and are a lot of times involved in sexual addictions ie 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 or prostitution. It numbs the ability to see people as anything other than objects. I do not believe that Josh had the money to pay for prostitutes though. He also would hate to see any "joy" in the lives of others around him... Susan. Look at her face. As hard as he has tried to take the joy out of her, she fought back. Got a decent job, was loved by her friends and family, she was "super Molly Mormon" and Josh was totally incompetent by comparison. He owned his wife and children (my boys miss her). If she was threatening to take the boys in the divorce, he would not allow that. These types are rarely brilliant though his downfall will be that he thinks he is invincible. Most likely caught up in the Mormon male story... the man has the priesthood and presides over his family. Some take that to mean, he owns his family like chattel. Susan was not "getting with the program" and was independent and capable. Not like the proper "Mormon wife" that should submit. You can add "Christian wife" there in the example for I mean any submissive, male dominated culture. IMHO, Josh killed his wife and in the back of his mind, it was planned. What wasn't planned is that the family was on to him right away and he did not expect that they would be looking for her right away. He thought he had time Monday to come up with the missing person story. I think they are incredibly poor liars and care very much what other people think of them. I believe LE will have an expert involved in this case that understands how to work a psychopath. You have to feed into their ego. This is how they were able to arrest OJ Simpson. I feel for Susan's family. She was probably so embarrassed and humiliated that she didn't tell her family very much about the abuse. I think she had only recently (September) started telling her church family what was going on in her home. She was starting to get emotional support from them and Josh saw his control falling apart. I think LE will be interviewing her church leadership and close friends and neighbors to get into the head of such an evil human being. The family of Josh's will probably be instrumental (like Mark Hacking) to get him to confess. I can just see it now... them telling him he will be the "hero" if he admits to what happened and they will always "adulate" him for having finally admitted what happened. Sick, sick, sick. I feel so bad that Susan felt she had to hide this ongoing abuse for as long as she did. Being a Utah Mormon means hiding the ugly truth. The pressure to appear to be the perfect, uprighteous Mormon family and hide the truth may have been her downfall. The culture is so demanding to be the perfect family and hide the abuse and mental problems. So sad...

I cast my vote for Susan's "best friend".

hello all, just trying to catch up so if this has already been mentioned, sia! :)

but, yes i agree with lovjac too, but i was afraid to say it that first day:blushing: - but the friend that was there for dinner is also the same friend that gave the glowing testimony to jp's technical abilities on his realtor web page??? and now she is the one that he answered for too? so, if she was the only friend for dinner when sp fell ill could she possibly be involved? prolly not, but it has been rolling around in my mind for the past couple of days since i last read on this thread....if im way off please tell me - i dont want to implicate innocent people!

I should've checked Google Maps... I wonder if he did before his deed.

Of course, he may not have even gone camping at all.

What if he remained in the area in one of the town's vacant homes, and maybe left the kids there while he disposed of the remains.

The generator thing keeps making me think that.

Did he have enough fuel to power it in the woods? Did he bring enough fuel to have the generator running for so long?

There is an article somewhere upthread that states who the woman was that visited the home that night. It was not the same woman who supposedly called him on the phone.

I don't think there was anyone else involved; I think it was only JP.

IMO

I know the weather has been bad, but have you heard of any 'organized searches? with dogs? people?'

Nope. Not a thing, and I watched both Channel 2 (CBS) and 5 (NBC) local news tonight and they mentioned nothing about any sort of searches. We had a pretty bad storm come through today too. Started snowing just after midnight and has been doing it on and off all day.

Thank you all for your generous welcome.

I would also like to add that for every (Utah Mormon) abusive nut out there, there is an additional 100 wonderful, caring, compassionate Utahians that will volunteer their time, energy and money to work this case until they find Susan. That is the strength of that community.

I do not think there was anyone else involved, just Josh. Mormons are a social group. It's not unusual for her friend to have Josh's number. It's also not unusual to have people over for dinner, especially on Sunday. Josh would have discouraged social activity though, as people would start to recognize his abusive patterns. I don't think he liked that Susan was well liked and friendly though. I am all too familiar with Mormon culture and the abusive personality.

I agree, it's an awful way to meet.
