VA - Amy Bradley - missing from cruise ship, Curacao - 1998 #3

I’m not familiar with this case but have browsed a few of the threads. I noted that when Brad returned after the party, the electronic door recorded this, and then again around 5 minutes later when Amy returned from the party. Amy’s father said that between 5:15am and 5:30am he woke up and saw Amy sleeping on the balcony chair with the balcony door closed. He then woke up at 6:00am and she was gone.
That’s only a 30 minute window.
Was the balcony door closed or open when he woke up?
Did he fall back to sleep fully during that 30 minutes and not hear anything?
What was the room plan? Was there a divider between the sleeping areas?
Did the electronic door sensor go off again between 5:30am and 6:00am? Or does it not register if opened from inside the cabin?
How high were the balcony rails on this particular ship?

Yes, but how was it found if it didn't appear on the Affordable Adult Vacations website along with the two other "Jas" photos?
it's been posted on here plenty of times. Here ya go. It was shown on the now deleted Dr. Phil. It's been discussed many many times. I don't know how Dr. Phil got it-- but they removed most traces of the episode.

BBM...FWIW re: balcony rails

42 inches

eta: that is standard for 2025, would it have been different in 1998??? hmmmm.

you can't "fall overboard" on a cruise ship-unless you are a giraffe
Over 400 people since 2009 have managed. Railings were lower then compared to now and often alcohol is a factor, as was potentially the case with AB.

The main question I have is did she leave the cabin after her Dad woke up and went back to sleep during that 30 minute window.
Is there any evidence she left the cabin?
I’m not trying to be silly, but the evidence she left was that she was no longer there when he woke. But I know what you mean. It has to be through the door or off the balcony.

I wish the cabin registered when people left, but I’m almost certain that it only recorded cabin entries, not exits. So no one knows which way she exited. Jmo

I still call BS-I firmly believe-either you were pushed, you jumped-or were an idiot and climbed up and sat on the rail.

There have been other cases of people going overboard from the Rhapsody of the Seas, let alone cruising in general.

There is absolutely nothing to suggest she went overboard. The FBI also didn’t believe she went overboard and then add in her fear of heights and everything else she didn’t go over.

And let's not forget that the ship was not over the open ocean, but in the middle of docking procedures at Curaçao. This means that if she went overboard,
  1. A crew member would likely have seen and/or heard her
  2. There was a better chance they would've found her body due to the shallow water
It doesn't make the overboard theory impossible, of course, but it makes it less likely.

The last two possibilities are in play here. It doesn’t mean that people trip and fall and accidentally launch over a rail. The idea that a white, middle-class young lesbian woman traveling with family was kidnapped, trafficked and killed or hidden forever is certainly not more believable than jumping or misadventure after drinking. Without more evidence, there’s no way to solve this case.

People get raped and killed daily so hardly far fetched.

<modsnip - response to quoted post>

When the FBI also believe foul play il assume they know a lot more than somebody on the internet.

ETA - not forgetting she was petrified of heights and wouldn’t go near the railings.

ETAM - Not forgetting, some of the people who claimed to have seen her went to a federal grand jury and testified, so I doubt the FBI wasted money on such matters if it was as simple as she slipped and fell.

I’m sure we fundamentally disagree about what happened here, but that’s a positive and interesting reason why I like to engage here on WS. We all have our own theories. I hope her family gets answers someday. Not knowing must torment them.

Yes, her poor family must have been through absolute hell over the decades. I guess until somebody is in their position they can never fully understand it.

May I ask what your opinion of the continued FBI involvement in this case is?
