VA - Amy Bradley - missing from cruise ship, Curacao - 1998 #3

It's an interesting question, and I think we can all agree that it's certainly probable that this kind of thing happens in reality: Certain "types" are sought; "role playing" is quite common. Etc. Whether this happened here, who knows, but one of the most singular aspects about this case, and there are many, IMO, is that Amy in particular, seemed to be sought out by some of the employees on the ship. It's something specifically mentioned by the Bradleys -that Amy was being paid singular attention, and that part of the crew (men) wanted to take her off the ship, to Carlos and Charlies on Aruba. They've also said that Amy wasn't having any of it and thought the crew were "creepy" or something to that effect.

There's always an underlying thought of "trafficking" in this case, because of several aspects, and the above is one of them. However, it's a puzzle: Why Amy? Was she simply targeted, for the reasons you suggest? I don't know. She just doesn't seem like your typical target for sex trafficking. She's there with an attentive family, not just her parents, but her brother, too. The original Verfied Insider on this case suggested human trafficking, but for a different reason than simply using Amy for prostitution. I do think the answers lie somewhere in that direction, but I don't have a specific theory. It's possible that Amy simply fell or jumped overboard, but there are so many strange aspects of this case that point to her being targeted and taken off the ship, IMO. I'm not sure we'll ever know, though.
The verified Insider connected all the dots over the years and various forums on many of the areas you mention.

And your assessment of her characteristics and background are spot on!

Does anyone have a link to the America’s Most Wanted episode from back in the day that featured Amy’s story? I spent a bit of time looking at it online but couldn’t find it anywhere.

I can’t find links to the any AMW program, but there is a website called something like “amwfans” which states that AMW aired Amy’s case FIVE times between 1998 and 2003. That’s amazing to me. That’s a lot of publicity.

Sadly, like many people here believe, I think the likelihood of Amy still being alive is pretty small. My heart goes out to her family.

I would like to see that as well. Sadly, unless someone has a recording of it on VHS somewhere, I doubt we'll ever see it. Another program I would like to see regarding Amy is the Dr. Phil episode.

Sorry for the "power posting", but it's my tendency, for better or worse...

For those interested, it seems that James Renner's book on Amy is projected to be out in late 2026. Why does it take so long to write a book, I have no idea. But it is what it is. Hopefully, it's taking so long means that he will have done some serious research and have some new information, or at least can confirm/deny aspects of the case that we've heard before.
Hi there. Just seeing this. To answer your question about the timing of the book, it is the most frustrating aspect of traditional publishing. When I turn in a manuscript, it is anywhere from 15 months to two years before it's released on shelves. Many reasons for this. Legal review. Copy editing. Layout. Marketing, etc. All that is above my pay grade as an author, though. I turned the manuscript into the publisher in March and it is slated for July 2026, which is actually pretty quick, compared to some of my others. I did a ton of research and you'll definitely get a much better sense for who Amy was and the struggles she was having at the time. I was on the Rhapsody for a week and visited Grenada, too. I also spent significant time with the family and her former partners.

Wow! Thanks so much for updating us. While I appreciate hearing what it takes to get a book to shelf, I was a wee-bit disappointed with: "you'll definitely get a much better sense for who Amy was and the struggles she was having at the time". I was hoping for: "you'll definitely get a much better sense for....what happened to Amy". Perhaps it's wishful thinking, as this was so many years ago.

At any rate, kudos to you for the research. I'm sure I'm one of many who can't wait to read the book!
