Identified! VA - Annandale, WhtFem 245UFVA, ~60, 'NO CODE, DNR, No Penicillin', Dec'96

This is the first time I've visited this thread and the first person that came to my mind was Elizabeth Converse, better known as Connie Converse. I don't know Connie's physical measurements as I've not seen them mentioned anywhere, but something about the note initially struck me... the way it was typed and how it seemed to refer to her life as a whole rather than just the last events - such as it not being due to an illness or recent loss.

In the absence of knowing Connie's height, shoe size and etc, here's a little more of what stands out to me...

-Connie was born in 1924 and disappeared by choice in 1974 saying she was going to "start a new life somewhere". She would have been 72 in 1996.

-She was a talented singer/songwriter who also became very interested in the Civil Rights movement, activism and politics. ( reason for the DC area?)

-She enjoyed Monty Python. (UID's tape?)

-She was acquainted with and professionally visiting Gene Deitch who was a friend of Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks. (tape of 2000 Year Old Man?)

-She was supposed to have surgery, a hysterectomy, shortly before she disappeared. It's believed she may have had her surgery after leaving. (UID's scar?)

-She was depressed and an alcoholic who attended AA meetings.

Pics of Connie don't show her hair as red, but do show freckles...maybe she had a red hue? Also, wouldn't the UID's hair most likely be gray and dyed red?

Again, none of this will matter much if Connie was taller and/or etc???
Any thoughts?

Wow, yeah, that all fits. I can't find that she was ever named a missing person, but Porchlight has some articles by her brother that include photos. I pulled one of her pictures and enlarged it, and...damn, I think you're onto something here.

Holy smokes!! Wow, I had never even heard of Connie Converse, but I am on board that she most definitely should be submitted as a possible match for our unknown Annandale lady!! I, too, just checked out some pictures of Connie and her hair looks read to me, but it's also the eyes that caught my attention.

Am I missing anything? Dates seem to match okay. I see the resemblance. With her intellect and talents she could have gotten a job doing any number of things.

I trust someone is going to follow up on this please?

The resemblance is remarkable, the shape of the face and the nose, and she wore glasses. The reconstruction of our UID could be of a woman anywhere from late 50s-early 70s depending on lifestyle, skincare, etc. I have seen women in their 80s who had a younger look than this recon, so I don't think we could rule out Connie Converse based on the estimated age.

Just heard back from the Virginia Northern District Office of the Chief Medical Examiner - this is now being looked into and is also being sent to their investigators.

BUT, if she was familiar with the DC area as suggested, then wouldn't someone around here be like "Oh hey, that's Martha!"?

Hopefully we have a match. Very intriguing story!!

Yes, or maybe she simply applied for one under a different name. SS numbers didn't exist until she was about 12 years old. And it wasn't until 1974 that SS required evidence of identity. If she left in August of 1974, she could have acquired a new one beforehand, during the time she was contemplating leaving. She had pretty much already dropped Elizabeth by then and had taken on her assumed name of Connie. Has anyone started a thread for her? I'm not sure how to begin one with her since she's not listed in namus or other such places like that.
