Thank so much for taking the time out to do this astridxx!!

I don't know if anyone remembers.. but awhile back there was a news story with a clip of the UID at the cemetery. I thought someone took a screen shot... That may help to pin point exactly where she was found.

Astridxx, thanks very much for the photos. What interesting context they provide.

Off topic, but is anyone else a bit creeped out by the term "Babyland?" And the fact that they put it on a cute little metal sign? IDK, it just gives me the creeps. I don't envy the person whose job it is to name sections of a cemetery.

I saw that we are waiting on DNA. I guess now, we just wait patiently? Are they experiencing a backlog? In Reno, where I live, a few years ago we experienced the dreadful murder, a young woman named Brianna Denison. The killer/rapist's DNA was found with her body. Brianna came from a prominent local family, and her relatives and friends were able to raise large amounts of money to deal with the DNA lab's backlog, so that the killer's DNA could be compared to others in the system.

If the lab needs funds to get through their backlog, feel free to let us know. I'm sure a lot of people here would be interested in helping where they can.

I just spoke with the woman handling Judith's case out of NY and she's going to look into our Annandale JD on Monday and get back to me.

PS: she said FFX Co. hadn't contacted them >:[

Hurricane Sandy is no likely slowing things down. NY is a mess right now. That said, following things stabalizing, if you need more of us to help "nudge", I'm sure you'd get volunteers. Let us know. :moo:

Yeah I'm not expecting anything anytime soon -- I think Sandy is right up around Sodus Point today.

Also, I was thinking of leaving a rose at our JD's "gravesite" this December 16th, along with a little note that says "you're not forgotten." If anyone would like to include a note, please let me know.

Speaking of which, did they cremate her? Where are her remains?

They did -- I've read in a new article that she was cremated, no autopsy per her request. She sits on the shelf in the detectives office (not in storage)

Oh wow! That's really quite interesting Astridxx. I will assume it's because the Detective must look at that urn everyday and it reminds him/her that there is work still to be done? I hope that's the reason.

A really remarkable man I know, a retired homicide detective, always kept framed pictures of victims whose cases he was working on. He said he worked on those cases like they were his "family". And he did. A remarkable man. He was featured in a book about an interesting case he worked on. Let's hope this Detective takes after my friend, and never gives up.

Most of the homicide and cold case detectives I've been in contact with have been like that. They might have logistical issues and blind spots, but the vast majority of them really care.

God bless these people. I've seen this with the D.A.s as well. These are very special people who have been given a very important purpose in life. They represent hope and justice

This may be just a shot in the dark, but the whole "baby land" thing...

The "old" cemeteries in my hometown had baby sections. My maternal grandmother lost two infant girls one of which was buried in a wooden toolbox out there. She was stillborn, but they felt she should get as proper of a burial as possible.

It wasn't an uncommon thing at that point to bury a baby without a marker in the baby section. The only way we knew where she was buried was where a certain tree was.

Perhaps this woman had a similar experience except she comes back and she can no longer find the grave? Or someone else has been buried near it?

The medical alert jewelry also interests me. I've rarely seen a DNR one. I've only seen them in home care in case they have a heart attack while alone or something.

I also wonder how she managed to set up the whole sheet, tree, etc without any sort of vehicle nearby?

It's so odd.

She set up after sunset. The mausoleum side she set up on faces away from traffic/the main road. The mausoleum itself it long/big enough to shield her from any angle.

No doubt she had thought this through; but it's still puzzling as to how she arrived.

Is there a bus stop near by within walking distance?
I agree with whoever said she might have had a baby buried there.
I wonder if she had some connection to the town previously.
I still say this is Judith.
Where are those DNA results? I can't believe her daughter isn't aware of this possibility? She would be able to look at the articles that were left behind and most likely know right away. Especially those glasses!

There are two bus-stops within walking distance NOWadays. I don't know how it was in the 90s but Metro/WMATA has most certainly been around since then.

The police back then stated she probably doesn't have a baby buried there b/c it's primarily a minority cemetery. Who knows though. Anything is possible.

I was thinking about other UID suicides and how all of them go to far off locations to commit suicide, as far away as possible from home. She may have had family here once or been in town for a conference, but I wouldn't go any further than that. Though, before I thought she WAS from around here. Now I'm not so sure.

Not sure -- last I heard from FFX was 11/1. Haven't heard back from Sodus Point. I've tried getting in touch w/ daughter via FB but no luck.

If you really want to be romantic and presumptuous you could wonder if maybe she had an affair with someone who was Of that minority.

Very romantic lifetime movie plot where she gets pregnant and then has a stillborn and they both go their separate ways even though they still loved each other.

Speculation, purely on my part :P

I was thinking of our "Christmas Tree Lady" (Judith?) today and praying that we get an answer before this Christmas comes. Wouldn't that be wonderful!

If she had a baby in the cemetery, I can't imagine that she wouldn't have been next to the child, instead of off to the side by the building, which isn't terribly close to the graves.

Or, I could see her wanting to be close, but not close enough to draw..possible connection? Or, she had to go to this location of the cemetary to mitigate the possibility of being seen? It's striking that she had everything so tidied up, right down to the payment and the plastic sheet beneath her. She didn't want to leave a mess. I bet she was immaculate in life. The type to have plastic sofa covers and plastic walkways over the carpet. I wonder if Judith was like that?

That's a really good observation. Someone can change their clothes, dye their hair... But old habits die hard; like being meticulous and prepared.
