Has it been determined WHO gave such a detailed description of these three men?

It's very odd to take the time to write a "randsom note" during the kidnapping. :waitasec: You would think they would have come prepared with a not JUST in case they weren't able to locate a piece of paper and pen in the household.
Patty..you are right on..this case stinks to high heaven..i have a bad feeling about this child...

Today about 12:15 I rode thru the area where the abduction took place. I saw no police activity at the Jamestown housing project. However about 1 block prior to the projects (I believe it was the corner of Queen Ann and Riverland Road), there were 3 or 4 cars surrounding a white older model SUV - it appeared to me to be a Chevy Surburban. It was parked in a driveway about a block from Riverland Road. I was hoping then that they had the supposed people.

BBM

Patty - IMO it was the stepdad because of what was reported earlier

The three suspects were seen hanging around the back of the stepfather's residence even after he had asked them to leave.

thanks Patty - I can hear that....something still isn't ringing true. :(

also, FWIW -- I found a comment - Posted by madabouthis on January 15, 2010 at 2:39 pm - that said (my paraphrase) baby Aveion had been taken by social services because of neglect when he was 15 months old...says mom didn't feed him (altho we heard stepdad on video saying baby has problem with getting his nutrients)....isn't believing the kidnap story either.

:(

<snip>

Richmond-area police were asked to be on the lookout this morning for a 2-year-old boy who was kidnapped last night in Roanoke.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert early today, and shortly before daybreak, Richmond-area police departments were told that a vehicle believed to have been used in the kidnapping may have been spotted in the capital region.

Police said a white, 1990s model Chevrolet Blazer was seen getting off Interstate 295 southbound at the Creighton Road exit in Hanover County.

As the day went on, police in the Richmond area checked out several reports of a vehicle matching that description, including a possible sighting shortly before 10 a.m. on westbound Interstate 64 at the Fifth Street exit to downtown Richmond.

more here (mainly what we already have heard)

I guess we know where this is heading. So many times, the father or step-father is in charge of the kids while the mom is out. And, I'll be damned, don't they go missing! I hate to prejudge and I hope they find this darling little boy, but it is a huge pattern, imo.

I just wish I had a solution.

yes, I work in the field of child abuse. Definitely sounds like a cover-up and poor outcome for this little guy. Someone knows more than they are telling. Why take the time to tie up the 4 year-old and write a randsom note but not take any valuables. Ive seen ransom for drugs but why not the older child? Also, how convenient for mom to come home just as stepdad/paramour wakes up. What about the other young ones in the home where were they?

I've become so cynical lately and I'm trying to keep that in check. My hinky meter is going berserk on this one, though.

Story is on CNN HLN and all over the local news here.

It sounds strange, I must admit.

okay... say that stepdad DID tie up the four year old.... I would think the four year old would have been able to communicate this to LE? (in re: to staging a crime scene)

I agree though that this is a strange one! And rather reminds me of the california case that happened last year (sorry I cannot remember the name of the child). The child was recovered alive and I hope this little one is as well.

Very perplexing case....

Do you mean the little boy who was kidnapped from his parents home by someone claiming to be a CPS worker? The little boy that they then found wandering the streets of a town in Mexico all by himself? All I could think of was that beautiful long curly hair that he had!

I have no proof of this...just a scenario but have to wonder if this has something to do with something illegal...like someone didn't get paid for something and they took the kid in retribution...

We are thinking the same boy... but he was kidnapped by people who broke the door down to the home and tied up the whole family. And of course my memory sucks and I cannot remember his little name!

dang! I just remembered it... Briant Rodriguez... here is a link to his story
http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wo...leads_For_Return,_Police_Issue_Suspect_Sketch

it reminded me of this little guy right away... making it look like a robbery and all...

man.... I cannot say enough how this reminds me of little Briant Rodriquez... and iirc, it was over drugs or something the perps felt they were owed from one member of the family or such...

The only way I could see the stepdad possibly being involved would be if he had somebody hit him and knock him out to stage the scene... but I just don't have a good gut feeling on that (???)

I can see this case having a very similar motive to the Rodriquez case... they asked for a very specific amount of money...
