Another thought, lacking police records in Roanoke City, they might have moved to Roanoke from elsewhere. A lot of people from other counties and states move to Roanoke and other urban areas to take advantage of the public housing and benefits. Not accusing anyone of anything, but it's just a common trend that's known to LE and people who work in public housing.

I'm sorry MB, I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. Sometimes I just blurt what comes to mind, in few words, sometimes with ill effect. I'm not as much a sleuther as most here. Don't have the patience to search through endless records. Just have some past history with this neighborhood and was verbalizing my gut impressions. Most of the time I just lurk and learn. Hoping the best for our missing boy...

I was thinking the same thing. Generally anyone with access to that kind of cash does not qualify for any government assistance, outside of possibly health care.

is it possible the bit about step dad saying they 'have the cash' is what LE wants him to say? Do they still do that anymore? I'd think LE would still be pretty much presuming this to be a kidnapping, hoping the kidnappers were watching the media.

I just hope he doesn't end up like all the others that *go missing* while in a step parent, boyfriend, girlfriends care... it's just too sickening.

I keep wondering how long stepdad was unconscious...the mom came home to find him coming to, but while he was 'out', I guess the perps had time to ransack the apartment/duplex, write a ransom note & bind & gag a 4yr old girl...but not a grown man...so the perps were moving lightning quick & very confident that stepdad was not going to gain consciousness while they did their home invasion/kidnapping?

If stepdad was faking being knocked out, why are they saying he was coming to when mom got home?

I wish we knew where mom works. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that stepdad woke up just as she got home.

Lotsa 'hmmms' for me on this one.

not if he's only worried about saving his own butt! He could be selfish or too worried about retribution from the perps. I wouldn't put nothing past nobody in this world..

What time did mom get home? Did step-dad notice about what time it was when he answered the door?

Where the eff is all this money coming from? How about "Uncle Chris"? What's his deal? Where does he really fit in all of this?

There are definitely some outstanding questions in this case. I want to know exactly when Aveion was last seen by someone other than a family member.

At this point, I am leaning towards believeing the story. The step-dad had some odd mannerisms when in front of the camera but his voice was strong and there was something about the way he said "if you have him, keep him warm" that made me feel like he was being truthful.

Also, I can see how this family could have become mixed up in this mess. I don't think it is all that uncommon really to go after a family member if you can't get to the person you really want.

But.... my hinky meter is on yellow/orange alert. Some things are very odd... tying up the 4-year old, the detailed descriptions, timing of coming to, etc. We need some more answers.

Praying that this little one is returned home ASAP and safely.

Aveion’s Uncle, Chris Ward, says a note was left behind written on the back of a hospital statement, demanding $10,000.
It had Chris’s name on it, “On the other side of the note it said ‘Nothing personal it is just business. We’ll contact you.“

Thursday's reported violent abduction of Southeast Roanoke toddler Aveion M. Lewis received national media attention on Friday as police and FBI agents continued searching for him.
He was home with his stepfather, Brandon Lockett, and three siblings when a knock came from the back door of their duplex in Jamestown Place, Lockett said Friday.
As soon as Lockett opened the door, he was knocked unconscious, he said.
"All I felt was just a bam," he said. He said he didn't know what he was hit with.
Lockett, who had a cut on his lip and evident swelling on his face Friday morning, said he woke up in the living room just as his wife, Morgan Lockett, returned home.
They found their 4-year-old girl gagged and bound in a bedroom. Two other children, a 2-year-old girl and an 11-month-old boy, were not harmed.

She is particularly worried about her son's health because he was born premature and has digestive problems. As a result, he doesn't have a lot of fat on his body, and has to be kept warm or his body temperature drops quickly, the family said.

through the back area into a nearby shopping center.

I don't know if I can add to your map or not (or how to do it, for that matter!). The large building to the left is Food Lion. The step-dad mentions it in the video, and when I use street level viewing on your map, there's a sign on the other side of the building (in other words, the back of Food Lion faces his house). Also on the map, they labeled the same entrance road as Express Check Advance. I don't know that it's still there ... just going by the map.
