The front of the units have porches and siding, the back are brick (see the photos in this link):

http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/233222

Thank you for the clarification, those are the units I initially believed to be the family residence. I didn't realize the backs were so different in appearance than the fronts. Which leads me to wonder, since the style in the above link were not included in the link you provided earlier, are they or are they not HUD homes? The reason I ask, is if they are not, I want to search further on real estate info......

further clarification. What I would really like to do, is determine if the unit next to theirs is currently vacant or not. I thought this Aveions family lived in an end unit... next to a parking lot, thus they would have one neighor to the left of looking directly at their front door. If they are individually owned and not part of HUD housing, it is likely we might find a rental add out there somewhere.......... or the property owners info who may be willing to confirm with us whether the unit is vacant or not, (without providing the current tenants private info..... ) off to do some more searching.

I also think that trashing an apartment and overturning a couch (where Aveion and either one or two of the other children happened to be seated upon..) would make a substantial amount of noise and could not go unnoticed. And if all of this was going on.. babies would be crying.. there would be yelling and slamming and banging.. it's all just too wierd for this to have gone unnoticed.

And IIRC, wasn't the step father dozing on a couch before answering the knock at the back door? (And if there's already been a problem with some goons in your back yard.. why would you then answer a knock at the BACK DOOR without being suspicious of who was there?)

VaGal

Welcome! Can you give us any insight to non-resident rules for these housing units. I know you said some things were not enforced, but can you give us any clarification as to what the rules are supposed to be?

Thanks!

At the bottom of this web page click on: search/query

Top of next page click: street name

Next page: type in King Charles - nothing else

Next page will show the highlighted area of King Charles on the map on the left hand side of the screen you will see only 2 entries for the entire length of King Charles and it states that the Roanoke Revedelopment and Housing Authority own everything on King Charles.

None of these units are owned by anyone other than RRHA.

Other similar housing units in various parts of the city are the same - Landsdowne and Lincoln Terrace just to name a couple. There are 8 housing areas in Roanoke City (not county)

I think there may be a little misconception with the Roanoke Valley with those that do not live here or know about the area.

What encompasses the Roanoke Valley? Roanoke City, Roanoke County, the Town of Vinton and Salem.

Each one of these places I just named are completely independent. They all have different governments, Mayors, Boards of Supervisors, police depts., fire depts., etc.

Roanoke County surrounds Roanoke City, Vinton & Salem.

Ok I am confused. In this link, for King Charles, only two property tax id numbers come up. One is for address or building number 1533, the other is for address or building number 2004. Neither of which are Aveions house number. Now I know that as a building, an apartment building with multiple units would only have one real estate tax bill and still have one legal description.... A multiple unit property that has been divided into 'condo's( owner occupied or not) would have different tax id numbers so lets say property 2004 could have units A through F giving each a different legal description and each (6 in the example) a different PIN. Why only these two addresses if Aveions is clearly a different address on that same street? Sorry..... my realtor brain is kicking in here.

I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you. All I can tell you is what I know and I know that this entire area is owned by RRHA. There is other housing in the city that is called section 8 and some of that is owned by other than RRHA.

The units that Aveion's family reside in are called Jamestown Place.

ETA: All of the units on Pike, King Charles & Queen Anne are in Jamestown Place.

As much as I want to believe this kidnapping is real...something in my gut keeps over ruling that belief. Nah... I'm still of the opinion that something else entirely took place.

Maybe something accidentally happened to Aveion and someone didn't believe that the story would be believed? And an 'elaborate' cover-up was planned.

Waaay too elaborate a cover-up. This is like the thing you hear about compulsive liars, where the more specific the story is, the more likely it is to be a lie. You know, the KISS theory (Keep It Simple, Stupid) really should have applied to this cover-up ... now step-dad has tied himself into so many details that are being picked apart!

According to HLN, a spokesperson from LE told one of the reporters that they have been talking to the parents, but mom and stepdad have not exactly been "forthcoming" with info. So they have been stepping back and taking a closer look at things.

They wanted to get more info from CPS, but they are closed today. LE not telling any of that info.

After 150+ tips, still no sign of missing Roanoke toddler Aveion Lewis

For the family of Aveion Lewis, the weekend brought minimal answers.

“The only thing we know for a fact right now is that my nephew is missing,“ said Chris Ward, Aveion’s Uncle.

Ward says he hasn’t heard a thing from the alleged kidnappers, who he says asked for $10,000 in a ransom note. “There hasn’t been any contact from anybody.“

[snip]

“It is OK to give up what you know. They’re not worried about whose doing what in the neighborhood. They are worried about that little boy.“

Also at same link, older update:

Today (Monday), investigators went back to the Jamestown Place apartments. Officers, State Police troopers, and agents from the FBI have also conducted multiple ground and air searches using handheld heat detectors.

Investigators also say they have asked people living in and around the Jamestown Place apartments to consent to a search of their apartments, as well as to fill out questionnaires. Police say they’ve received an overwhelming response.

Yes, that's the other thing I said way back earlier in this thread...too many details...way too much.

You have man who is supposed to be severely injured, who should have immediately been taken to a hospital for this alleged severe blow he received. But yet he's up walking and talking...doesn't seem to be in physical pain and is giving great detail about 3 guys...

Hinky dinky doo doo... something stinks in Roanoke and it's not the sewage treatment plant just down from Jamestown Place...

As days pass, Ward says the situation is getting more dire for Aveion. “He needs to eat. He has health issues.“

The Roanoke Police Department says it is following up on more than 150 tips or leads it received throughout Virginia and outside of the state. Aveion’s family hopes the neighborhood opens up as much as possible.

“It is OK to give up what you know. They’re not worried about whose doing what in the neighborhood. They are worried about that little boy.“

Perhaps the police aren't buying his story either.

Thank you. No worries, it is just my overly neurotic brain sometimes when combing through details. I wasn't questioning your knowledge of the area and info, just sorting it out in my head and kind of thinking about questions which might arise for myself having different info, but not all that big of a deal. It could be a simple data entry thing, and I will trust that FHA or all of that area is either HUD owned or appv'd for section 8 housing. If I had found a private owner with an approval to rent to section 8 tenants perhaps that would have been an avenue to explore.. but not that important imo....

thanks! :blowkiss:

Do you have a link to the HLN story? I can't find it on a search of their site. Thanks :)

Nope. Sorry. It wasn't an article or anything. I was just watching Prime News with Mike Galanos and he was talking about it with a guest.

BBM and respectfully snipped for space. Apparently that is a continued quote from Chris Ward, the childs uncle. Further in the article linked above by Idaho' it reads: 'The brother of Aveion’s mother told WSLS that the ransom note was written on a piece of paper from inside the home, and that paper was a medical bill from Carilion'. I'm assuming, this 'brother of Aveion's mother and Uncle Chris are one in the same. Can anyone verify that? When I asked earlier if this was a maternal or paternal uncle of little Aveion, I thought, how convenient, I wonder if dad is blaming moms brother as part of his charade. Divert his wifes attention off him as he was the man in the house responsible for watching those children and divert it to her brother (and away from him or his family). (Hinky meter up another notch.) My gut tells me uncle Chris is being too cooperative with police to have any knowledge he has not shared with LE. I don't believe uncle Chris would be making this statement:
“It is OK to give up what you know. They’re not worried about whose doing what in the neighborhood. They are worried about that little boy.“
if he had anything to hide.

If I were LE, I would be grilling step dad for hours and seperately from mom....

Sadly, I don't see a happy ending to this and I think whatever happened was a result of step dad.

There was some question earlier regarding Aveions step fathers year of birth. The following is from integrascan.com I'm leaving the address in as it was already made public in the media. (One of the earlier links in this thread.)

here is the integrascan info:

BRANDON LOCKETT AKA: LOCKETT, BRANDON R Year Of Birth: 1985 (24)
Address City State Zip 2162 KING CHARLES AVE SE ROANOKE VA 24014

Birth year is 1985, so he just turned 24. Will be 25 later this year.
