There was some question earlier regarding Aveions step fathers year of birth. The following is from integrascan.com I'm leaving the address in as it was already made public in the media. (One of the earlier links in this thread.)

here is the integrascan info:

BRANDON LOCKETT AKA: LOCKETT, BRANDON R Year Of Birth: 1985 (24)
Address City State Zip 2162 KING CHARLES AVE SE ROANOKE VA 24014

Birth year is 1985, so he just turned 24. Will be 25 later this year.

That's it then,I could only find he's 24 on background search, that's pretty much confirming it.

The Uncle Chris is firefighter and in the military, his bestfriend on FB asked if everyone would pray for the Ward(mother's side) and Lewis(real father's side) families.Maybe Chris isn't exactly a fan of the stepfather.I'm sure he's told LE what he knows.Possibly why someone might want to discredit him in a note,so what he would tell might be questioned.I really doubt it is,I'm sure it's being carefully note what he is saying.

Yep,his FB also said he's military,he has a photo with him and another soldier in uniform.

I read this over on the Jose Manuel Martinez Salcido thread, and thought it sounded like the same scenario. Luckily, they found that little boy!

<respectfully snipped>
Just a warning, friends- from my 600 yt friends and I. This is happening a lot in Mexico, and is moving up here. Crooks learn about how to get cash money from other crooks thru the grapevine. The home inv. and child kidnap affect even the poorer people now, and if the economy doesn't get better, it will spread ! This could not be avoided, as it was planned by the perps. Just watch out

If you see someone next to your house, you tell them to leave, then they're hanging across the street, are you going to open your back door for them?If someone knocks on your back door you're going to see who it is first. If he opened the door and was knocked out, when did he hear one of them be called Tony?Clothes thrown on kitchen table, sounds like laundry basket was emptied on table, couch upside down,it was reported at first the babies were on it.Sounds staged and maybe something else happened, but made to look like a different scenario than what it was. It's disturbing HLN reported today, parents aren't being totally cooperative with LE,not a good sign.

It's possible they were going to the back door for something else and he never expected this to happen. But,how would they know her brother's name to put on the note?

Questions, questions, so many questions.

What made the stepdad take note of the three men in the grocery store parking lot? He has an amazing eye for detail. Did he think he might be called to describe them later? If the guys were threatening him why didn't he inform the police? Does nobody recognize them? Does everybody recognize them but too scared to tell? Does the police already know who he's talking about? If they were planning to kidnap a child later in the day, why did they hang out nearby in plain sight and why did Tony introduce himself to the stepdad? It seems kinda stupid to me, if it was his real name anyway.

What time did the abductors come in? What time did the mother come home? When did the stepdad wake up? Why are there different reports? Is it a case of wacky reporting or is this story evolving as police points out the inconsistencies? If he was out cold for a long time, is he severely injured? How did he quickly recover to race upstairs as soon as the wife came home? Why wasn't he bound like the child was? Has he been medically checked? If he was out cold for just a short bit, what did he do the rest of the time? What was he doing before the abductors came? What were the kids doing? Have we heard anything at all about their activities before BAM, he was struck unconscious and that's all he knows? Where did the BAM sound come from that he heard? HGe appears to have a couple different sequences for it too: BAM and then brace for impact, or BAM as describing himself being hit.

How soon did the mom and stepdad call the police after she came? Why didn't the mom call 911 right away when she came home and found the house ransacked and her husband beaten and unconscious? It appears she waited for him to wake up, then they looked for the children together and called the police together.

What's going on with the uncle? What's the deal with the ransom note? Why was Aveion targeted? Why choose an unhealthy, difficult to care for toddler? Was there no easier way?

I don't know. Likely we're not being told everything the police knows and that's why some of it might seem confusing but I share the general feeling that something is off with this story. Why can't they narrow down the time that the kidnappers got Aveion? The rest of the story hangs on that.

I'm with the poster who said the use of the word charade is disturbing (sorry, I've forgotten your nick). This word would make sense from his perspective if some of all of the stepdad's story is made up but if their child has really been kidnapped and they're besides themselves with worry it'd be the real thing for him, the scary sort of reality .

Shoot yeah, these are apts, three guys are ransacking a house and run out with a baby and noone sees anything,in the day?If they went through the trouble of tying up a little girl, why wouldn't they at least tie the stepfather's hands? And where was the other baby put if Aveion was on the couch with him and the couch was put upside down? Why Aveion, who is not the stepfather's and why her brother's name?Has anyone seen the father talk publicly to see what he has to say?

It's possible they were going to the back door for something else and he never expected this to happen. But,how would they know her brother's name to put on the note?

I guess if it's true that her brother owes somebody a lot of money and the abductors came because of that they'd know his name by default. It might not have been their intention to take a child but something went wrong and they had to revert to plan B. Maybe the child got hurt and they panicked? (Although I'm not sure how they would be worse off being suspected of hurting a child compared to being suspected of child kidnapping.)

If the brother's name was just a decoy and they were there for some other reason, say, looking for drugs or some other thing that was valuable for them, the abductors might have found the name with some previous research. It was not too difficult for WSers to find the myspaces or they might know because of previous acquaintance or friends of friends of friends. (However, if they were looking for drugs or money etc. I'm not sure why they'd bother with a decoy and why they took the child. It happens often enough without.)

Otherwise if they were just random homebreakers they might have found out her brother's name while ransacking the apartment. There may have been photos, postcards or something else with his name (Although, quite a coincidence if it turned out that they picked his name out at random and picked 10.000 dollars at random and if he just happened to owe someone that same sum. Does he? Was it ever confirmed?)

The two different handwritings offer the possibility that the ransom note might have been a note intended for some other purpose, and seemed handy for the perps. Maybe the uncle's name was just there because the previous note was for him, and then they (whoever) added the ransom demand in another handwriting. Again, I've no idea why they'd do it. Maybe to get two handwritings to look like multiple perps? Because the original note is traceable to somebody they want to frame for the crime? Was it confirmed that the paper the note is written on belongs to the Lockett home?

I'd like to know if there is some issue going on between the stepdad (and the mom?) and the uncle. Could the stepdad have thought that the wife's brother ought to give him some money and devised this plot to appeal to his pity and extort it as ransom money?

Just throwing some things out there. Not really sure that anything works.

I like your thoughts Donjeta, you think of alot of interesting things.I didn't know there were two different handwritings on that note.

I wanted to let any locals to Roanoke,Va aware that the Ward family have set up a search and prayer for Saturday Jan. 23rd, 2010 at 12. A search and prayer at James Town Place in Roanoke.Could everyone Pass it on please? The details are at this link...

Unfortunately.. I'm a little more inclined to go along with the Uncle in this case...

1st.. he's in the military.. unless he's been dishonorably discharged (which there is nothing stating that he has...) He's a hero.
2nd.. He's a firefighter.. another hero..

If this man thinks there's something strange going on.. and doesn't believe the whole story.. then neither do I. And now the parents aren't cooperating fully with the police? WTF is up with that? At first it was.. oh my baby.. where's my little Aveion.. and now it's silence.. It just all doesn't add up... and after reading comments on many news sites.. MANY other people don't seem to think it does either....

Why wouldn't the step-father stare straight into the camera during his interview?? He stared down at the ground the whole time except for when he was speaking about Aveion's medical condition.. the only possibly true part of his whole story! :banghead:

ETA: I don't know if it's been reported yet but Aveion is on the AMW site.. Home Invasion Suspects Kidnap Child

Noticed this on fb announcement:
Date and Time of Abduction: Jan 14, 2010 05:00 PM

So stepdad was out cold for over an hour and a half?!
Just makes the scenario even more unlikely. IMO

About the two handwritings on the note: this is from the uncle, Chris, who said there were two handwritings on the note, which was on the back of a hospital bill/statement.

Respectfully snipped

State Police say a note requesting money was left behind. Aveion’s mother told WSLS last Friday that the note demanded $10,000. The brother of Aveion’s mother told WSLS that the ransom note was written on a piece of paper from inside the home, and that paper was a medical bill from Carilion.

I'm still looking for the link for the report of the 2 different hand writings. As soon as I find it I will post

Aveion’s Uncle, Chris Ward, says a note was left behind written on the back of a hospital statement, demanding $10,000.
It had Chris’s name on it, “On the other side of the note it said ‘Nothing personal it is just business. We’ll contact you.“

Friday morning Police issued an Amber Alert for Aveion, looking for a white early 1990’s SUV.

Ward still, however, thinks there are parts to the story that don’t add up.

“I find it hard to believe they tied my neice up, took my nephew, and still had time to write a note with two different hand-writings and get out with nobody seeing them.“

I know there are alot of Lewis's but 2 weeks ago this happened http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2010/012010/01072010/519360
Its a jump. If his story is believed (unlikey) would this motivate someone? Could there be a connection to this Lewis and the other Lewis? Can we sleuth it? If there isnt at least we will know.

IMO, this is probably a bit of a jump. Fredericksburg is about a 3.5 hour drive from Roanoke and the above perp is over 40. Closer to being a possible age for Aveions grandfather than dad....

jmo.

Roanoke police expand search for missing 2-year-old boy

Roanoke police are today expanding the ground search for missing Aveion M. Lewis, a police spokeswoman said.

[snip]

Police have canvassed the Southeast Roanoke neighborhood where the boy's family lives and held a traffic checkpoint. Today, officers will search a larger area near where Aveion went missing.

Well, actually, you never know,a good scenario,a relative was suppose to have dropped to another relative,he didn't because he got caught. But,dealers sent someone to get the drugs, they weren't delivered,so I'll take your relative's child till you deliver what you owe me.The Mexican drug cartel is a whole different ballgame and do kidnappings,as someone mentioned last night above. Not too far fetched, you're dealing with the last name, same state and just a couple of weeks before. This more than likely isn't the scenario, but hey, anything is possible.Have they given a first name on Dad?I haven't seen it anywhere yet.How did the mother meet the stepfather, were stepfather and father acquaintances before?

Do you mean first name on bio dad? We don't know that he is even involved in this childs life... at least I got that impression when the child went to foster care as opposed to living with his bio dad instead of bio mom when the failure to thrive issue was discussed.

jmo though.... and you could be right, in todays day and age, despite the common last name and the distance, families don't always stay close to the areas they were raised, or near parents.

BBM. Do you take this to read LE still has some belief the child was abducted vs. the kidnapping being staged? or would you think they are looking for evidence that Aveion might have been in a vehicle while he was no longer with us?

I am still praying this child is ok, but I have honestly given up hope of finding him alive. Sad to say...........
