I would hope our police / DA has engaged the services of a true expert to talk to the 4 year old. Not to disparage our LE here, I would want to see them import someone from a larger city who (sadly) would have experience in this sort of thing. I'm sure it would take a lot to get that little girl to feel safe after living in such a toxic, abusive environment but I really believe that is where they are most likely to get a real picture of what went on in that house. (I can't call it a 'home')

The ONLY consolation I have in all of this is knowing that, for at least a year, little Aveion knew what it was like to live in a normal home with people who cared for him and grew to love him. Those photos from his time in foster care are precious beyond words. I pray that he at least kept those memories in his heart for the short time he had after being returned to those monsters. It's too late for him now, but I hope to God those other children are soon removed so they too will have a chance to know love and peace in their lives.

I guess if I'm going to be a monster, I may as well go all in.

After reading articles that mentioned donations being collected for the other children, my first (and only) thought was "HELL NO!"

Those kids are still with ML, all of them living with her mother. I'll be damned if I give anything that I know for damned certain is going to end up in HER pocket rather than providing for the children. If they were to set up a fund for the kids' use ONLY, that ML or her family couldn't touch, administered by someone NOT in the family and not connected to them in any way (a lawyer or bank, for example), then yeah. Maybe a college/emergency fund, or whatever. I'd have no problem giving what I could. But other than something like that? No way.

I would give to the brother in law who was originally named.. Ive said before that I consider this man a hero and it was he who spoke up and said "No! This is not right!"

(which I first stated my opinion on the uncle here... Thread #1 Post 310 )

  • #324
With the children? If that were the case, I'm sure we would have heard about it...

And I bet LE is keeping close tabs on her.. if not, I'm going to print out both of the threads here and fax them demanding to know why they aren't looking at her with the same scope that we all are..

I (hope) they are playing this all close to their vest, getting all their ducks in a row. That the DA withdrew the upcoming charges and is content to wait for all the forensics on the body, etc., tells me they are doing just that. While it would go a long way to putting BL away for good, the thought that they are striking a deal with ML makes me ill. But that may well be what's happening.

I bet if that were the case there will be many people who are outraged at this...

I would tend to agree with you except he has steadfastly defended ML. Forget for a moment anything she may have had to do with Aveion's murder... remember she nearly killed him before. 15 months and 8 pounds? And he doesn't think she would be capable of harming him now? Really?

True, but they will often use this to go after the bigger fish. I'm hoping they find enough evidence that they don't need her to prosecute BL, then that would leave them open to get her as well.

He has defended her? Since Aveion has been discovered? (I'm only asking this, because as family, we always want to think the best of people until we get something that changes our minds.... It's painfully obvious that Aveion was gone much longer than what was originally reported, and maybe he's changed his tune....) But if he has continued to support her.. then that might change my view...

Well like I said, what should have changed his mind is that she nearly starved the child to death. But I'll google; I know he defended her before the body was found. I think I read or heard an interview since then. I'll check and link if I find it.

Yeah - CW made some kind of comment about people thinking ML is a monster when she's not... I don't remember the exact quote.

  • #331
Alright well then... I retract my previous statement.. I wouldn't give anything to any of them.. Since there is no way to know for certain the children would get it.

ETA:... I'll reserve judgment on this until I can find something from Chris Ward since the discovery of Aveion

I can't find it; some of the articles have updates posted from the start of all this. I was mixed up. I don't see where he's said anything about his sister since they found the body.

BTW, is it just a shadow or is that a bruise on the left side of his head? At 0:23 in this video:

Well he did defend her after BL was arrested, but I retract what I said above; I can't find where he's said anything since the body was found.

Aveion's uncle, Chris Ward, says Aveion's mother is staying with her family. She has not been charged.

Ward says he was never a fan of her sister's husband.

"I didn't even come to the wedding... but I did try to welcome him into the family," says Ward.

As for his sister, Ward says he wants people to know she was not a bad person.

"My sister's not a monster and she definitely didn't play a role in her own son's death, if that's what people are thinking," says Ward. "It's like a bad dream right now for her."

That article is dated the 24th.. Before Aveion was located...

No offense to you or anyone else here, but that's the best post I've read since joining this forum.

No offense taken, I agree with you. One of the best posts I've read since joining this forum a few years ago.

In Chris Wards defense, (and I had his relationship to Morgan confused, I thought he was Cara's husband, but now I see they are both brother and sister of Morgan- and not each others spouse as I thought) it is likely he made these statements defending her because he saw the efforts she made before the state returned legal custody of Aveion to his sister. I think it would be unfair of us to presume he could have determined this outcome in the few, less than 4, short months Aveion was back with his mother. I think, and respect, as her brother he will wait for the facts to come out before making judgements based on speculation.........

Lastly, even if anything was donated to him in the childrens names, if it were done in the childrens names- such as a bank account set up for the children or account set up to get the children what they need - legally Morgan could fight for control over it because she, as we know, STILL HAS legal guardianship over those kids, either she does or her mother does and I simply don't trust either Morgan or her mother to make the decision to put the childrens best interests first while being able to seperate that from Morgan. I would however donate to a funeral home who would have a fund set up to pay for a proper burial (casket, headstone, burial plot, funeral arrangements etc. for this child. )

Can we please confirm the trash pick up date for Jamestown residents. MBLover posted this area's trash pick up is Tuesday, however according to the map Calliope posted the north south divider is the main railroad tracks.

The railroad tracks at google are marked by a gray line when zoomed out and then grey and white boxes when zoomed closer.
I've studied this map for the last 20 minutes and it looks to me like Aveions address is clearly
SOUTH of the tracks and south of the river.
East of 581/220 he tracks run only NORTH of the river

ETA: No where do I see any railroad tracks- even the extension lines on the google map running south of Aveions address giving that address a 'north of' the RR tracks for a Tuesday pick up.

Sorry to quote myself, but ammending the time line based on the above refuse pick up dates according to the city of Roanoke Map. Changes below made in purple.

Well there we have it.

Week of January 10th 2009:

Monday January 11th:

Tuesday January 12th:

Wednesday January 13th:
Trash pick up for Jamestown Residents (Aveion was later found in trash from this dates pickup)

Brandon Lockett shows neighbor strange 'anonymous' call as part of staging phony abduction.
Thursday January 14th: Aveion reported abducted by Morgan Lockett.

Friday January 15th

Saturday January 16th: LE sorts/seperates trash at landfill from Jamestown area:

*** Brandon Lockett taken into custody Tuesday January 19th.
****Aveions remains found Wednesday January 27th.

So where did Morgan Lockett think her son was between Wednesday January 13ths trash pick up, and Thursday January 14th when SHE called LE to report him abducted? CLEARLY Morgan had to know, unless she has some alibi that she was out of town on those days,**rolls eyes**and I highly doubt that! Certainly she was at work <snip Tuesday>, Wednesday and Thursday.

How can LE NOT charge her? The timeline is slapping them in the face! There is NO WAY she didn't know. Her son was gone at least 1.5-2 days prior to her reporting him missing! :furious: :banghead: :furious: :banghead: :furious:

Looks like it took Morgan AND Brandon two days to concoct their story about the fake abduction. Which makes sense with as many details as numnuts Brandon came up with. Clearly he didn't come up with those details off the top of his head. :furious: :furious: :furious:

What did Morgan tell Aveions siblings when they asked mommy where Aveion was? :furious: :furious: :furious:
How could she lie to LE and NOT do everything she could to cooperate? NIETHER ONE OF THEM was honest with the investigation. There is no excuse for Morgans behavior. NONE AT ALL once Brandon was locked up and she STILL didn't offer any additional information that we knew of, instead she played the victim. :furious: :furious: :furious:

Brandon was already locked up for 8 days when Aveion was found. Morgan had 8 damn days to come forward with information and she didn't. :furious:- there isn't one of these big enough to express how much I despise Morgan Lockett!
