Nothing (that I have seen anyway) has been mentioned about a job Cory has. Does he work? I know he's a veteran. Does he get income?
4 kids in the house, ages 5 and under. Did he leave them at home when he went out? How were they cared for? Was there a sitter?
Maybe the neglect has partly to do with leaving them alone? If so, that's 4 counts right there.

No idea if this is the case or not, but if he’s Service Connected for any injuries or health conditions sustained while active duty, he could receive monthly compensation for that. Depending on the level of service connection, it could be an amount that’s sustainable to live off of

eta: or it could not be enough, yet that’s what they were living off of

This is very concerning. I wonder what kind of evidence they collected?

An absence of evidence that Codi was at home for the last several weeks could be very telling. I'll bet they took dirty laundry and trash to see if there was any of his DNA on it. There will be plenty of hand and fingerprints on doors, knobs, remote controls, and electronic devices, but if Codi has been gone for a while, his prints will be all covered up by everyone else who uses those items daly. MOO

It could be as simple as there is no bed for Codi or no toothbrush.

I would think he would have retirement pay. Also medical benefits. I don't know COL in Virginia, but I think his retirement should handle at least the bare necessities.

What is considered neglect? Did someone report him or did they find something today in the second search of his home?

yup.
That's why it's so important to know when the last person outside the family saw our cute guy Codi.
My heart is still breaking.

Virginia statute on child neglect.

A. Any parent, guardian, or other person responsible for the care of a child under the age of 18 who by willful act or willful omission or refusal to provide any necessary care for the child's health causes or permits serious injury to the life or health of such child is guilty of a Class 4 felony. For purposes of this subsection, "serious injury" includes but is not limited to (i) disfigurement, (ii) a fracture, (iii) a severe burn or laceration, (iv) mutilation, (v) maiming, (vi) forced ingestion of dangerous substances, and (vii) life-threatening internal injuries.

B. 1. Any parent, guardian, or other person responsible for the care of a child under the age of 18 whose willful act or omission in the care of such child was so gross, wanton, and culpable as to show a reckless disregard for human life is guilty of a Class 6 felony.

I have no idea what the charges of neglect constitute. He has been arrested and charged with 7 counts of child neglect.

I missed that the 4 kids were age 5 and under? Can you give me a hint where I can read that? No clue how I missed that. Thanks

I watched the live video in which the private reporter Rhoda spoke to Cory's sister, as well as with the lawyer the sister retained for her brother, and who was not permitted to meet with Cory. On a few occasions when asked about the other kids, she told the reporter there were three siblings ages 2, 4 and 5. Four kids in total.
video is in post #391, pg 20

Aunt of missing Hampton boy says she thinks he is 'alive and well' (wtkr.com)
[...]

"Officers on the street are doing their searches at the exact same time investigators are doing their tactics and techniques, like talking to family, friends, local hospitals, police agencies, social services," said Richard James, retired Norfolk Police officer and detective.

On Thursday afternoon, News 3 was at the scene with Codi's aunt. She is Cory's sister and told us, "There's nothing I can say at this point. We retained counsel if you want direct questions to him."

When asked about her brother's innocence, she said there was nothing she could say about that this point.

"I think Codi is alive and well. We just need to find him."

When asked the date of the last time she saw Codi, his aunt said, "That is irrelevant," adding, "If I knew where he was, I would have found him by now, so I don't know. Why would I not think he is alive? Why would anyone rule out fact he is alive?"

Butler said the rest of her family will be arriving in Hampton Thursday morning from Washington D.C. to aid in the search.

^^^ I hope this woman doesn't try to turn this into a three-ring circus. She tells the reporter she doesn't have anything to say and then continues to blather... She's now spoken with how many news outlets?:oops:

This is so frustrating because that’s the most important information she could share. Would best help investigators, would best help Codi, and could get people to leave her alone entirely. This just doesn’t look good.

Just looked up the moon the night of the 31st. It was a new moon on Feb 1st. Complete darkness. Would anything be seen on any cameras unless they were night vision or had artificial lights??? Has LE talked about any camera footage that night?
