I think it's quite clear here... he was accused of abusing the baby.
I'm guessing the mother made that accusation.
They may have been married and living together but I don't think they would have been for very long.

There was a warrant issued for him because of the abuse.
There were clearly factors leading up to this murder.

Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis said interrogation of the suspect, Cory&#8217;s father, Howard Samuel Cole, tipped off officials to the location to search, which began around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Teams only had to traverse about a mile of territory before locating the body, in a wooded area, according to police. A search dog and ATVs were used in the search.

Authorities received a report Wednesday accusing the father of having abused his son Sunday. A felony warrant was obtained for Howard Cole and a search for him and the infant ensued.
Police searched Cole&#8217;s residence on Crestline Drive Wednesday night.
Cole also is awaiting trial in Pulaski County Circuit Court on a charge of grand theft auto stemming from a September incident. He was indicted by the January grand jury and is scheduled to appear in court February 21 for setting of the court date.
Last April, he was listed in Pulaski Police Department&#8217;s Most Wanted for a third offense petit larceny charge. At that time, his last known address was listed as 123 Crestline Drive.

The man charged with child abuse in the case, Howard Cole, has had issues with the law, not only in the New River Valley, but in North Carolina as well.

Cole was indicted in both Wythe and Pulaski Counties earlier this month in connection to the crime spree.

5-month old Cory Cole's body was found by police in Pulaski County. His father was arrested earlier in the day on charges of child abuse.

Extremely interesting comments under the article that states "Technicians are still at the scene where an infant was found dead yesterday in Pulaski County. The police chief tells WDBJ7 that they believe the suspect is in custody and there is "no serial killer out on the loose."

Either lost to death, or to Social Services IMO...there's a photo of another baby boy, but no recent photos. IMO!

The groups were for survivors, children that had survived. That most likely means that one of her children was shaken but is alive. She however was definitely a victim of domestic violence. He has a photo of what he did to her face, and even states that he did it.

What I can't understand, well there's lots I can't understand, but anyway, one of the things I can't understand.... someone reported Cole had been abused Sunday, but they didn't report that until WEDNESDAY!!! Why wait so long??? When I witnessed a child being abused, I stayed with the child, phoned 911 immediately, and was ready to knock some sense into a dayum sperm donor! He is VERY lucky he was at a neighbor's house when I tried to find him! There's no time to be timid, or whatever when a child is being abused. Action must be taken IMMEDIATELY! Unfortunately, nothing was done in the case I witnessed. Police came, child told them he had been smacked in the face. Still they left the dear child there with the sub human!

It's a girl. There are two daughters (one with him).

I have seen nothing to state that she was an abuser, he however has a very extensive felony record.
