VA VA - Isabella Miller-Jenkins, 7, Bedford, Sept 2009

 • #101
I just thought I might add a link. This is from the Washington Post. It's extremely long, but it gives in detail every aspect of the court case.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/30/AR2007013001316.html

It's my understanding Miller didn't run off to VA to start this big mess. She has family there, and she went there when they separated. Jenkins actually helped her move everything there, and paid child support and still visited Isabella. Problems didn't start until Miller became an "ex-gay" and filed for divorce against Jenkins, she checked on the form that she wanted full custody of Isabella.

From the article linked, it appears Miller has had some serious problems and issues in her life since she was a young child. Honestly, custody issue aside, Millers current actions and decision making process would leave me to wonder just how fit a parent she would be even if this custody/parental abduction mess had never started. I'd like to say she really did turn her life around, grew from those issues when she became an adult, but her behavior does not indicate so in any way shape or form. Nor does it appear Miller is willing to work on those issues, instead, she has turned and ran to a group who appears to support her 'unhealthy' mind set and thought process.

I would like to think, and this is moo, that the Christian community who has embraced Miller would seriously help her recognize she risks losing her parental rights if she continues this behavior. We have seen other mothers lose parental rights when they continue to severally alienate their child from the other parent for an extended period of time. The courts are only going to give Miller so much time, before they say enough!

JMO of course.

ETA: My gut tells me Ms. Millers actions are another form of denial with whatever demons she is facing and rather than face them head on, she has run to what she 'claims' is a christian life style. Her actions are NOT at all Christianlike, and I can't help but think she is using these people to manipulate the situation to her liking and advantage. I have seen, and distanced myself from a few members of the Christian community that I sware were as extreme and addicted to Christianity like a drunk would be to booze or an addict to drugs. I honestly think there is a point at which, if one has an addictive personality, they can easily become addicted to Christianity in a very unhealthy way. I dont' say this about all Christians, but I can say from personal experience I have seen a few do some awfully evil things in the name of the Lord and trying to back up their illegal actions with their interpretation of bible quotes.

You're welcome. My partner got an email from Lambada Legal yesterday and we've been trying to brainstorm some ways to get this out there.

Interesting article I found regarding this case. Includes some of the court documents, the details on the pending appeal where Ms. Miller is challenging Virginia's having to comply with another states custody order because it opposes VA law, and information on who is likely to be the last person to have spoken with Ms. Miller before she disappeared with her daughter. Interestingly, that person made herself unavailable online January 2, 2010 - the day after Ms. Miller broke the court order to transfer custody. I think it is possible, that woman may be hiding Ms. Miller or may know where she is, or who is helping her.

Long, with several links, but a great read!

ETA: Forgot to also mention there are some links to other rulings which may be used to argue this case. Very interesting and well worth the read!

Thanks Cubby. DT is who you're talking about. I've looked her up and she posted a blog saying she wouldnt be on much.

http://theformers.wordpress.com/

She's very suspicious. Because of the Facebook Group I set up someone was sending me messages. She said she was in Lynchburg retracing steps and the church has her hidden somewhere. I called JMJ's lawyer and told her and she said she would look into it.

There's also a guy going around every single thing posted about this case under the name "Derek James" "Eric Smith" "Blah".. he left a comment on the FB page and my friend started looking into it. He's made it his personal mission to spam everything. His FB pictures include, the Where's Waldo character, a drawing of the grim reaper, a picture of Lisa and Isabella,.. etc. They were all uploaded at the beginning of January, when Lisa went "missing" My friend thinks it's possibly Lisa just keeping up to date I guess. He refers to Isabella as "Izzy" and talks about things like her birth certificate. It's bizarre.

There's his FB page.

It was DT I was refering too. Odd how she made herself unavailable exactly one day after LM was ordered to turn over custody. I can't see the FB page because I am not a FB member. I think, FB, like myspace, might have an option to see where users are checking your page from. (I mean a general 'your'). I don't use the social network sights much so I don't know much about them, but I do know users who have MS have the ability to check the ISP city of anyone who checks their page.

I think this should be done for some of those sites.

I think we could sleuth Lisa out.... it's just a matter of the wonderful peeps at WS using their fantastic skills to do so. I don't think anyone hiding her would actually join WS since users have to use a 'traceable' email addy to join. Sure would be interesting if they did though...... I wasn't familiar with any of those 'hate' or fighting sites out there before I found the above article... I try to stay away from that stuff.. too much drama for me. But sure should be some interesting info to sleuth there......

Also, I wish we had more sleuths on the ground in that area to help. I'm near Chicago so no good from this far away in that area........ but will see what I can dig up via computer from here.

Do you know when the next court date regarding the appeal is? I thought it was sometime in the 20's of this month.

thanks!

Also, FWIW, if I were JMJ I'd get a PI working on this right away. She'd prolly be abot to get one to work for free too...... I can only imagine LM can hide for so long with the help of friends, and she'd prolly have to go from house to house to stay hidden. Unless of course she has left VA entirely..... but then she is relying on the state laws so I don't think she would leave the state.

One more question Button, do you know if JMJ's atty's are following this thread? I hope they are, if just for our idea's. I did send one of the atty's Levi, an email which she responded to very quickly ( which surprised me as busy as she must be) and included the link to this thread. I just don't know if they are watching here too with as many other sites as they have to follow.........

Vt. judge sets deadline in women's custody dispute

By JOHN CURRAN
The Associated Press
Friday, January 22, 2010; 4:47 PM

RUTLAND, Vt. -- A judge refereeing a child-custody dispute between former lesbian partners balked Friday at issuing a contempt citation for one of them and instead gave her 30 days to appear in court with the girl or face arrest.

<snip>
He set a Feb. 23 court date, saying if Miller doesn't appear with the child then, he would issue a warrant for her arrest.

He did not rule out referring the matter for a criminal prosecution on custodial interference.

Sorry I haven't replied, some personal stuff came up so I've been dealing with that. Glad it's over though lol.

I asked JMJ about DT and she said DT was a HUGE supporter of LM. Her blog "The Formers" is an ex-gay blog. The last blog DT posted was called "True Motherhood" Here's a little excerpt from it.

So, the blogosphere and the mainstream media are now abuzz with the news that — gasp! — Lisa and Isabella Miller are nowhere to be found, just days before the court-mandated transfer of custody of 7-year-old Isabella to Janet Jenkins. Ya reckon?

And you can read it on the Truth Wins Out blog, they copied and pasted the entire thing. DT actually commented on it, then she deleted her blog.

http://www.truthwinsout.org/blog/2009/12/5626/

Here it is.

Hopefully things around here have settled so I can reply more often.

Edit: wrong copy/paste for link. Sorry!! Got it right this time :)

Here's something DT posted called "A Note from Lisa Miller"

I just wanted to thank all of you for your kind and encouraging words. Please know that I cherish your hopefulness, Bible verses/stories and words of praise for our God that you share with me via this forum.

The whole thing is posted here.

Thanks Button. Honestly, contrary to what Lisa and Debbie would like to think kidnapping is still illegal in this country. If Debbie has any involvement in 'hiding' Lisa and Isabella, I hope she too is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

As soon as the judge imposes the warrant, I am gonna be on sleuthing this case full force. I already feel like a race horse ready to bust out of the gate so to speak.

I want to do that not just for Ms. Jenkins but for the thousands of left behind single parents who are denied access to their children and receive no assistance for visitation or custodial interference.

I agree Cubby. I'm ready to do whatever I can. It's sad when one parent (in any kind of relationship) just disappears. It makes me sick to think this could possibly happen to me or someone I love someday.

Button, if you know how you might want to take screen shots of those cached sites. At some point the cache is no longer available.

There is an explaination on how to do screen shots at the very bottom of the front page at WS in the forum finesse area.

Okay I can do that. Do I upload them here?

Maybe just save hard copies in the event at sometime the links no longer work. I've seen people do that as a just in case for the future.

I'm frustrated the judge gave Lisa Miller so long to comply and won't issue the arrest warrant until February 23rd. If she's been non compliant this long what makes him think she's going to comply now? All the judge did was give Lisa more time to further hide herself and her child. :banghead:

No doubt as a result of this Lisa is depriving her child of socialization and the normal things kids do. Which is child abuse.

It's time family court judges put their foot down earlier on in a case. Comply or the repercussions happen NOW! Not oh well, let's give them more time to comply. How does it benefit a child who is denied access to a parent when the courts allow this crap to continue for year after year before the issue becomes a criminal matter? Childhood is a very short time and a child should not be caught up in a mess like this for the bulk of their childhood before the parent instigating this crap faces repercussions. GRRRR!!!!!!!

I agree. I couldn't believe they gave her until the 23rd to show up. Hopefully she shows up for the court date, and if she doesn't a warrant IS issued for her arrest.

I don't know if this happens a lot, but I do know that something needs to change with LGBT rights. It's insanity to think that this could happen to me if my partner and I decided to have another child.
